Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of local cultural understanding on counseling quality, with client engagement as a mediating variable. The background of this research is based on the importance of cultural understanding in counseling practice. The research design used is a correlational design with a quantitative approach. The subjects of the study consist of 100 respondents, including 50 counselors and 50 clients who have previously been involved in counseling (purposive sampling). The research instruments used include questionnaires that measure local cultural understanding, counseling quality, and client engagement, which have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using multiple regression to test the effect of local cultural understanding on counseling quality, as well as mediation analysis to evaluate the role of client engagement. The results of the study indicate that local cultural understanding has a positive and significant effect on counseling quality (? = 0.45, p < 0.01), and client engagement serves as a mediator in this relationship. This study recommends that counselors develop a deeper understanding of their clients' local cultures and encourage active client engagement in the counseling process to enhance service effectiveness.

Abstract

This study explores teachers’ perspectives on the implementation of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in science and math classrooms at SD Al Azhar Pati, a primary school in Indonesia. While CLIL is acknowledged as a bilingual instructional strategy that enhances both language and subject knowledge, limited research has explored its implementation in non-international, resource-limited school contexts. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected from five teachers through structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews via WhatsApp. Findings reveal that teachers view CLIL as effective for fostering academic vocabulary and meaningful learning. However, challenges such as language barriers, limited materials, and varied student engagement persist. Teachers employed bilingual strategies, interactive activities, and collaboration with English teachers to overcome these challenges. This study underscores the need for professional development and localized resources to strengthen CLIL practices in similar settings.

Abstract

This article examines research trends on parental involvement in inclusive education in reputable databases. The method used is bibliometric analysis with the Biblioshiny application and the central database analyzed from scopus.com. The keywords used were "parental involvement" and "inclusive education" in research from 1975 to 2024. After the extraction process with only article publications in scientific journals, 170 publication data were obtained. The results of bibliometric analysis show that in nearly 50 years, the number of studies tends to be small—most research centers in the United States, with the most productive institution being the University of Minnesota. At the same time, the most productive researcher is Gabriella Pusztai, who has three publications. The primary reference journal is Early Child and Development Care. When viewed from keywords, child, parent, and parental involvement are the most dominant keywords researchers use. This provides a comprehensive picture of the development of parental involvement research. Furthermore, research is expected to be more contextualized with the socio-cultural conditions where the research is conducted to add to the diversity of research related to parental involvement, especially in inclusive education.
