Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the use of a virtual laboratory based on an electric circuit (EC) studio on dynamic electrical materials and to help physics education students and to determine the effect of using an EC studio-based virtual laboratory on dynamic electrical materials. This study uses qualitative descriptive research with a survey method through the provision of questionnaires filled out by 15 second-semester students of the physics education study program, at Cenderawasih University. Quantitative data was collected using a questionnaire with an approach to science process skills on dynamic electrical materials with the help of the EC studio application, while qualitative data was in the form of responses given by students about virtual laboratory media on dynamic electrical materials. There are three indicators that serve as a reference in analyzing the EC studio-based virtual laboratory on dynamic electricity: learning motivation, the stimulus for higher-order thinking skills, and understanding of concepts and problem-solving. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it was found that students’ responses were very good to the EC studio-based virtual laboratory media because students could repeat themselves if they did not understand. The use of this media makes it easier for students to understand dynamic electricity.

Abstract

In rural regions, cultural practices and indigenous knowledge systems constitute valuable epistemic resources amenable to incorporation into science instruction through an ethnoscience framework. This study aimed to identify ethnoscience elements embedded within rural communities of Jayapura, Papua, Indonesia, and to examine junior high school students’ perspectives regarding the integration of such indigenous knowledge into science learning. A descriptive quantitative research design was employed. The population comprised junior high school students in rural districts of Jayapura. Through purposive sampling, 120 ninth-grade students from multiple rural schools participated. Data were collected via a validated eight-item Likert-scale questionnaire (α = 0.81) and supplemented by semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages, mean scores, and standard deviations), while qualitative data underwent thematic analysis. The findings revealed a significant perception gap: students demonstrated low awareness of ethnoscience as an instructional approach (M = 2.38, SD = 0.92) and limited recognition of cultural practices as scientific applications (M = 2.52, SD = 0.95). Conversely, students exhibited strong interest in environment-based science learning (M = 4.12, SD = 0.74), high perceived relevance of cultural resources for conceptual understanding (M = 4.18, SD = 0.68), and substantial willingness to learn science through cultural contexts (M = 4.22, SD = 0.65). These findings indicate that while ethnoscientific resources remain underutilized in formal instruction, students perceive considerable value in culturally contextualized science learning. The study provides empirical evidence supporting the development of culturally responsive science curricula in rural Indonesian contexts and offers practical implications for educators seeking to bridge indigenous knowledge systems with formal scientific instruction.

Abstract

Background: The integration of local wisdom into science learning is crucial to promote contextual and meaningful education, particularly in primary schools. Despite its importance, the use of ethnoscience in primary school science curricula remains underexplored, leading to a disconnect between abstract scientific concepts and students' everyday experiences.Aim: This study aims to explore the ethnoscience of sago processing in Sarmi Regency, Papua, and its application as a science learning resource for elementary schools.Method: A qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach was employed, involving data collection through observations, interviews, and documentation with local community participants.Results: The results reveal that traditional sago processing encompasses basic scientific principles, including simple machinery, energy transfer, friction, and sedimentation, which can be effectively contextualized in science lessons.Conclusion: The integration of sago processing into the curriculum enhances students' comprehension of scientific concepts, fosters cultural appreciation, and encourages sustainability. These findings underscore the need to incorporate local wisdom into educational practices to develop student-centered, culturally relevant, and sustainability-oriented learning environments.

Abstract

This study describes the level of professional competence of teachers in teaching mathematics in elementary schools by utilizing motor skills. The main purpose of this study is to explore and describe the stages of building mathematical concepts through motor skills. This type of research is descriptive qualitative which aims to explain in detail the stages of building mathematical concepts in elementary schools through motor skills. Data were collected through field observations, questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that: 18 out of 20 teachers (90%) do not understand the motor skills of stepping and jumping as an activity to understand mathematical operations; 17 out of 20 teachers (85%) have a wrong understanding that generalizes the motor skills between Numerical and Round numbers are the same; 19 out of 20 teachers (95%) have an understanding of mathematical operations on Round numbers with memorization methods

Abstract

Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) merupakan salah satu bidang studi yang berisikan tentang peristiwa alam (fenomena) dengan mengidentifikasi dan mencari pemecahan masalah yang dihadapi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis potensi kearifan lokal nuehe dalam pembelajaran IPA SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kajian literatur. Prosedur penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pengumpulan artikel, mengelompokkan data, menganalisis artikel, pembahasan serta menyimpulkan hasil penelitian dari data yang diperoleh dari artikel yang relevan. Nuehe dapat dianggap sebagai makanan yang sehat jika menggunakan bahan-bahan segar, dipersiapkan dengan metode memasak yang sehat seperti dikukus atau diasap, dan proporsinya seimbang. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa kandungan gizi yang ada pada nuehe dapat dikaji dan diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran IPA SD dan nuehe memiliki kaitan erat dengan materi ajar dengan kompetensi dasar terkait makanan sehat. Peserta didik akan memperoleh wawasan terkait potensi suatu daerah, mengenal nilai kearifan lokal, serta adanya internalisasi nilai jika pengintegrasian potensi daerah serta mampu menjadikan peserta didik berkarakter.

Abstract

Pendidikan karakter peserta didik dapat melalui kearifan lokal. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mendeskripsikan implementasi pendidikan karakter peserta didik melalui mata pelajaran PKN menggunakan kearifan lokal noken Papua. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif. Sampel penelitian yaitu kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, pengawas sekolah, guru kelas IV dan 2 orang peserta didik di SDN Sentra Pendidikan Kab. Mimika. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Data di analisis dengan menggunakan langkah-langkah data reduction, data display, dan conclusion/verification. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sekolah sudah berupaya mengimplementasikan pendidikan karakter lewat pembiasaan-pembiasaan, melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler sesuai minat peserta didik serta peran aktif guru dalam membimbing dan mendidik peserta. Diperoleh kesimpulkan bahwa ada perubahan karakter dalam kehidupan sehari-hari walaupun belum seluruhnya, dan keterlibatan dinas pendidikan dalam pengelolaan sekolah dan juga kepala sekolah yang sangat aktif menjadi faktor pendukung utama.

Abstract

Bahan ajar yang efektif adalah bahan ajar yang relevan dengan alam sekitar dan pendekatan kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan produk bahan ajar IPA yang terintegrasi dengan kearifan bakar batu Papua, menganalisis kelayakan produk, dan menganalisis peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu R&D dengan metode Borg and Gall. Jumlah sampel 30 peserta kelas V.A dan V.C. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, angket, dan tes. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu intrumen wawancara, lembar validasi ahli media, materi dan bahasa, kuesioner, dan tes pretest-posttest. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil validasi ahli materi, dan ahli bahasa, dan validasi guru kategori sangat valid. Respon peserta didik pada uji kelas terbatas diperoleh kategori sangat valid, serta diperoleh peningkatan nilai. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahan ajar IPA terintegrasi kearifan lokal bakar batu Papua layak digunakan dan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik.
