They were: a) agriculture, b) livestock, c) fashion, d) handicraft, and e) culinary. Referring to the clusters, the businessmen among college students did some important steps to get advantages. One of the important steps was mapping the conditions in each of the categories. The mapping is directed on the particular segments based on lifestyles, such as: business enterprising types, resident types, social types, and entertainer types. The strategic steps were in the form of series of the stages of the program or activity which were determined by SWOT analysis. Through this analysis, it is expected that the businessmen could hold and determine the competitive advantage so that they could be the leader in the market. Moreover, it also occurred on the businesses which were implemented by young businessmen from the educational institution. By involving the micro, small enterprise businessmen, the experts, and the local government officials, this research obtained someimportant data or input in formulating marketing strategies to enhance the competition of the businesses of the micro, small enterprise. This research used qualitative and quantitative approaches. The data collecting techniques were filling the questionnaire, conducting depth interview, and doing FGD. The businessmenamong the college students had strengths on the non-physical aspects such as motivation and independence. In addition, the problems on the relationship which had existed so far between suppliers and customers or consumers could also be the strength forthe businessmen among the college students. However, the college students also hadweaknesses. The college students felt that the campus wasavery potential market. Moreover, their market shareon products was also relatively high compared to the competitors in the market insidethe campus. In addition, the opportunities which were seen by the businessmen were: a) competition at campus couldrelatively be overcome by them, b) the support of government agencies and the campus itself, and c) the consultancy assistance of the campus due to the businesses which was carried out. Furthermore, the conditionwhich complicates their business development was about the problem of competitionon condition that the products would be soldespecially in markets outside the campus.KEY WORDSClusters, Segmentation, Strategy, Competition.

Abstract

Research aims: This study aims to analyze the effect of organizational support and emotional intelligence on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) through employee organizational commitment.Design/Methodology/Approach: This research was conducted in the Central Bureau of Statistics in Medan City with a population of 100 permanent partner employees. Using non-probability sampling, the entire population became the research sample. Meanwhile, the analysis technique employed path analysis.Research findings: The results proved that organizational support and emotional intelligence had a significant effect directly on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and indirectly through employees' organizational commitment. In other words, increased organizational support and emotional intelligence of employees will intensify the level of employee organizational commitment, raising the level of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and vice versa. In this case, organizational support strongly predicts employees’ high organizational commitment. Theoretical contribution/Originality: Further research that explores other predictors needs to be carried out with more significant respondents to generalize the findings better.Practitioner/Policy implication: It is essential to provide more intensive organizational support to employees since this variable is a strong organizational predictor of generating a superior level of employee organizational commitment. Organizations also need to conduct in-depth personality tests to detect the level of individual emotional intelligence of employees who work in the field and interact with the community for better work effectiveness.Research limitation/Implication: The limited number of population and samples in the agency is a limitation of the study to generalize the findings better.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the impact of stress and workload on the performance of PT Cheil Jedang Feed Medan's employees, moderated by work shifts. The study is explanatory and employs a quantitative approach. Primary data was collected by distributing questionnaires to a sample of 101 employees. The sample size was determined using the saturated sampling technique. The data was analyzed using multiple linear regression and moderation regression analysis. The study found that workload has a significant negative impact on employee performance, but work stress does not. Furthermore, the work shift variable has no significant moderating effect on the impact of stress and workload on employee performance at PT Cheil Jedang Feed Medan. Based on the results of this research, it turns out that these variables contribute minimally to employee performance. Practical suggestions that need to be perfected by PT Cheil Jedang Feed Medan are improvements in the aspect of the speed of rotation of working hours between employees and the provision of rest periods according to the relatively high level of stress and workload felt by employees

Abstract

In a company, the primary resource is its human resources, often referred to as employees. Human resources play a crucial role at all levels, from lower management to top management, in ensuring that the company achieves its objectives. For this reason, employees are required to demonstrate strong performance, which is influenced by several key factors, including career development, motivation, and competence. These factors not only shape how employees contribute to organizational success but also determine their individual growth and satisfaction. This study investigates the impact of career development, work motivation, and competence on employee performance. A quantitative research approach was employed, with data collected through the distribution of questionnaires and library research. The study sample consisted of 32 employees at PT. Adzkia Masa Depan Medan, selected using the Saturated Sample method. This method ensures that all members of the population are included in the study, allowing for comprehensive data collection. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression analysis in SPSS 20 software. This technique enables researchers to assess the relationship and impact of career development, work motivation, and competence on employee performance. Furthermore, hypothesis testing was conducted to determine the significance of these variables on performance outcomes. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the critical factors that influence employee productivity and effectiveness, highlighting the importance of fostering career growth opportunities, maintaining high levels of motivation, and enhancing employee competencies. Abstract

Higher than usual rainfall and an inability to absorb water optimally have caused flooding in Mandailing Natal Regency. Geographical conditions that include mountains, highlands, lowlands, and coasts also contribute to the potential for complex disasters. This study aims to analyze the role of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in flood prevention and identify inhibiting factors. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, with data obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that BPBD carries out its role through pre-disaster mitigation, including media appeals, training, construction of safety structures, non-structural mitigation based on community empowerment, and the establishment of Disaster Resilient Villages. At the emergency response stage, BPBD deploys a Rapid Reaction Team (TRC) to assess the situation, while post-disaster recovery is carried out through infrastructure reconstruction, victim trauma assistance, establishment of command posts, damage inventory, and evaluation. The main obstacles include budget limitations and cross-sector coordination. The conclusion of this study confirms that optimizing the role of BPBD requires better synergy with the central government and the community to increase the effectiveness of flood prevention and handling in Mandailing Natal.
