Abstract

Qibla is the center of direction for Muslims in performing prayer services. In equatorial regions such as Indonesia, an error in determining the Qibla direction of just 1o can make the direction deviate as far as 111 km from the Kaaba. This community service activity aims to socialize the method of determining the direction of Qibla with mapping survey technology, namely Total Station, as well as together with the local community to carry out measurement activities in the field. Community service activities have been carried out in two stages, namely preparation and implementation in the field. Pre-implementation activities include site surveys and preparation of equipment to be used in the field. By using the principle of calculating the spherical triangle in Geodesy Mathematics and utilizing the development of accurate positioning technology, the Total Station and compass are used to measure the Qibla direction after previously correcting the true north with the help of celestial bodies such as the sun. Thus, the measurement results obtained will have good accuracy. From the measurement of the Qibla direction that has been done at the Nurus Sabil mosque, the angle of Qibla direction from north to west is obtained by 66o 50' 59.83" or compass azimuth of 293o 9' 0.17 ". Based on the results of these calculations there are differences in the azimuth of 12° from the azimuth / direction of the mosque's initial Qibla there. This happens because indeed the mosque from its inception has never been carried out the determination and confirmation of the direction of Qibla carefully and officially.

Abstract

Abstract

APPLICATION OF FIELD HYDROACOUSTIC TECHNOLOGY FOR MARINE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Utilization hydroacoustic methods in recent years have become increasingly effective for estimating the abundance of marine fish, especially fish stocks, where is impossible to do with conventional methods approach. Widely hydroacoustic technology has been used to map and classify the content of the resource base of waters and benthic animals that are on the bottom, type of substrate and benthic biota. Target Strength (TS) is the most important factor in the detection and prediction of fish stocks by using hydroacoustic. The TS is a measure that can describe the ability of a target to reflect sound waves that come about it. In the propagation of sound waves, the amount of energy per second will be flowing through the unit certain area perpendicular to the direction of propagation. The amount of energy per second crossing a certain area of the unit refers to as the intensity of the wave. The system of detection and measurement of underwater involves three components, namely medium, targets, and equipment. Sonar equation is built based on the similarity or balance between the parts of the received signal, the desired (called signal) and the unwanted parts (referred noise or noise), depending on the specific sonar functions are applied.

Abstract

APPLICATIONS OF REMOTE SENSING TECHNOLOGY IN COASTAL AND OCEAN Many remote sensing applications are devoted to the coastal and ocean sector. Representative case studies are presented in the special issue “Advances in Remote Sensing of coastal and ocean”. Remote sensing techniques represent a powerful tool for landslide investigation: applications are traditionally sea surface temperature, marine habitat into three main classes, although this subdivision has some limitations and borders are sometimes fuzzy in coastal and ocean. Remote sensing combined with geographic information system (GIS) can be used as a technology tool to obtain information about the object quickly and accurately, including objects in coastal and ocean areas. Remote sensing data on coastal and marine areas specifically for the region in Indonesia have been widely practiced. The use of remote sensing data and GIS in coastal and marine areas can be used to determine sea surface temperature, determination of fish catchment area, and coastline morphological changes by adding other influential parameters. It can also be used to monitor a regional change by using multi-temporal recording data such as disaster monitoring, monitoring of land cover changes in coastal areas etc. Remote sensing data essentially can be used as an alternative technology in obtaining information at a cheaper cost when compared with the conventional way.
