Abstract

 This study aims to find out the image of the values of local wisdom and cultural clash of Indonesian people who bring the mission of nationalism in the country outside, in the novel Edensor by Andrea Hirata. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive with content analysis technique. Content analysis technique means textually searching for words, sentences, or ideas related to the research topic to then the data obtained are presented, verified, and drawn conclusions. The results obtained from this study indicate that the aspects of local culture appear more prominent or more dominant than other aspects, followed by aspects of religion, custom, and social. The dominant aspect of local culture is that of the characters in the novel because the clearly described figures still have an awareness to defend their culture despite the onslaught of Western cultures. If this is analogous to the representation of the people of Indonesia, then this awareness that carried Edensor. The success of the characters won the bets visiting as many countries as possible to foster self-confidence and pride as the nation of Indonesia. The realization that even though Indonesia is still a moratorium, still lagging behind in science and technology, has grown awareness to dare to advance and forge itself in global competition. It is possible for this nation to change for the better, not only in the mastery of science, but also in the improvement of attitudes in maintaining local wisdom, even if it was abroad.

Abstract

Story of Seven Nymphs spread in Indonesia implies many similarities starting from the introduction of stories, conflicts, the peak of conflict, and settlement. Story of seven nymphs always describes them as helpless before men when their shawls stolen. The aim of this study is to show how male superiority and resistance of women represented in folklore stories themed seven nymphs. The method used in this study is the content analysis method with comparative literature and sociological literature technique. The data taken from story titled Jaka Tarub, Telaga Bidadari, Arya Menak, Raja Omas, and Mahligai Keloyang. The story have similar lines, but comes from different regions. The results of the research and analysis show that the superiority of men has begun to seen from the actions in the story that took the nymph’s shawl (wings). With that event, the nymphs figure told in all research data described as having no power to fight, so that without other choices, they must be willing to be the wife of a man who stole their shawl. However, in women (nymphs), there is the potential for strength and endurance in facing their new life in the world. All men who intend to marry nymphs in the story made helpless and obey all kinds of conditions and restrictions proposed by the nymphs if they want to marry them. Finally, in the analysis, the overall story ends in the separation between the man and his wife (the nymphs) because the agreement at the beginning violated by the male character.

Abstract

The purpose of the study are to assess described the extent to which aspects concerning the achievement of sociology of a literary work in the novels of pudarnya a charm cleopatra the work of habiburrahman el-shirazy .Planned in the methodology for in this research was a method of descriptive of an analysis of the contents of the , by portraying the aspect of sociology literature in the novels of pudarnya a charm cleopatra the work of habiburrahman el-shirazy .The results and of discussion to be addressed the data obtained from the of novels a charm pudarnya clepoatra the work of habiburrahman el-shirazy consisting of 51 in the picture to the .Of novels analyzed according on the aspects falling under sociology literature , which includes the sociology a literary work , 1 ) the element of a social system: a political system as many as 0 points , a system of belief 18 points , the economic system 9 points , and the system of education as many as 6 points , 2 ) value system as many as 20 points and a system of an idea 6 points , and 3 ) culture equipment as many as 3 points
