Abstract

The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) that cause COVID-19 global pandemic is a devastating disease causing thousands of victims every day. Therefore, there must be a certain effort to reduce the risk of the disease progress, including improvement of individual immune system like the probiotic supplementation. Meanwhile, dadih is a dairy product obtained from fermented buffalo milk contains various nutrients for human body, especially probiotics that beneficial for reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection in children. The aim of the study was to determine the nutritional and microbiological content of dadih pudding as additional supplementation in children confirmed positive for COVID-19. The study design was True Experiment using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). It consisted of four formulas. They were F0 as the standard formula, then F1, F2, and F3 as the treatment formula by adding dadih 50, 60, 70, and 80 grams, respectively. This study was initiated with the analysis of biochemical nutritional value  at a laboratory in Padang Research Center and Industry Standardization. Besides, it also determined the number of total Acid Lactic Bacterial quantification which was analyzed at microbiology laboratory, Agricultured Technology Faculty, Universitas  Andalas. Nutrients and lactic acid bacteria in dadih pudding are potential as food supplementation, especially for children with COVID-19 infection. It is strongly recommended to give probiotic dadih to children in order to counter oxidative stress and inflammation, and the setting of COVID-19.

Abstract

More than 40% of mothers in the world, including Indonesia, have given food other than breast milk when the baby is less than six months old. Various factors can lead to early complementary feeding in Indonesia. The novelty of this research is because it examines about factors associated with early complementary feeding in Indonesia. This study aimed to determine the factors associated with early complementary feeding in Indonesia. This study used a quantitative design and meta-analytical analysis technique. Articles were included in this study, which were searched using Google Scholar, Garuda Portal, and ISJD databases. A total of 1,157 identification articles, with keywords ((early complementary feeding, complementary feeding administration in infants aged 0-6 months, early breastfeeding or prelacteal feeding) and (factors or factors related to, risk factors, knowledge) mother or education level, family support, support health workers, promotion of complementary feeding products, baby porridge, baby biscuits, formula or culture) and (cross sectional or case control) and (region in Indonesia)). The search was performed using the Indonesian language. Fifteen articles were systematically reviewed and included in this meta-analysis.  There is no significant relationship between maternal education level, family support, support from health workers and culture with early complementary feeding in Indonesia. Mothers’ low knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding is one of the factors contributing to early complementary feeding in Indonesia. Conclusion is Mother which low knowledge is at risk 2.63 times to have early introduction of complementary feeding for baby (95% Cl; 1.14-6.09).

Abstract

Increasing the degree of health means that life expectancy will also increase, and the number of older people will also increase. The consequence of increasing life expectancy is the emergence of disease problems due to old age, one of which is osteoporosis. This activity aimed to determine the health status of the elderly by conducting health checks and providing nutrition education to prevent osteoporosis in Padang City. The service was held in Korong Gadang Elderly Posyandu in April - September 2021. The community service included health checks by measuring blood pressure, measuring the nutritional status of the elderly, as well as nutrition education to prevent osteoporosis in the elderly, especially for menopausal women. This activity received a positive response from the community, and it was agreed that ongoing activities would be carried out in the form of routine health checks and counselling for the older people in the area.

Abstract

Stunting is the cronic malnutrition that was considered to still be a severe problem in Indonesia because the prevalence rate is still above 20%. Stunting prevention can be done by providing nutrition, health services, and using local food, such as dadih, for pregnant women. This service aims to increase capasity of mothers' knowledge about pregnancy through nutritional education and the application of processed dadih products in the form of functional dadih bread to pregnant women to prevent stunting in The Limapuluh Kota districts. The lecture method was used in n this activity provide free supplemental food to pregnant women in Lima Puluh Kota Regency. carried out on July 31 2023, by providing nutritional education and the application of dadiah functional bread to pregnant women. Other activities included in this service are ultrasound examinations and nutritional status for pregnant women. Acceptance of pregnant women's consultation every day for 1 month. The weight of pregnant women was measured before and after giving curd functional bread. The results of this activity showed that the acceptability of functional curd bread was good proven by the remaining products provided, only 25% of all products consisting of bread and curd vla. The conclusion of this community service is an effect of giving functional curd bread on weight gain of pregnant women.

Abstract

Optimizing the health and nutritional status of mothers during pregnancy can reduce the risk of stunting, with prevalence among children under five, in which the undernutrition condition was still high. It was about 24.4%. The research objective is to determine the association between maternal characteristics with nutritional status in the first trimester. This cross-sectional study involved 52 pregnant women in the first trimester. This study was conducted in the working area of health centers in Padang City 2022 which had a high prevalence of undernutrition problems. Data analysis was carried out using univariate tests and bivariate tests using chi-square with 95% CI and a significance level of p-value 0.05. The analysis results showed a significant relationship between BMI before pregnancy with nutritional status in the first trimester among pregnant women (p-value = 0.000). There is no relationship between education, occupation, age, and parity of the mother with nutritional status in the first trimester. Suggestions for pregnant women are to know their nutritional status, consume nutritious foods that are needed for fetal growth, and reduce the risk of low birth weight and stunting.

Abstract

The practice of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) can reduce mortality and morbidity rates in children and supports optimal growth and development in children. The practice of EBF influenced by various predisposing factors, supporting factors and reinforcing factors. This study aimed to evaluate the determinants of exclusive breastfeeding practices among mothers of infants 6-24 months old infants in Padang. This case control study conducted at Padang with 200 mothers, consisting of 100 mothers of case groups and 100 mothers of control groups. Maternal and infant characteristics, family characteristics, predisposing factors, supporting factors and reinforcing factors, and exclusive breastfeeding were collected for this study. Chi square and binary logistic regression were used to the data analysis. Results showed that mother's occupation, exclusive breastfeeding knowledge and parent's support were the most influencing determinants for exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi mendorong kegiatan bisnis dan ekonomi untuk mempercepat operasinya. Mulai dari proses produksi, promosi, hingga proses penjualan. Perkembangan tersebut hendaknya dimanfaatkan dengan baik oleh pelaku bisnis sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan pendapatan atau income. Masalah utama yang dihadapi oleh mitra kegiatan pengabdian di sekitar Universitas Bengkulu yang pertama adalah mitra belum mengerti penggunaan platform e-commerce yang tersedia di Internet. Kedua, proses promosi dilakukan dengan cara konvensional, yaitu dengan menunggu calon pelanggan datang ke lokasi. Agar permasalahan tersebut dapat teratasi, maka tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan dengan menggunakan platform e-commerce bernama SIKOSAN bagi mitra atau dalam hal ini adalah pemilik kos untuk mempromosikan rumah indekosnya secara luas. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah pembuatan aplikasi SIKOSAN, pelatihan dan pendampingan bagi mitra, serta evaluasi kegiatan pelatihan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yang pertama adalah aplikasi SIKOSAN berhasil dibuat dan dapat diakses melalui website www.sikosan.com. Selanjutnya, tim pengabdian mendatangi mitra dari rumah kerumah untuk melatih dan mendampingi mereka dalam menggunakan platform e-commerce yang dibangun. Hasil evaluasi penggunaan platform e-commerce yang dilakukan dengan metode wawancara dan observasi kepada mitra, mendapatkan nilai sebesar 82% dan masuk dalam kategori sangat setuju. Secara umum mitra pengabdian menilai bahwa aplikasi yang dibangun mudah dimengerti dan dipahami sebagai alat pemasaran indekos, dan dapat menjadi peluang untuk meningkatkan pendapatan mitra.

Abstract

Objective: According to the 2013 Riskesdas, the prevalence of anemia in Indonesia was 37.1%. Data from the Pariaman City Health Office showed that the prevalence of anemia in 2014 was 43.1%. This study aims to determine the effect of iron (Fe) tablets and nutritional counseling on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia in the Pariaman City area in 2016. Methods: This study is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental design. The study population consisted of third-trimester pregnant women with anemia, divided into two groups: the Fe tablet group (n=20) and the Fe tablet plus nutritional counseling group (n=20). Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Dependent T-Test statistical test. Results: The results showed that the average knowledge score in the Fe group was 0.3, while in the Fe plus nutritional counseling group it was 1.4. The average change in knowledge scores between the two groups showed a significant increase (p=0.002). The average attitude score in the Fe group was 2.15, while in the Fe plus nutritional counseling group it was 2.75. The average change in attitude scores between the two groups was not significant (p=0.205). The average action score in the Fe group was 1.050, while in the Fe plus nutritional counseling group it was 2.7. The average change in action scores between the two groups showed a significant increase (p=0.002). The average difference in hemoglobin levels in the Fe group was 0.280, while in the Fe plus nutritional counseling group it was 0.690. The average change in hemoglobin levels between the two groups showed a significant increase (p=0.008). Conclusion: It can be concluded that the provision of Fe supplementation and nutritional counseling results in a higher increase in hemoglobin levels compared to Fe tablets alone. It is hoped that nutritionists in the field will be more active in providing nutritional counseling to pregnant women with anemia to increase their knowledge about anemia. Novelty/Originality of this article: This study proposes an integrated nutritional intervention model combining Fe tablets with a community-based interactive nutritional counselling program. This model can increase the effectiveness of anaemia control programs in pregnant women by combining supplementation and education.

Abstract

Kegagalan pemberian ASI eksklusif dapat disebabkan oleh banyak faktor. Rendahnya keyakinan diri ibu menyusui menjadi salah satu faktor yang penting untuk digali kaitannya dengan kegagalan pemberian ASI eksklusif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan keyakinan ibu menyusui dengan ASI eksklusif. Desain penelitian adalah case control, dengan kelompok kasus adalah ibu yang berhasil memberikan ASI eksklusif sedangkan kelompok control adalah ibu yang gagal memberikan ASI eksklusif . Populasi penelitian ini adalah ibu menyusui yang memiliki anak usia 0-24 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskemas Belimbing, Puskesmas KPIK, Puskesmas Andalas, Puskesmas Kuranji, dan Puskesmas Nanggalo yang berjumlah 217 orang. Berdasarkan perhitungan sampel Lameshow, didapatkan 200 orang ibu hamil yang dikategorikan menjadi kelompok kasus dan kontrol. Hasil penelitian didapatkan ibu yang berhasil memberikan ASI eksklusif sampai anak usia 6 bulan adalah sebanyak 100 ibu (50%). Berdasarkan uji Chi Square, didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara keyakinan diri ibu dalam memberikan ASI eksklusif dengan keberhasilan pelaksanaan ASI eksklusif selama 6 bulan (p<0,05). Begitu juga dengan persepsi ibu terhadap kepuasan anak mendapatkan ASI juga berhubungan signifikan dengan keberhasilan pemberian ASI eksklusif (p<0,05). Oleh karena itu, dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara keyakinan ibu dengan ASI eksklusif. Dengan adanya kepercayaan diri ibu dan kepuasan anak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap keberhasilan ASI eksklusif.

Abstract

Background: Bilih fish (mystacoleucus padangensis bleeker) is a local food source in West Sumatra with the potential to be one of the processed food products that can contribute to reducing stunting. Bilih fish contains complete nutrients for the growth and development of toddlers. Objectives: This research aims to (1) develop the formulas of buffalo milk-based nuggets with the addition of bilih fish, (2) select the best nugget formula based on an organoleptic test, and (3) analyse the nutritional content through tests (proximate, zinc, and calcium) in the formulas of buffalo milk-based nuggets with the addition of bilih fish as supplementary food for the growth and development of children aged 1-3 years (toddlers). Methods: The research design employed was experimental studies. The experimental design for the nugget formula was a Completely Randomised Design (CRD). The nugget formula was created with four treatment levels: F0 = standard formula (buffalo milk nugget + 0 g bilih fish), F1 (buffalo milk nugget + 10 g bilih fish), F2 (buffalo milk nugget + 30 g bilih fish), and F3 (buffalo milk nugget + 50 g bilih fish). The organoleptic test was conducted with 30 semi-trained panelists and 2 replications. The data collected were analysed by applying the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: The best formula was F1, indicated by a bright yellow colour, savoury taste, aromatic smell, and tender texture. There were no significant differences among F0, F1, F2, and F3. The nutritional analysis results for F1 include water (46.90%), ash (2.32%), protein (11.77%), fat (7.60%), calcium (5.52 mg), and zinc (16.63 mg) per 100 g of nuggets. Conclusions: The best formula is F1 (buffalo milk nugget + 10 g bilih fish).
