Abstract

This study successfully made starch from taro tuber flour using immersion methods (AQ, SM) and centrifugation methods (CE). Taro starch with the AQ method produced the most starch content, thus improving the viscosity parameter in the pasting properties test. A simple mathematical model was used to control the taro starch pasting process and product. The highest R-value in the AQ sample was 309.88 s, indicating the strongest starch granule resistance. Meanwhile, the S-value in this study showed that all samples were above 1, which indicated that water penetration affected the swelling rate of starch granules. Taro starch with different isolation methods was analyzed for hydrogel formation using optical microscopy, SEM, swelling degree test, weight loss, color analysis, and texture profile analysis (TPA). The morphological images show three phases of a taro starch hydrogel formation: granular, potential cross-linking, and cross-linking hydrogel with a firm structure. Optimization of freeze-thaw process parameters was carried out to determine the optimum parameters of starch hydrogel formation, which was obtained under freezing conditions for 17 hours at -23°C and thawing for 7 hours at 4°C. The sample CE resulted in the most stable hydrogel formation, showing the highest amylose content, protein content, and the lowest impurities or ash content. The CE starch concentration of 10% resulted in the highest swelling degree and the lowest weight loss, indicating that the ability of the hydrogel to maintain its structure was stronger and more elastic. The textural properties of CE hydrogel at a concentration of 10% showed the most stability. It had the highest hardness, fracturability, chewiness, and springiness. Physical characteristics showed that the starch hydrogels had a dense, porous surface and formed a cross-linking structure. It can potentially be used in functional food applications to control the release of bioactive compounds.

Abstract

The payroll system is one of the processes most vulnerable to errors and fraud, making effective internal control and the role of internal audit essential to ensure accuracy, transparency, and accountability. This study aims to analyze the role of internal audit in supporting the efficiency and effectiveness of internal control within the payroll system of PT Illuminati Metamorphosis. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through interviews, observations, and documentation related to payroll procedures and internal monitoring mechanisms. The findings indicate that the implementation of internal audit at PT Illuminati Metamorphosis is not yet fully adequate due to the absence of formal written policies and procedures, as well as insufficient separation of duties. Although internal audit contributes to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll process, improvements are still required, particularly in documentation practices, segregation of duties, and the development of a digital payroll system to strengthen internal control.

Abstract

Hydrogels represent a promising alternative for plant cultivation, offering excellent water and nutrient retention. This study reports the synthesis and characterization of an agarose-based hydrogel composite enhanced with eggshell powder (ESP). The hydrogel composites were prepared in four agarose-to-ESP ratios: 10:0 (Hyd-ES0), 10:1 (Hyd-ES1), 10:3 (Hyd-ES3), and 10:5 (Hyd-ES5). Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis revealed minimal peak shifts, indicating no significant chemical modifications. Characteristic ESP peaks were identified in the composite hydrogels, confirming the effective integration of ESP into the agarose matrix. The addition of ESP reduced the decomposition rate of the hydrogels and increased macromolecular stability. Density measurements indicated higher density with increasing ESP concentration, supported by enhanced crystal formation, as evidenced by more intense diffraction peaks in X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns. Morphological analysis revealed that the porosity of the hydrogel, swelling, and weight-loss tests showed a decline in both properties with higher ESP content. Seed germination experiments demonstrated that stem, root, and leaf growth, as well as fresh and dry weights, were most optimal with the Hyd-ES1 hydrogel composite. Thus, Hyd-ES1 hydrogel exhibits significant potential as a medium for seed germination and plant growth.

Abstract

Recent advancements in micro- to nano-scale fiber production, particularly through rotary force spinning (RFS), offer high production rates but face challenges in optimizing fiber collection efficiency. This study investigates the effect of spinneret angular speed on fiber collection performance of a novel RFS collector system. The collector system integrated zig-zag pole collectors with a rolling collector that seamlessly traverse between the poles for fiber assembly. This configuration enabled the produced fibers to be continuously assembled onto the rolling collector, thereby forming fibrous membranes directly during the spinning process. The collection performance was evaluated using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) fibers fabricated at spinneret angular speeds ranging from 4000 to 11000 rpm. The results showed that the rolling collector captured up to 95.39% of the produced fibers at a high rotational speed of 11,000 rpm, whereas at lower rotational speed, most fibers were deposited onto the pole collectors, reaching 95.19% at 4000 rpm. These findings indicate that the proposed collector system effectively enhances fiber collection efficiency over a broad rotational speed range while enabling direct fibrous membrane formation in the RFS process.

Abstract

In this paper, we have developed a model of the tunneling current through a high- dielectric stack in MOS capacitors with anisotropic masses. The transmittance was numerically calculated by employing a transfer matrix method and including longitudinal-transverse kinetic energy coupling which is represented by an electron phase velocity in the gate. The transmittance was then applied to calculate tunneling currents in TiN/HfSiOxN/SiO2/p-Si MOS capacitors. The calculated results show that as the gate electron velocity increases, the transmittance decreases and therefore the tunneling current reduces. The tunneling current becomes lower as the equivalent oxide thickness (EOT) of HfSiOxN layer increases. When the incident electron passed through the barriers in the normal incident to the interface, the electron tunneling process becomes easier. It was also shown that the tunneling current was independent of the substrate orientation. Moreover, the model could be used in designing high speed MOS devices with low tunneling currents.

Abstract

KARAKTERISTIK ARUS FILM TIPIS CeO2 DAN Nd-CeO2 YANG DIDEPOSISIKAN DI ATAS SUBSTRAT Si(100) MENGGUNAKAN TEKNIK PULSED-LASER ABLATION DEPOSITION (PLAD).
