Abstract

The General Biology lecture on bilingual classes conducted by giving the assignment of preparing a summary of biology topics and then be presented and discussed. The analysis of the initial ability of students in scientific writing skills and oral communication skills were still low. The low level of both skills were reflected on the meaning and development aspects of the summary that were still in the beginner category (28%) and develop category (56%). Just as many (16%) of the students were in the category of competent and no students were included in the expert category. A similar picture is also seen in the organizational aspects of writing, language and structure of writing a summary. The observation of the oral communication skills of the students showed that the content and its delivery were still in the beginner category. This fact requires the effort to empower both these skills, since  that scientific writing skills and oral communication is an important skill of scientific literacy of students in 21st  century life. SRE (Sumarizing, Reviewing, and Evaluating) Writing Strategy is a learning strategy that could potentially improve both the skills. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas Problem-Based Learning (PBL) dibandingkan dengan metode pembelajaran konvensional dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua kelompok siswa: kelompok Eksperimen yang menerima PBL dan kelompok Kontrol yang mengikuti metode konvensional. Skor pretest dan posttest dianalisis menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney U. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kelompok Eksperimen memiliki skor posttest rata-rata 46,5 dalam hasil belajar, dibandingkan dengan 44,7 pada kelompok Kontrol, tanpa perbedaan yang signifikan (U=216, p=0,131, rank biserial correlation = 0,250). Namun, dalam keterampilan berpikir kritis, kelompok Eksperimen menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan, dengan skor median meningkat dari 40 menjadi 77, dibandingkan kelompok Kontrol yang meningkat dari 40 menjadi 74 (U=146, p=0,002, rank biserial correlation = 0,492). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun PBL secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, dampaknya terhadap hasil belajar tidak signifikan secara statistik dalam konteks penelitian ini. Penelitian lebih lanjut direkomendasikan untuk mengeksplorasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi efektivitas PBL dan menilai dampak jangka panjangnya terhadap hasil pendidikan. The Effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Enhancing Learning Outcomes and Critical Thinking Skills: A Comparative Study Abstract This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) compared to conventional teaching methods in enhancing students' learning outcomes and critical thinking skills. The research involved two groups of students: an Experimental group that received PBL and a Control group that followed conventional methods. Pretest and posttest scores were collected and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. Results showed that the Experimental group had a mean posttest score of 46.5 in learning outcomes, compared to 44.7 in the Control group, with no significant difference (U=216, p=0.131, rank biserial correlation = 0.250). However, in critical thinking skills, the Experimental group exhibited a significant improvement, with the median score increasing from 40 to 77, compared to the Control group, which increased from 40 to 74 (U=146, p=0.002, rank biserial correlation = 0.492). These findings suggest that while PBL significantly enhances critical thinking skills, its impact on learning outcomes is not statistically significant within the context of this study. Further research is recommended to explore factors influencing the effectiveness of PBL and to assess its long-term impact on educational outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dengan refleksi metakognitif terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa di MA Sirojut Tholibin Taman Sari Pamekasan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi-experimental dengan desain Posttest Only Control Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari kelas X IPA A sebagai kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran Direct Instruction dan kelas X IPA B sebagai kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model pembelajaran PBL dengan refleksi metakognitif. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes esai untuk mengukur hasil belajar dan rubrik penskoran keterampilan berpikir kritis. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) dengan taraf signifikansi 5%, dibantu perangkat lunak JASP versi 0.17.1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan dalam keterampilan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Rerata skor keterampilan berpikir kritis pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi (M=75,07, SD=6,09) dibandingkan kelas kontrol (M=65,01, SD=6,56). Begitu pula dengan hasil belajar, rerata skor pada kelas eksperimen (M=85,02, SD=8,26) lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol (M=73,57, SD=7,78). Hasil uji MANOVA menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran PBL dengan refleksi metakognitif berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa (F(2,41)=15,739, Trace Pillai=0,434, p<?.001). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan model PBL dengan refleksi metakognitif efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa. The Influence of Problem Based Learning Model with Metacognitive Reflection on Students' Critical Thinking Skills and Learning Outcomes Abstract This study aims to describe the impact of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with metacognitive reflection on critical thinking skills and learning outcomes of students at MA Sirojut Tholibin Taman Sari Pamekasan. The type of research used is quasi-experimental with a Posttest Only Control Design. The research sample consists of class X IPA A as the control class using the Direct Instruction learning method and class X IPA B as the experimental class using the PBL model with metacognitive reflection. The instruments used include essay tests to measure learning outcomes and scoring rubrics for critical thinking skills. Data analysis was performed using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) with a significance level of 5%, aided by JASP software version 0.17.1. The results showed a significant difference in critical thinking skills and learning outcomes between the control and experimental classes. The mean critical thinking skills score in the experimental class was higher (M=75.07, SD=6.09) compared to the control class (M=65.01, SD=6.56). Similarly, the mean learning outcomes score in the experimental class (M=85.02, SD=8.26) was higher than that in the control class (M=73.57, SD=7.78). The MANOVA test results indicated that the PBL model with metacognitive reflection had a significant effect on improving students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes (F(2,41)=15.739, Pillai's Trace=0.434, p<?.001). This study concludes that the implementation of the PBL model with metacognitive reflection is effective in enhancing students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Publikasi ilmiah menjadi sangat penting peranannya dalam pengembangan keilmuan maupun pengembangan profesionalisme dan karir guru. Sayangnya, kemampuan guru dalam merumuskan ide penelitian, menentukan desain penelitian, menetapkan dan melakukan pengambilan data, mengembangkan instrumen penelitian, serta melalukan analisis data yang sesuai dengan jenis penelitian menjadi faktor penghambat yang utama untuk menghasilkan karya ilmiah. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan metodologi penelitian pendidikan guru di SMAN 1 dan SMAN 2 Grabag, Kabupaten Magelang. Metode pengabdian menggunakan model In House Training yang meliputi 3 fase kegiatan yaitu fase perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman peserta mengenai pentingnya memahami metodologi penelitian untuk menghasilkan karya ilmiah meningkat sebesar 39,79%. Selain itu, terdapat peningkatan sebanyak 43,81% pada aspek pemahaman peserta terhadap ragam metodologi penelitian pendidikan. Dengan demikian, kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan mampu memberikan ruang dan kesempatan bagi guru untuk merefresh kembali pengetahuan teoritis dan praktis dalam mengembangkan kemampuannya dalam meneliti.

Abstract

ABSTRAKDalam rangka untuk meningkatkan profesionalitas guru sebagai tenaga pendidik, maka penting bagi guru untuk cakap melakukan penelitian di bidang pendidikan sebagai bentuk evaluasi pembelajaran yang telah dilakukan kepada peserta didik. Selain itu, kegiatan penelitian yang dilaksanakan wajib dilaporkan dan ditulis menjadi suatu artikel ilmiah yang dipublikasikan pada jurnal ilmiah untuk membentuk budaya akademis bagi guru dan meningkatkan profesionalisme guru dengan peningkatan jabatan fungsional. Hasil observasi pada mitra didapatkan bahwa pengalaman guru untuk melakukan penelitian dan publikasi artikel ilmiah masih tergolong rendah, sehingga penting dilakukan pelatihan dan pendampingan penulisan artikel serta publikasi ilmiah bagi guru di SMAN 1 Grabag dan SMAN 2 Grabag. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan dengan metode in house training dan pendampingan secara daring. Adapun kegiatan terdiri dari persiapan, pelatihan publikasi artikel ilmiah, dan pendampingan penulisan artikel ilmiah. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pemahaman peserta kegiatan sebanyak 5% pada kategori baik sekali, sebanyak 19,52% pada kategori baik, dan 22,19% pada kategori cukup setelah dilakukan paparan materi mengenai metode penelitian pendidikan dan publikasi artikel ilmiah yang diukur melalui nilai pre test dan post test. Selain itu, kegiatan terus berlanjut dengan melakukan pendampingan penulisan artikel ilmiah dan publikasi artikel ilmiah di jurnal nasional melalui sistem open journal system secara daring dan intensif pada guru yang betul-betul berkomitmen. Kata kunci: artikel ilmiah; profesionalisme guru; publikasi; penelitian pendidikan ABSTRACTIn order to improve the professionalism of teachers as educators, it is important for teachers to be competent in conducting research in the field of education as a form of evaluating learning that has been delivered to the students. In addition, research activities must be reported and written into scientific articles published in scientific journals to form an academic culture for teachers and increase the teacher professionalism. The results of observations showed that teachers' interest in conducting research and publishing scientific articles is still relatively low, so it is important to provide workshop and assistance in writing articles and scientific publications for teachers at SMA N 1 Grabag and SMA N 2 Grabag. The method of this activity consists of preparation, workshop for publication of scientific articles, and assistance in writing scientific articles. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in the understanding of activity participants by 5% in the very good category, 19.52% in the good category, and 22.19% in the sufficient category after exposure to material regarding educational research methods and publication of scientific articles as measured by grades pre test and post test. Apart from that, activities continued by providing assistance in writing scientific articles and publishing scientific articles in national journals through an open journal system online and intensively for teachers who are truly committed. Keywords: scientific articles; teacher professionalism; publications; educational research

Abstract

Karang Taruna, sebagai komunitas pemuda desa, memiliki potensi besar untuk berperan aktif dalam menggerakkan masyarakat untuk memilah sampah rumah tangga, namun belum dioptimalkan. Program pemberdayaan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan Karang Taruna sebagai kader peduli lingkungan yang mampu menggerakkan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Rural Appraisal yang melibatkan sosialisasi, pelatihan manajemen organisasi, pembentukan kader peduli lingkungan, dan pendampingan pemilahan sampah rumah tangga. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pemilahan sampah sebesar 42,12% setelah mengikuti pelatihan. Selain itu, pembentukan komunitas budidaya maggot dari sampah organik telah terbentuk, yang didukung oleh implementasi teknologi seperti mesin pencacah sampah dan oven pengering maggot. Program ini juga meningkatkan kapasitas produksi maggot di TPS-3R Merti Bumi serta mengurangi residu sampah yang dibuang ke TPA.

Abstract

Waste cooking oil is a waste product that is often not utilized optimally by the community and can pollute the environment if not managed properly. On the other hand, students at the Ibnu Hajar Community Learning Center (PKBM) and the PKK group in Sirahan Village, Magelang Regency, need to develop their entrepreneurial skills to support local economic growth. This community service project aims to provide training to both partner groups on utilizing waste cooking oil as a primary material for making aromatherapy candles. The methods employed in this activity include education and hands-on training. The results of the community service program showed that this program had a positive impact on the partner groups, namely the students of PKBM Ibnu Hajar and the PKK group in Sirahan Village. Training participants not only learned how to produce aromatherapy candles from waste cooking oil, but also gained new skills with the potential to enhance the local economy through environmentally sustainable entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Motivation as a critical factor in supporting academic achievement is well-established. However, efforts to enhance student motivation and improve learning outcomes remain a significant challenge. This research aims to analyze the effect of using the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by Quizizz Paper Mode (Q-Cards) on motivation and cognitive learning outcomes of class XI students at SMA IT Ihsanul Fikri Mungkid on the immune system material. The research design was quantitative quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The research results showed a significant influence of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by Quizizz Paper Mode (Q-Cards) on learning motivation with a significance value of 0.000 and student learning outcomes with a significance value of 0.000. The results of this research can be used as input for teachers and prospective teachers in considering the appropriate models and media to increase student motivation and learning outcomes to improve the quality of education and as a reference base for further research related to student motivation and cognitive learning outcomes.Abstrak. Peran motivasi sebagai faktor penting dalam mendukung prestasi akademik sudah diketahui dengan baik. Namun, upaya untuk meningkatkan motivasi siswa dan meningkatkan hasil belajar masih menjadi tantangan yang signifikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament (TGT) berbantuan Quizizz Paper Mode (Q-Cards) terhadap motivasi dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas XI SMA IT Ihsanul Fikri Mungkid pada materi sistem imunitas. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen kuantitatif dengan non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan model pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament (TGT) berbantuan Quizizz Paper Mode (Q-Cards) terhadap motivasi belajar dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 dan hasil belajar siswa dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan masukan bagi guru dan calon guru dalam mempertimbangkan model dan media yang tepat untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa guna meningkatkan mutu pendidikan dan sebagai bahan acuan untuk penelitian selanjutnya terkait motivasi dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa.

Abstract

A green economy in rural areas requires effective and sustainable waste management strategies to reduce environmental impact and improve community welfare. The Dahlia Waste Bank in Ngargogondo Village, Magelang Regency, faces challenges in enhancing management quality and productivity, particularly in organic waste processing. This community service program aims to strengthen the management of the Dahlia Waste Bank through training in processing organic waste into economically valuable compost, education on waste management based on the 4R principles (refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle), and the introduction of innovative waste processing technologies. This program employs a community empowerment approach to increase awareness, responsibility, and active participation in waste management. The program outcomes show a significant increase in the amount of waste processed into compost and improved waste bank management quality. Additionally, it has successfully expanded the community's understanding of the importance of waste management as part of the green economy, resulting in reduced environmental damage risks and enhanced local welfare.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman, kesadaran, dan keterampilan masyarakat desa Dompelan mengenai pemanfaatan limbah plastik sebagai bahan dasar furniture berbasis ecobrick. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Participatory Action Research (PAR) dengan tahap to know, to understand, to plan, to act, dan pro change. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Dompelan, Tegalrejo Magelang dengan masyarakat sasaran terdiri atas warga Desa Dompelan. Evaliasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui pengukuran terhadap kemampuan akhir peserta mengenai pengolahan sampah menjadi ecobrick. Hasil pengabdian menunjukan bahwa rerata skor pemahaman, kesadaran, dan keterampilan Masyarakat sebesar 96. Dengan demikian, kegiatan yang dilakukan dapat memberikan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat di Dompelan.
