Abstract

The aims of this research is to analyse the issues and prolems in coral reef management in order to established the strategy to achieve sustainable coral reef management. The study done during period of July to November 2015 in the Kepulauan Seribu district, DKI Jakarta. Reseach method was descriptive with case study. Data gathering using the triangulation method. Furthermore, data analysis using AWOT (Analythical Hierarchy Procedure and Strenght-Weakness-Opportunity-Threath) which is the combination of SWOT and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique. The results showed that the problems of coral reef management was different in North and South area and therfore, the strategy applied in two different area is different.  Moreover, the best strategy for North area was located in 1st. quadrant (strategi Strength-Opportunity where for South area the strategy located at 2nd quadrant (strategi Strength-Treath).Based on this results, the best program to be applied at South area is Community based solid waste management while for North area is implement the Co-Management.

Abstract

Risk of oil spill occured from oil exploration and production in marine should be effectively managed. This research is aim to obtain formula of oil spill risk analysis, risk mapping of oil spill in coastal area, and evaluated risk category in regard to be effectively risk management. The study area cover three coastal regions in western Java sea such as Kepulauan Seribu, Northern Java ( Banten, to Karawang coastline) and Eastern Lampung. Oil spill spreading modelling using Mike Zero from three spill sources (Cinta, Krisna and Widuri) resulted potentially impacted coastal by oil spill in certain - 8 months - period (January, February, March, April, May, June, July, and September). Study resulted the ALARP (As Low As Reasonable Practicable) matrix and risk category consist of  high, moderate, low and very low category which have range value  more  than  9.47, 9.46 – 4.23,4.22 – 3.75, less than 3.74, respectively. Mostly, 77% of the impacted coastal ecosystem and resource have moderate to high risk. Distribution of risks dominantly occurred in west moonson rather than east moonson. The matrix of division priority of oil spill mitigation based on cumulative risk exposure have high priority during west moonson occured in division 6, 7, 13 and 15 which were impacted to ecosystem of shoreline, mangrove, coral reef,  capture fishery, tourism, and sea port  area. Meanwhile, during the east moonson, division 2 and 4 have priority to impacted to shoreline,  mangrove ecosystem, marine culture, capture fishery and also tourism

Abstract

Coastal areas possess a diverse potential wealth of natural resources that can be developed and utilized by humans, such as fisheries, marine tourism, and transportation. One form of disruption to the balance of coastal and marine ecosystems is the pollution caused by waste. The Karimunjawa Islands face serious challenges related to waste pollution. Therefore, an identification of carried out regarding the composition of polluting waste as well as impacts or disruptions caused by marine waste pollution on the mangrove ecosystem in the coastal areas of Karimunjawa Island and Kemujan Island. Various types of waste were found at the research site, including plastic, metal, glass, rubber, organic, and others. Based on the enteri locations of Karimunjawa Island and Kemujan Island, 370 items of plastic waste and macro-debris amounted to 442, predominantly on Lumbung Beach. The dominant mangrove is Rhizophora sp., which has muddy sandy substrate. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that this waste situation makes the coastal areas of Karimunjawa Island and Kemujan Island vulnerable to environmental pollution problems. The impact on the environment is a decrease in benthic biota density owing to the abundance of waste. The higher the density of waste, the lower the density of benthic species found in the mangrove ecosystemenvironment.

Abstract

The ocean economy plays a crucial role in driving regional development and sustainable natural resource management, particularly in metropolitan coastal areas such as the Special Region of Jakarta (Daerah Khusus Jakarta, DKJ). Despite the rapid development of the ocean economy in many regions, there is little comprehensive research on the ocean economy at the metropolitan scale. This work applies to an Input-Output approach to assess the ocean economic activity within the DKJ area, relying on a regional IO matrix from 2016. Alongside come figures on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), employment creation factors, and measures of influence spread across industries. Emphasis emerges where certain fields show notable interdependencies with marine-relatedoutputs, shaping paths for advancement. Through such patterns, attention shifts naturally toward those branches capable of generating wider ripple effects. The results show that 25% of DKJ's total output comes from the ocean economy, accounting for 19.7% of the province’s GRDP in 2016. By 2024, GRDP from the ocean economy reached IDR 721 trillion, with projected output of IDR 1,805 trillion. The two largest contributors are marine construction and marine tourism, followed by the maritime industry and the transportation sectors. Where complex logistics chains are examined, integrated approaches like Blue Urbanism emerge, linking constructed spaces to renewed ecosystems. Within different areas, port networks operate independently yet grow tightly linkedunder this framework. Evidence gathered supports detailed planning methods aimed at shaping coastal urban economies where industry expands steadily alongside ecological care and fairer community outcomes.
