Abstract

This research explored and looked forward to the competencies and objectives of the feasibility of learning designs needed for the post-quarantine era of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, especially in Papua. The research method used in our study is qualitative which focuses on structural analysis to answer problems in the research found through preliminary studies. Our research sites are located in several educational institutions in Papua. The study population was all students at the elementary, junior high, high school and university levels in Papua, Indonesia. We used a sampling method in the form of a purposive sampling technique.  The samples were three academic institutions; SMP N 5 Jayapura, SMA Pembangunan V Yappis, and Universitas Cenderawasih. Research instruments for collecting data were in the form of interview sheets, observation sheets, and questionnaires related to physics learning in the new normal era. The results of the study found that the physics learning design based on local potential in the new normal era can be an alternative for teaching physics concepts contextually. Students can observe the surrounding environment related to local customary culture which is indigenous science and educators represent the report in the form of a connection between the concept of science and local culture.

Abstract

Contextual problems in daily life are related closely with scientific problem solving skills. It is necessary to prepared when students study science comprehensively. The aim of this study was analyzing students’ scientific problem solving skills during the learning process bysimulation of PhET located in 3T region. The outermost area in the territory of Indonesia is referred as 3T region. There are three conditional aspects of 3T region; terdepan (frontier), terpencil (remote), and tertinggal (disadvantaged). A number of 122 regions in Indonesia are included in the 3T region, one of which is Nimboran, Papua. SMAN 1 Nimboran, Papua  Indonesia, was chosen as research subject. We comprehended the analysis by using descriptive qualitative method. Participants were 51 students chosen from purposive random sampling technique above all students in XI-IPA grade of SMAN 1 Nimboran. Data collecting was done through triangulation using interview, observation, and documentation (test). The research was conducted during the second term. The obtained results were as follows: students can define the problem (10.20%), students can explore the problem (3.27%), students can plan the solution (10.98%), students can implement the plan (6.54%), students can check the solution (1.70%), and students can evaluate the data (4.44%). The mean result was 38.46. It was interpreted that showed students’ scientific problem solving skills in SMAN 1 Nimboran was low. Thus, the need to improve the skills is demanded.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to mentor students and teachers in schools in using virtual laboratories. In this case the Excel VBA application is used in its application to kinematics and dynamics material. This activity was carried out at SMAN 1 Kemtuk Gresi, Jayapura Regency. Submission of material is equipped with a practicum module based on LKPD to make it easier for students and teachers during implementation. In carrying out this community service activity, the enthusiasm of students and teachers was very good. This is because the implementation of virtual and real practicum can add insight in learning physics. Students also just realized that MS Excel can be utilized in physics simulations because their perception so far is that MS Excel is only a program that is used only to input data in tables. The teacher also gave a positive response to the community service activities that had been carried out because it helped in making a VBA Excel-based virtual laboratory and making LKPD.

Abstract

The 21st century skills focus on scientific literacy competences in various urban and rural areas, one of which is Papua. Scientific literacy has competences to identifying scientific problems, explaining scientific phenomena, and utilizing scientific findings to solve problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the science literacy competences of IPA class VIII students of SMPN 5 Jayapura. Scientific literacy is competencies to understanding science, communicating science, and applying scientific conceptual to solve problems. A descriptive qualitative approach is used as this type of research. This research was conducted at SMPN 5 Jayapura. The sample selection used purposive sampling technique. There were 33 students who became respondents and teste in this study. The research instruments were documentation, observation, tests and interviews. The average percentage of competency aspects with indicators of identifying scientific problems, explaining scientific phenomena, and utilizing scientific findings is below 80%. The average percentage of aspects of knowledge about the concept of motion, with sub-concepts of regular motion, force, and Newton's laws is below 90%. The average percentage of human, animal and plant movement systems is below 70%. The highest score, average, median, mode, and lowest score of the cognitive scores of students' scientific literacy abilities were 100; 68.33; 75; 80; and 30. The scientific literacy competences of grade 8 students of SMPN 5 Jayapura are still low, which is shown in terms of the percentage of competence and is classified as moderate for the knowledge aspect. The conclusion of this study is that the scientific literacy competences of students at SMPN 5 Jayapura are in the sufficient category.

Abstract

Materi pembelajaran IPA sulit dipahami oleh peserta didik. Beberapa faktor penyebabnya yaitu keterbatasan peralatan praktikum yang tersedia di sekolah dan peserta didik tidak dilatih dan dibiasakan untuk belajar secara kontekstual. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini yaitu 1) Memberi pelatihan kepada guru IPA dan peserta didik untuk melakukan praktikum berbasis saintifik pada pembelajaran gerak makhluk hidup dan benda di sekitarnya, 2) Menstimulus aktivitas kognitif dan kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik pada pembelajaran gerak makhluk hidup dan benda di sekitarnya, 3) Menstimulus kemampuan literasi sains guru melalui pelatihan praktikum pada pembelajaran gerak makhluk hidup dan benda di sekitarnya. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan pengabdian yaitu berupa pelatihan dan pendampingan praktikum pada pembelajaran IPA terpadu materi gerak makhluk hidup dan benda di sekitarnya dengan menggunakan lembar kerja peserta didik materi terkait dan observasi lingkungan. Pengabdian dilakukan selama dua bulan yang diikuti oleh guru IPA dan peserta didik di kelas VIII SMPN 3 Nimboran Kabupaten Jayapura. Dari hasil kegiatan pengabdian diperoleh bahwa 1) Sebanyak 60 peserta didik kelas delapan yang mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan sangat antusias dalam melakukan pelatihan praktikum ilmu pengetahuan alam berbasis saintifik, 2) Kegiatan pelatihan ini mampu menstimulus aktivitas kognitif dan kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik pada pembelajaran gerak makhluk hidup dan benda di sekitarnya, serta 3) Mampu menstimulus kemampuan literasi sains guru melalui praktikum praktikum pada pembelajaran gerak makhluk hidup dan benda di sekitarnya. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dari kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu, peserta didik kelas VIII sangat antusias dalam mengikuti pelatihan praktikum IPA berbasis saintifik. Kegiatan ini juga dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif bagi peserta didik. Selain itu, kegiatan pelatihan ini mampu menstimulus keterampilan literasi sains bagi guru dan peserta didik.Science learning material is difficult to understand by pupils. Some factors are the limited practical equipment available in schools, and the students are not trained and used to learning contextually. The purpose of this dedication is to 1) train IPA teachers and pupils to conduct scientific-based practices on learning the movement of living creatures and objects around them, 2) stimulate cognitive activity and science literacy skills of pupils in learning the motion of living beings and things around it, 3) stimulate the literacy of science skills of teachers through practical training on the learning of the movements of living things and things surrounding them. The methods used in dedication activities are training and practical support for science learning to integrate the material movement of living creatures and objects around them using worksheets of students-related materials and environmental observations. The dedication was done for two months, followed by the science teacher and pupils in the 8th grade of SMPN 3 Nimboran district of Jayapura. From the results of dedication activities obtained that 1) A total of 60 pupils of eighth grade who followed the training activities were very enthusiastic about conducting practicum training in natural sciences based on science, 2) this training activity was able to stimulate cognitive activity and literacy skills of science students on learning the movement of living creatures and objects around them, as well as 3) Being capable of stimulating the literacy ability of science teachers through practicum practicum on learning movements of living beings and things around them. This dedication activity concludes that the students of the eighth grade are very enthusiastic about following a scientific-based IPA practice training. These activities can also enhance the cognitive abilities of the pupils. In addition, these training activities can stimulate science literacy skills for teachers and pupils.

Abstract

Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) merupakan salah satu bidang studi yang berisikan tentang peristiwa alam (fenomena) dengan mengidentifikasi dan mencari pemecahan masalah yang dihadapi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis potensi kearifan lokal nuehe dalam pembelajaran IPA SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kajian literatur. Prosedur penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pengumpulan artikel, mengelompokkan data, menganalisis artikel, pembahasan serta menyimpulkan hasil penelitian dari data yang diperoleh dari artikel yang relevan. Nuehe dapat dianggap sebagai makanan yang sehat jika menggunakan bahan-bahan segar, dipersiapkan dengan metode memasak yang sehat seperti dikukus atau diasap, dan proporsinya seimbang. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa kandungan gizi yang ada pada nuehe dapat dikaji dan diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran IPA SD dan nuehe memiliki kaitan erat dengan materi ajar dengan kompetensi dasar terkait makanan sehat. Peserta didik akan memperoleh wawasan terkait potensi suatu daerah, mengenal nilai kearifan lokal, serta adanya internalisasi nilai jika pengintegrasian potensi daerah serta mampu menjadikan peserta didik berkarakter.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship, and the influence of extrinsic learning motivation on student learning outcomes. This type of research is ex post research facto. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS 16 program. The study population was 61 class X students. The research sample was class X1 with a total sample of 30 students. The analysis technique used was correlation techinique. Research results and data processing asymp value sig (2-tailed) 0,000 < 0,05, meaning that there is a relationship between extrinsic learning motivation and student learning outcomes. The pearson correlation value of 0,934 is interpreted to have a very strong relationship. The value of R Square 0,872 means that the influence of extrinsic learning motivation on learning outcomes is 87,2%. Sig value 0,000 < 0,05 meaning that there is an influence on extrinsic learning motivation learnig outcomes of students.

Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), which has been implemented by activator schools in Indonesia since 2021, aims to improve the quality of character education. This project guides character education in the Merdeka Curriculum, which is implemented through a positive culture built by schools through intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular learning. This research aims to analyze the whole activity by involving partners and identifying factors that support or hinder the implementation of P5 at SMPIT Insan Mulia, Manokwari Regency, West Papua. This research adopted descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation checking. Data validity was tested using triangulation techniques and discussions with peers, while data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The P5 implementation at SMPIT Insan Mulia Manokwari began with planning and were followed by socialization to teachers, students, and parents, fostering proactive attitudes and gotong royong. Optimizing P5 according to project guidelines enhanced student engagement through innovative learning, encouraging creativity and critical thinking. Teachers facilitated reflective dialogue to develop a positive school culture. The program concluded with a learning celebration to appreciate students' efforts. Key supporting factors included the principal's role, teacher collaboration, partner involvement, and student enthusiasm, while the hindering factor was limited time allocation. Overall, the management of P5 adhered to guidelines without significant obstacles.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a product in the form of a Discovery Learning-based teaching module to improve the scientific literacy skills of students at SMA N 1 Sentani, Kab. Jayapura. In this study using research and development (Research and Development) which refers to the Borg and Gall development model according to (Borg and Gall, 2003) the steps that should be taken in research development (Research and Development) include: (1) research and information collection (research and data collection), (2) Planning (planning), (3) Develop premilinary form of product (developing initial product/product draft),(4) preliminary field testing (initial field trials However, the research model and Borg and Gall development was only carried out by researchers until the fourth stage) because the purpose of this research was only to develop and produce validand feasible products. Based on research data obtained from research and development idi is teaching materials in the form of teaching modules produced and developed by Borg and Gall. The validation of the feasibility of the High School Physics module on Business and Energy Materials Based on Discovery Learning by one expert lecturer and physics teacher got an overall percentage of 83% with a very good interpretation so that it is feasible to be used in the learning process.

Abstract

This study is related to the development of teaching materials that adapt the changes in the old curriculum to the new curriculum, namely the 2013 curriculum by implementing a learning model, namely a discovery learning-based module. The Discovery learning model is one model that can play a role in solving problems for students so that they can learn independently. The purpose of this study is to see the feasibility and response of students regarding the discovery learning-based module. This researcher adapted from the ADDIE development model (Pribadi, 2014) which has 5 stages. However, in this study it was only limited to the development stage so that only 3 stages were carried out, namely Analysis, Design, and Development until a limited trial was carried out. Module validation was carried out by 3 validators to test 6 aspects that were assessed and obtained an overall percentage of 88.08% with a very strong interpretation and a limited trial to 31 class VIII A students where seen from the 4 aspects that were assessed obtained an overall percentage of 92% with a very strong implementation. So based on these results, it can be concluded that the discovery learning-based learning module on the subject of vibrations and waves at SMPN 4 Jayapura is suitable for use and the response of students regarding the discovery learning-based module for the subject of vibrations and waves is very good
