Abstract

Hustle culture is a culture that makes individuals adopt workaholism or workaholism behavior. Through the Professional Work Lecture program, Students of the Faculty of Psychology, Makassar State University carry out community service at PT. Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi. The purpose of this service is to prevent hustle culture behavior among employees. The method used is non-training psychoeducation with the help of banners and posters. The method used in data collection is a survey that is distributed via Google form and analyzed descriptively. Based on the survey conducted, it was found that the average employee is in the middle category who experiences the characteristics of hustle culture with a percentage of 72.3%. After employees are given psychoeducation there are 90% of employees at PT. Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi which is committed to reducing hustle culture behavior.

Abstract

This experimental study aimed to examine the effect of emotional labor strategy towards the negative WOM mediated by customer satisfaction. Research of emotional labor context has widely examined its impacts on service employees. The limitations in several studies proved that the opportunity in the indirect effect of emotional labor strategy on negative word of mouth (WOM) is still available. Sixty-two participants were involved in this study and divided into two groups (deep acting versus surface acting) by using videos. PROCESS model moderation proved that emotional labor strategy indirectly affects the negative WOM, mediated by customer satisfaction. This study showed that deep acting strategy can enhance customer satisfaction, therefore the negative WOM can be diminished. In contrast, surface acting strategy affects the decrease of customer satisfaction and thus it can raise the intention of the negative WOM. Emotion modification would be more effective through the deep acting strategy in transmitting the positive emotion for the customer, than modification the expression. The satisfaction felt by the customer will decrease the intention to spread negative information about the service provider to other customers.

Abstract

Brand loyalty on grab being a special concern because the growth of the needs on customers and others company innovation that can effect on online transportation company's performance and success. Brand loyalty can allegedly be influenced through consumer engagement. This study aims to determine the effect of consumer engagement on brand loyalty on grab consumers in Makassar City. The data in this study is that Grab consumers in Makassar City as many as 310 respondents through the google form. The measuring instrument used in this study is the scale of consumer engagement and brand loyalty. The data were analyzed using linear regression analysis techniques. The results showed that there is a positive influence between consumer engagement and brand loyalty. This research illustrates that the higher the consumer engagement, the higher the brand loyalty. This research can inform Grab to build strategy so they can maintain their customer and for the next researchers that consumer engagement can intervene in brand loyalty.

Abstract

Abstrak – Mahasiswa sering kali belum memiliki perencanaan karir yang jelas, sehingga menimbulkan kecemasan dalam menghadapi masa transisi dari dunia pendidikan ke dunia kerja yang kompetitif dan dinamis. Kondisi tersebut disebabkan karena kurangnya pemahaman terhadap potensi diri, minat, dan kompetensi yang dimiliki. Oleh karena itu, pelatihan penyusunan rencana karir dilaksanakan sebagai salah satu upaya untuk mempersiapkan mahasiswa Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Makassar dalam menghadapi tantangan profesional. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesiapan, kepercayaan diri, serta kemampuan mahasiswa untuk bersaing secara optimal dalam dunia kerja. Pelaksanaan kegiatan PKM berfokus pada pelatihan Penyusunan Rencana Karir yang terbagi atas beberapa sesi, yaitu penyampaian materi, diskusi, dan praktik/latihan.  Pelatihan ini melibatkan 184 mahasiswa tingkat akhir Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Makassar. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan penyusunan rencana karir berkontribusi positif terhadap peningkatan kesiapan mahasiswa dalam merancang karir. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini menjadi langkah strategis dalam membentuk lulusan Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran yang kompeten, percaya diri, dan siap kerja.Kata kunci: Mahasiswa, Pelatihan, Penyusunan Rencana Karir

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini membahas efektivitas musik klasik sebagai stimulus daya ingat jangka pendek pada generasi Z. Musik klasik telah lama diyakini mampu meningkatkan konsentrasi dan daya ingat, namun relevansinya pada generasi Z yang tumbuh di era digital menjadi pertanyaan. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan eksperimen dengan desain posttest only terhadap 22 mahasiswa dari Universitas Haluoleo Kendari yang termasuk dalam kategori Generasi Z dengan tingkat kecerdasan rata-rata. Para partisipan dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang diberikan perlakuan mendengarkan musik klasik Mozart dan kelompok kontrol yang tidak diberikan stimulus. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa meskipun beberapa individu masih merasakan manfaat positif, sebagian besar partisipan menunjukkan bahwa musik klasik justru cenderung mengganggu konsentrasi mereka dalam daya ingat jangka pendek. Rata-rata skor daya ingat kelompok kontrol lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok eksperimen, namun hasil uji t-test menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa efektivitas musik klasik sebagai stimulus memori jangka pendek pada Gen Z cenderung menurun, sehingga diperlukan pendekatan baru yang lebih relevan dengan preferensi generasi ini. Kata Kunci: Eksperimen, Music Klasik, Daya Ingat Jangka Pendek, Gen Z  AbstractThis study examines the effectiveness of classical music as a stimulus for short-term memory in Generation Z. While classical music has long been believed to enhance concentration and memory, its relevance to Generation Z who have grown up in the digital era raises questions. This research employed an experimental approach using a posttest-only design involving 22 students from Halu Oleo University in Kendari, all categorized as Generation Z with average intelligence levels. Participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group exposed to Mozart’s classical music and a control group that received no auditory stimulus. The results indicated that although some individuals reported positive effects, the majority found that classical music tended to disrupt their concentration during short-term memory tasks. The control group showed a higher average memory score than the experimental group; however, a t-test revealed no statistically significant difference between the two. The study concludes that the effectiveness of classical music as a short-term memory stimulus for Generation Z appears to be declining, suggesting a need for new approaches that better align with the preferences of this generation. Keywords: Experiment, Classical Music, Short Term Attention Span, Gen Z

Abstract

One of the challenges for workers or employees is balancing time for work with their personal life, which is commonly called work life balance. The aim of providing work life balance psychoeducation in this social service is to provide an understanding of the importance of work life balance to PT. Sinar Sosro Kantor Penjualan Wilayah Kalimantan Sulawesi employees. The method uses intervention in the form of psychoeducation including psychoeducational preparation (conducting FGDs and surveys), implementing psychoeducation, administering pre-tests and post-tests. The implementation of work life balance psychoeducation was attended by 32 participants from PT. Sinar Sosro Kantor Penjualan Wilayah Kalimantan Sulawesi employees whose work placement is at the Kantor Penjualan Wilayah office. The results of this service show that the work life balance psychoeducation activities carried out can provide employees with an understanding of the importance of work life balance itself. This understanding includes what work life balance is, the concept of work life balance, factors that influence work life balance, signs of poor work life balance, and ideal work life balance.

Abstract

The work behavior of ASN teachers in everyday life is based on the value of BerAKHLAK. The implementation of BerAKHLAK values cannot be achieved if civil servants do not know and understand these values. ASN Teacher service activities aim to provide knowledge related to the value of BerAKHLAK by exploring self-awareness and application of these values in the teacher's daily work activities. The approach method carried out in instilling BerAKHLAK values uses coaching groups. The participants of the activity were 31 ASN MAN 2 Polewali Mandar teachers. The activity of providing BerAKHLAK material and coaching group was carried out for 120 minutes (2 hours). ASN teachers show high involvement in participating in activities. The evaluation results show that training activities are considered useful and relevant in instilling BerAKHLAK values for ASN teachers.

Abstract

Organizational commitment refers to employees’ involvement, trust, and loyalty toward the organization, and it plays a key role in employee retention and improving company performance. This study aims to examine the influence of person-job fit—the compatibility between an individual and their job—on organizational commitment among car salespersons. Using a quantitative method with simple regression linear analysis and accidental sampling, data were collected from 140 respondents through the person-job fit scale translated by Astuti and Amir (2023) from Lauver and Kristof-Brown (2001), and the organizational commitment scale by Mowday, Porter, and Steers (1979), adapted by Rahmat, Bakar, and Anwar (2022). The results of simple linear regression show that person-job fit has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment (R² = 0.138; β = 0.371; F = 22.026; p 0.001), indicating that the higher the person-job fit, the stronger the organizational commitment among salespersons. These findings suggest that companies should emphasize the recruitment process to enhance person-job fit, thereby increasing employee loyalty and productivity.

Abstract

The existence of inconsistent nursing practices in realizing quality services causes complaints experienced by both patients and nurses. This inconsistency can be attributed to various factors, two of which are emotional labor and burnout. Emotional labor, specifically deep acting and surface acting, plays a significant role in how nurses regulate their emotions to meet professional expectations, which may impact their perceived service quality. Meanwhile, burnout, characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment, is a psychological response to prolonged work-related stress and is commonly experienced by nurses in high-pressure environments. This study aims to determine the effect of deep acting and surface acting on service quality, with burnout as a mediating variable. The research utilized a quantitative survey design. Respondents consisted of 249 nurses selected through cluster random sampling. Instruments used in this study included the Service Quality Scale, Emotional Labor Scale, and Burnout Scale. Mediation testing was conducted using Hayes' PROCESS macro to analyze the indirect effects. The analysis results showed that burnout significantly mediates the relationship between emotional labor and service quality. Specifically, burnout mediates the effect of deep acting (b = 0.20, 95% CI [0.05–0.37]) and surface acting (b = 0.20, 95% CI [–0.40 to –0.132]) on service quality. These findings indicate that both deep acting and surface acting influence service quality, either directly or through the mediating effect of burnout. Understanding these relationships is crucial for hospital management to develop strategies that reduce burnout and promote effective emotional regulation among nurses. Interventions such as emotional resilience training and supportive work environments may help enhance service quality by managing emotional labor more effectively and reducing the negative impact of burnout.

Abstract

Decision quality is the result obtained from the decision-making process influenced by the way of thinking used (conscious and unconscious thought). This experimental research consisted of two groups, namely conscious thought and unconscious thought groups. This study aims to determine whether there is a difference in the quality of the decision to choose electronic products (laptops) between participants who think consciously (conscious thought) and unconsciously (unconscious thought). Participants in this research were 53 students in Makassar City (18-25 years). This study used the experimental method between-subjects design, randomized two groups design. The results of data analysis using Mann Whitney U showed a significance value (p) of 0.001 (p < 0.05). The results of the study show that there are differences in the quality of the decision to choose electronic products (laptops) for participants who think consciously (conscious thought) and unconsciously (unconscious thought). Participants in the unconscious thought group produced objectively better-quality decisions than participants in the conscious thought group. This research contributes to complex decision-making that can generate good quality decisions objectively when individuals rely on unconscious thought processes.
