Abstract

The development of technology in the education sector today is not accompanied by wise use by students. One way to increase the productivity of technology use by students is through schools, where teachers act as facilitators. This certainly poses a challenge for teachers to maximize the role of technology in schools despite differences and limitations so that learning becomes effective. Teachers' perceptions of technology are important to analyze in efforts to improve the quality of technology-based learning. This study aims to determine teachers' perceptions of the effectiveness of biology learning based on technological knowledge at Samarinda Ulu District High School and the factors influencing it. The methods used are qualitative and quantitative, with measurement tools in the form of questionnaires and interview sheets. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the questionnaire responses from 7 biology teachers at SMA Kecamatan Samarinda Ulu, the analysis of teachers' perceptions of the effectiveness of technology-based biology learning revealed a score of 71.42%, indicating that the majority of teachers have a very positive perception of the effectiveness of technology-based learning. Factors influencing this include teachers' and students' ability to use technology, the availability of infrastructure, the suitability of technology to the material presented, the diversity of applications used in learning, and discipline and motivation in learning.

Abstract

Background: Changes in tea consumption trends present opportunities for the tea industry, especially as alternative raw materials have been tested in recent years to develop tea and kombucha with distinct organoleptic and functional properties. This study evaluates the organoleptic characteristics and consumer preferences for Singkil tea and Singkil kombucha. Methodology: A sensory evaluation was conducted with 30 untrained panelists to assess color, aroma, taste, texture, and overall acceptability using a hedonic scale. Additionally, the alcohol content was measured. Findings: The results of the hedonic test indicated that all treatments fell into category 3 "slightly liked", suggesting an acceptable level of consumer preference. On average, both Singkil tea and Singkil kombucha received an acceptance score of 3, indicating that they were "slightly liked." This suggests their potential as alternative beverages suitable for commercialization. Furthermore, the safety of the product was confirmed, as it contains 0% alcohol, meets halal standards. Contribution: This study concludes that Singkil kombucha has the potential to be a viable alternative beverage for the market, and that it is safe for consumption due to its 0% alcohol content, which complies with halal standards

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model using Educaplay media on the critical thinking skills of class XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Samarinda in the 2024/2025 academic year. This type of research is quasi-experimental using a non-equivalent control group design. Sampling in this study used a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 26 students each for the experimental class and the control class. The data analysis techniques used were the N-Gain test and the independent sample t-test. The results of the data analysis showed that the N-Gain value of critical thinking skills of students in the experimental class with an average of 0.41 was included in the moderate category, and the control class was 0.32 in the moderate category. The results of the hypothesis showed a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.028 (<0.05) for critical thinking skills, where the sig. value. (2-tailed) <0.05 so it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model using Educaplay media has a significant effect on the critical thinking skills of class XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Samarinda. This finding shows that the integration of PBL with digital interactive media can be an effective alternative to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of the use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology in the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on improving students' questioning and critical thinking skills. The method used is a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects of the study were students of grade XI SMAN 14 Samarinda who were divided into an experimental class and a control class, each consisting of 20 students. The research instruments used were essay tests, observation sheets, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation), N-Gain test, t-test (Independent Sample T-Test), and Normality & Homogeneity test using SPSS 25 for Windows. The results of the analysis showed a more significant increase in skills in the experimental class compared to the control class. The N-Gain value of the experimental class' questioning skills was 0.46 (moderate category), while the control class was 0.21 (low). For critical thinking, the experimental class obtained 0.51 (moderate), higher than the control class 0.33 (moderate). These findings indicate that AR integration in PjBL effectively improves questioning and critical thinking skills, and contributes to 21st century learning innovation.

Abstract

Brain Based Learning is an approach based on how the human brain works. This model creates a learning atmosphere that is in harmony with the way the brain naturally processes information, with the hope of increasing student participation and their learning outcomes. In its implementation, the Brain Based Learning model is combined with the use of Wordwalls as a learning aid. Wordwall is a technology-based platform that offers a variety of user-friendly quizzes, games, and activities. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of the Brain Based Learning model and Wordwalls on science process skills and student learning outcomes. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The research instrument uses a test, with 10 essay questions, 5 questions to measure science process skills, and 5 questions to measure student learning outcomes. The sampling technique in this study uses the Purposive Sampling technique. To analyze the data, the researcher used the t-test with a significance level of 0.05. The results of the analysis show that the t-test obtained a sig. A 2-tailed test of 0.00 (0.00<0.05) for both variables indicates an effect of the Brain-Based Learning model assisted by Wordwall media on the science process skills and learning outcomes of 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 13 Samarinda on the human sensory system topic.

Abstract

Technology-based learning is crucial for 21st-century education to improve digital literacy and student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of Game Based Learning (GBL) assisted by educaplay on digital literacy and learning outcomes of seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Samarinda on the topic of Indonesian ecology and biodiversity. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a pretest-posttest control group design. This study involved 64 students as samples, divided into experimental and control classes. The research instruments included essay questions for cognitive learning outcomes and questionnaires for digital literacy. The results showed significant differences between the two groups. The average cognitive posttest of the experimental class (79.5) was substantially higher than that of the control class (68.8), with an N-gain value of 0.52 (moderate category). The increase in digital literacy in the experimental class was also significant, from an average of 107.5 to 145.69. The t-test confirmed the significance value (p<0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that Game-Based Learning (GBL) supported by educaplay is effective in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes and digital literacy skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving independent assignments on student learning outcomes in the Histology course. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study subjects consisted of two classes: a treatment class given independent assignments and a control class without similar treatment. Data were collected through pretests and posttests, then analyzed using paired t-tests and homogeneity of variance tests. The results showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores in the treatment class (p = 0.000 < 0.05), while the control class showed no significant difference (p = 0.348 > 0.05). These findings indicate that giving independent assignments can significantly improve student learning outcomes. Thus, independent assignments are effectively implemented as a learning strategy in the Histology course to train students' independence, responsibility, and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Active student participation is the direct involvement of students in the learning process which includes indicators, such as: giving opinions, giving responses, doing assignments, concluding, and presenting. Class X students at SMA Islam Samarinda have low active participation in learning activities. Therefore, the use of appropriate learning models and media is very necessary to attract students' attention so that students are more actively involved in learning activities. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by pop-up book media on students' active participation in ecosystem material for class X at SMA Islam Samarinda. The type of research used is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method and uses a research design, namely pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this study was class X-1 as an experiment and class X-2 as a control, where each class consisted of 25 students, so that the total sample was 50 students, with a sampling technique of simple random sampling. Data collection in this study used a student active participation questionnaire, with data analysis using a hypothesis test using an independent sample t-test with a significance level of 5%. Based on the research conducted, a 2-tailed significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 was obtained, indicating that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model using pop-up books significantly influenced student active participation in ecosystems material for 10th grade students at SMA Islam Samarinda.

Abstract

Bullying remains one of the recurring issues in school environments and requires attention in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aims to analyze the influence of family background on bullying behavior among high school students in Samarinda. A descriptive mixed-method approach was employed, with data collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The research was conducted from January to May 2024 in four schools: SMAN 16, SMA Budi Luhur, SMAN 3, and SMK Negeri 14 Samarinda. The findings show that most students come from intact families, with percentages ranging from 70.4% to 93.7%. Nevertheless, bullying behaviors were still identified, including pushing peers (3.7%–32.9%), mocking with derogatory nicknames (14.8%–34.2%), and engaging in physical violence (2.8%–10.5%). These results indicate that family background is not the dominant factor influencing students’ bullying behavior. This study implies the need for more comprehensive prevention strategies involving schools, families, and the social environment to create a safe learning climate while simultaneously strengthening students’ character education.Bullying masih menjadi salah satu permasalahan yang sering muncul di lingkungan sekolah dan perlu mendapat perhatian dalam implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh latar belakang keluarga terhadap perilaku bullying pada pelajar SMA di kota Samarinda. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan pendekatan mix methode yang bersifat deskriptif.  Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, kuesioner, dan wawancara. Kegiatan Penelitian dilakukan pada Januari-Mei 2024 di empat sekolah, yaitu SMAN 16, SMA Budi Luhur, SMAN 3 dan SMK Negeri 14 Samarinda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Sebagian besar siswa berasal dari keluarga lengkap dengan presentase 70,4% hingga 93,7%. Meskipun demikian, perilaku bullying tetap ditemukan, seperti mendorong teman (3,7%-32,9%), mengejek dengan julukan buruk (14,8%-34,2%), serta melakukan kekerasan fisik (2,8%-10,5%). Data ini menunjukkan bahwa latar belakang keluarga bukanlah factor dominan yang mempengaruhi perilaku bullying siswa. Penelitian ini berimplikasi pada perlunya strategi pencegahan yang lebih komprehensif dengan melibatkan sekolah, keluarga, dan lingkungan social dalam menciptakan iklim belajar yang aman sekaligus memperkuat Pendidikan karakter siswa.

Abstract

Analysis of Microplastic Content in Fish Digestive Tracts at PPI Selili Samarinda, East Kalimantan. The aim is to determine the type of microplastic content in marine fish at PPI Selili Samarinda. The type of research is qualitative research with analytical descriptive methods. The samples used were flying fish (Decapterus spp.), milkfish (Chanos chanos), white tuna (Thunus sp.), red snapper (Lutjanus sanguineus), and white trevally (Caranx sexfasciatus). The indicators of microplastics used in this research are the results of identifying microplastics based on shape and size. The research results showed that the fish samples contained microplastic particles including fiber, fragments, film and monofilament, with the fiber type being the most dominant. In flying fish (Decapterus spp.) the size of microplastics ranges from 768.28µm - 1,175.85µm for fiber type, 421.85µm - 955.89µm for fragment type, 812.45µm- 1,102.79µm for film type, and 1,592.59µm for monofilament type. Milkfish (Chanos chanos) ranges from 686.89µm - 814.95µm for fiber type, 267.79µm - 814.46µm for fragment type, 296.25µm - 755.70µm for film type, and 1,310.46µm - 1,374.86µm for monofilament type. White tuna (Thunus sp.) ranges from 457.41µm - 1,149.24µm for fiber type, 305.04µm - 601.01µm for fragment type, 374.74µm for film type, and 1,175.66µm for monofilament type. Red snapper (Lutjanus sanguineus) ranges from 408.02µm - 642.05µm for fiber type, 714.9µm - 804, 47µm for fragment type, 514.01µm - 852.96µm for film type, and 639.88µm - 1,196.88µm for monofilament type. White pompano (Caranx sexfasciatus) ranges from 535.63µm - 671, 82µm for fiber type, 205.23µm - 764.04µm for fragment type, 761.73µm - 783.88µm for film type, and 617µm for monofilament type. Analisis Kandungan Mikroplastik pada Saluran Pencernaan Ikan di PPI Selili Samarinda Kalimantan Timur. Bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis kandungan mikroplastik pada ikan laut di PPI Selili Samarinda. Jenis penelitiannya penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif analitis. Sampel yang digunakan ikan layang (Decapterus spp.), ikan bandeng (Chanos chanos), ikan tongkol putih (Thunus sp.), ikan kakap merah (Lutjanus sanguineus), dan ikan kuwe putih (Caranx sexfasciatus). Indikator dari mikroplastik yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu hasil identifikasi mikroplastik berdasarkan bentuk dan ukuran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sampel ikan mengandung partikel mikroplastik diantaranya berjenis fiber, fragmen, film dan monofilament, dengan jenis fiber yang paling mendominasi. Pada ikan layang (Decapterus spp.) ukuran mikroplastik berkisar 768,28µm - 1.175,85µm untuk jenis fiber, 421,85µm - 955, 89µm jenis fragment, 812,45µm- 1.102,79µm jenis film, dan 1.592,59µm jenis monofilament. Ikan bandeng (Chanos chanos) berkisar 686,89µm - 814,95µm jenis fiber, 267,79µm - 814,46µm jenis fragment, 296,25µm - 755,70µm jenis film, dan 1.310,46µm - 1.374,86µm jenis monofilament. Ikan tongkol putih (Thunus sp.) berkisar 457,41µm - 1.149,24µm jenis fiber, 305,04µm - 601, 01µm jenis fragment, 374,74µm jenis film, dan 1.175,66µm jenis monofilament.
