Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi mahasiswa pendidikan matematika dalam menyelesaikan soal Kalkulus. Tiga mahasiswa yang dipilih dari 20 mahasiswa program studi S1 pendidikan matematika Universitas Negeri Surabaya Kelas 2016 U ditetapkan sebagai subjek penelitian. Metode pengumpulan data adalah pemberian soal Kalkulus Integral Lipat Dua dan wawancara berbasis tugas. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dalam menyelesaikan soal Kalkulus, mahasiswa mampu menampilkan ide-ide yang dimilikinya secara multirepresentatif, akurat secara grafis namun tidak lengkap, praktis secara simbolik, tidak runtut dan tidak tepat secara numerik, bahasa yang detail secara verbal tertulis namun kurang fasih dalam verbal lisan, dan kurang mampu menjelaskan hubungan antar jenis representasi.This study aims to describe the representation ability of undergraduate mathematics education students in solving calculus problems. The subjects of this research were three students selected from 20 undergraduate mathematics education students of 2016 U class from The State University of Surabaya. Data collection methods used in this study are written test and tasks-based interview. The results showed that in solving calculus problems, the students were able to display their ideas in multi-representation, accurate but incomplete in graphic, practical in symbolic, not coherently nor precisely in numeric, detail in written verbal but not fluent in spoken verbal, and two of the three students were unable of explaining the relationship between representation types.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan profil pemecahan masalah kreatif siswa MA ditinjau dari tingkat math self-efficacy (MSE). Untuk mencapai tujuan peneliti menggunakan tahapan pemecahan masalah kreatif CPS Versi 6.1 yaitu membangun kesempatan, menggali data, membingkai masalah, membangkitkan ide, mengembangkan solusi, dan membangun penerimaan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 2 siswa yaitu siswa dengan MSE tinggi dan rendah berdasarkan hasil analisis angket the PISA math self-efficacy scale. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah wawancara berbasis tugas untuk mendapatkan data mengenai pemecahan masalah kreatif siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) subjek dengan MSE tinggi malakukan tahapan membangun kesempatan, menggali data, membingkai masalah, membangkitkan ide (melakukan kefasihan, melakukan fleksibilitas, namun tidak melakukan kebaruan),? mengembangkan solusi, dan membangun penerimaan; dan (2) subjek dengan MSE rendah melakukan tahapan membangun kesempatan, membingkai masalah, membangkitkan ide (melakukan kefasihan, melakukan fleksibilitas, namun tidak melakukan kebaruan), mengembangkan solusi, dan membangun penerimaan, namun tidak menggali data.

Abstract

This research is triggered by low students learning outcomes in cube and cuboid material. It was occured because teacher was dominating learning activities. As a resuly, an alternatif learning activities based on flash based animation media. This research is a development of research. The purpose of this research is to produce the direct learning based on Macromedia Flash device which can improve student learning outcomes in class VIII on the topic cube and cuboid. Development of a learning device performed using 4-D models (model Thiagarajan et al). Learning device produced in the form of: (1) Lesson Plan (RPP), (2) Introductional Media Based on Macromedia Flash, (3)Student Worksheet (LKS), and (4) Learning Outcomes (THB).Based on the results of the test device, obtained by the direct learning based on Macromedia Flash have been valid according to the validator and qualified: (1) the ability to manage the learning criteria of good teachers, (2) the activity of students active in the learning process, (3) Classical learning completeness reached, (4) students response positive a learning component, (5) the learning outcomes test meet the criteria for a valid, reliable, and sensitive. Thus, it can be concluded that problem based learning was effective.

Abstract

Creativity is very important in today's modern era so it must be increased by making efforts such as creating learning tools to train students' creativity to raise their problems while solving those problems. The purpose of this study is (1) to describe the quality of learning by using the problem-posing approach to train students' creativity in problem solving; (2) to describe the creativity of students in solving problems in the perimetri and area of rectangle based on problem-posing. This research is a development research. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, tests, observations, and validation methods. The results showed that (1) The problem-posing approach has the quality to increase the creativity of students in solving problems of perimetri and area of rectangle; (2) After learning with problem posing showed that the students' creativity test results increased from the previous test.

Abstract

Masih banyak guru yang mengalami kesulitan dalam melakukan penelitian, sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya yang dapat menumbuhkan sikap, kemampuan dan keterampilan meneliti pada para guru. Untuk keperluan tersebut, Tim Pelaksana melakukan kegiatan PKM yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kualitas proposal PTK yang disusun oleh guru-guru SD di Kecamatan Kasiman Kabupaten Bojonegoro, dan respon peserta. Sebagai khalayak sasaran adalah 40 orang kepala sekolah dan guru SD. Materi tentang Konsep PTK disampaikan dengan setting lecture dan whole class discussion, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan workshop penyusunan proposal PTK. Secara umum peserta merespon positif karena 36 peserta (92,31%) menyatakan bahwa kegiatan pendampingan ini sangat bermanfaat, meskipun waktunya terlalu singkat.

Abstract

Konsep limit fungsi merupakan dasar dalam belajar matematika tingkat lanjut seperti konsep kalkulus dan analisis diantaranya pada materi differensial, integral, kontinuitas, sifat konvergen dan divergen sebuah barisan dan deret, karena itu kemampuan mahasiswa dalam memahami konsep limit fungsi menjadi hal yang sangat penting agar tidak mendapat kesulitan dalam belajar matematika yang saling terkait. Halinimenjadialasanmengapa pemahaman mahasiswayanglengkapterhadapkonsep limit fungsi menjadisesuatuyangsangatpenting. Pemahamanyangdimaksudberkaitan dengankemampuanmahasiswa dalam: (1) merepresentasikan suatu informasi/masalah ke dalam bentuk limit fungsi; (2) menuliskan dan menjelaskan definisi limit fungsi; (3) mengidentifikasi, menjelaskan dan mengaitkan unsur-unsur yang membangun konsep limit fungsi; (4) menemukan/memberikan contoh fungsi yang mempunyai limit atau tidak di suatu titik tertentu beserta alasannya (5) mengevaluasi suatu algoritma atau prosedur penghitungan limit fungsi; dan (6) menerapkan prinsip limit fungsi; dan bukti eksistensi limit suatu fungsi.

Abstract

This design research aims to develop a learning activity which supports the fifth-grade students to understand measurement fraction division problems (A whole number divided by a fraction that result in a whole number answer) conceptually. Furthermore, how students solve the fraction division problem using models is also analyzed. Data for the retrospective analysis is collected through two teaching experiments in the form of students' work, field notes, and some part of classroom discussions. The important findings in this research are: 1) the developed learning activity namely Motivation Cards support students understand that 3 divided by one-half means how many one-half are in 3 through models. However, when the divisor is not a unit fraction they could not directly relate the unshaded part in area model for example. 2) area model is proper model to be firstly introduced when the students work on fraction division. 3) understanding this kind of fraction division help students understand other measurement fraction division where both divisor and dividend are fractions. 4) the learning activity supports the development of character values for students.

Abstract

A significant amount of scholarly investigation has recently focused on metacognitive activity. However, the examination of metacognitive variations in solving math problems that are still limited in scope. This case study examines gender differences in activity variations of metacognitive activities, specifically awareness, regulation, and evaluation, in prospective teachers solving mathematical problems based on mathematical models. Participants were selected through purposive sampling. Twelve male and sixteen female participants were chosen from those who participated in the 'capita selecta' mathematics course at a public university in West Java, Indonesia. The data were collected through mathematical problem-solving tasks and interviews. The results show that the variations in metacognitive activities between male and female participants are different. Females tend to be more complex and structured in their evaluation activities, while males tend to be more complex and structured in their awareness activities. Based on the results, recommendations are made for future studies.

Abstract

Algebraic thinking skills need to be developed in students because this ability focuses students on relationships and representations in problem solving. Three Al Falah Surabaya junior high school students were involved in a descriptive qualitative study to explore the algebraic thinking process of junior high school students in the perspective of their mathematics anxiety and problem solving task. Subject was selected by providing anxiety questionnaire content 30 question with 4 choose answer and use questionnaire, math ability test consist of ten question content of algebra for seven and eight grade from national examination forjunior high school which modified. Data were collected through giving problem solving tasks and interviews. The results of this study showed that students with three different anxieties in solving problems presented three indicators of algebraic thinking, including identification, generalization, and application of generalization. The difference is the success rates in using the algebraic thinking indicators. The recommendation of this study is the importance of special attention and treatment from teachers to students with high anxiety who have a tendency to get confused when understanding the problem.
