Abstract

Concerns have been raised over the availability of water in the Dendam Lake neighborhood of Bengkulu City and the areas surrounding it. The location is characterized by a number of unsuccessful water wells. These issues are the direct and indirect results of the geological formations that are present in the region, specifically Aluvium (which consists of boulders, clasts, sand, silt, mud, and clay). A MAE X-612 EM resistivity meter was utilized in order to get a total of twenty Vertical Electric Sounding (VES) measurement points. Using the software programs Progress and Surfer, the data that was gathered was plotted on a two-log graph. The geoelectric layer and layer parameter maps that were made were prepared with the use of quantitative and qualitative interpretations. It was determined that there were between three and five geoelectric layers. It has been demonstrated that the resistivity of the subsurface shallow groundwater zone ranges from 10 to 20 Ωm at a depth of 4 to 15 meters. According to the findings of this research project, employing the VES geo-electrical exploration approach is likely capable of effectively outlining the subsurface and shallow groundwater. In addition, there is no information available regarding the precise depth of the groundwater table in the region. On the other hand, the underground groundwater at this location has a depth that is shallower than the norm.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of gastropods on Cukuh Raya Beach, Kaur Regency and to produce a valid classification booklet of living things. Based on the results of sampling at Cukuh Raya Beach, 12 species of gastropods were obtained, namely: M. annulus, T. chrysostomus, T. canaliculatus, R. aspera, N. canrena, C. femorale, V. musica, N. undata, T. radiatus G., R. nilotica, O. sayana R., and O. polpasta D. The research and development design used, namely (R&D) is based on the 4-D model starting from defining (Define), designing (Design), developing (Develop), and disseminating (Disseminate), but only carried out up to the development stage. The booklet developed was made with an attractive cover and Open Sans font that is in accordance with EYD. The booklet contains a front cover, foreword, table of contents, learning objectives, indicators of learning objective achievement, summary of materials, gastropod diversity, evaluation questions, and bibliography. The average results by expert (lecturer) and practitioner (teacher) validation obtained a percentage of the booklet content aspect of 90%, language aspect of 93.8%, and graphic/design aspect of 88.6% with an average of 90.8% in the category of "very feasible". Thus, it can be concluded that the developed product is very feasible to be tested in the learning process.

Abstract

Black Soldier Fly maggot can reduce the amount of organic waste, especially fruit and vegetable wastes. Its break down organic waste into its food containing very high protein, so it become a promising animal feed. This study aimed to analyze effect of feeding tomato fruit waste and mustard vegetable waste on the growth and protein content of BSF maggot (Hermetia illucens). This study applied a complete randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments (different percentages of tomato and mustard vegetable wastes) and 3 replications. The growth parameters measured were mass, length, thickness of BSF maggot which were analyzed statistically using the ANOVA test and continued with the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. Protein content was analyzed using the automatic Kjeldahl test. Our results showed that feeding fruit and vegetable wastes have a significant effect on growth (mass, length, thickness) and maggot protein levels. It can be concluded that feeding fruit and vegetable wastes affect the growth (mass, length, thickness) and protein content of BSF maggot. Key words: growth, maggot, mustard waste, protein, tomato waste

Abstract

Bengkulu University is located in the coastal area precisely in Muara Bangka Hulu sub-district of Bengkulu City, which is one of the sub-districts bordering the coastline. Areas or regions bordering the coastline have a higher level of tsunami hazard compared to areas or regions far from the coastline. The marking of the evacuation point area in the Bengkulu University environment has not adjusted to the disaster mitigation parameters. The purpose of this research is to analyse and map the tsunami hazard class at Bengkulu University in a preventive mitigation effort as well as a consideration for future policies. Primary data measurements used Geodetic GPS devices and were analysed using GAMIT and GLOBK 10.6 software. While secondary data obtained from geospatial information agencies and DEMNAS were analysed using arcgis software. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the environment of Bengkulu University as a whole has 3 classes of hazard zones including high hazard class, medium hazard class, and low hazard class.

Abstract

Learning programmes need to be designed to provide cognitive aspects, especially critical thinking skills with indikators and aspects of spiritual attitudes in the learning process. This study aims to apply the Phenomena Based-Interactive Conceptual Instruction (PB-ICI) lecture model to equip critical thinking skills and instil spiritual values through science learning. This research uses a quasi-experiment. The results showed that the average pre-test score of critical thinking skills was 43.45 in the low category, the average post-test score was 79.48 in the high category and the average N-gain was 0.64 in the medium category. The results of the analysis of the cultivation of spiritual values show that PB-ICI learning can instil spiritual values related to the nature of divinity with an average response score of 88. Thus it is concluded that PB-ICI learning can improve critical thinking, instil spiritual values and get a very good response after PB-ICI learning implementation activities.

Abstract

Waste from male banana peels (Musa paradisiaca Var. Paradisiaca), Ambon banana peels (Musa paradisiaca Var. Sapientum), and kepok banana peels (Musa acuminate L.) can be used as natural water filtration. The content of pectin, galacturonic acid and cellulose in banana peels can absorb heavy metals in water. This research aims to determine the filtration ability of natural waste materials such as kepok banana peels, Ambon banana peels and male banana peels which are most effectively used as water filtration media. This research consists of the sample preparation stage, carbonization stage, activation stage, and trial stage. The method used is an experimental method on a laboratory scale to measure Potential Hydrogen (pH), Total Dissolve Solid (TDS), and the level of clarity in water. The data obtained was tested using the Anova test with a significance level of 5% and the BNT test. Based on the BNT test which shows that male banana peels are not significantly proportional to the TDS of well water. Meanwhile, Ambon banana peel and Kepok banana peel are significantly proportional to TDS, and for Kepok banana peel, Ambon banana peel and male banana peel, it is significantly proportional to the pH of well water, because the significance results are less than 0.05%. From these findings it can be concluded that Kepok banana peels and Ambon banana peels are the most effective water filtration media to use.

Abstract

This study determined teacher’s perceptions about the ability of modules developed in training students' critical thinking skills. This research is a part of research and development with the development model used, namely 3D Development, namely Define, Design, and Develop which was adapted. The instruments used were observation sheets, student needs questionnaire sheets and teacher perception questionnaire sheets. Questionnaire needs were given to 100 students of class XI Science while perception questionnaires were given to 30 high school/vocational school physics teachers. Data analysis techniques used are quantitative analysis techniques and qualitative analysis techniques. The instrument used to obtain perception data was categorized as valid with a value of Va = 3.11 and reliable with a Crobach's Alpha Coefficient calculated 0.925 greater than the standard Crobach's Alpha Coefficient value of 0.60. The results of the perception questionnaire analysis obtained an average percentage of teacher perceptions of 77.87% with a very good category.
