Abstract

Convection heat transfer rate on a flat plate with a certain temperature can be increased by increasing the average heat transfer coefficient, increasing the surface area of heat transfer or both. In this study, stones and marbles were used as specimens of porous media with a diameter of 15 mm with a rock porosity of 43.8%, and marbles of 50.3% which were packed on a flat plate and tested in a rectangular air channel with an air velocity of 1 m /. s, 2 m / s, 3 m / s, 4 m / s, 5 m / s. Take experimental measurements on a heater set at 220 V. After steady conditions are established, record the temperature on the flat plate and the ambient air temperature. The highest Nusselt number occurs on flat plates with rock specimens of 69.025 and the highest convection heat transfer occurs on flat plates without porous media at 44.98 Watt, while convection heat transfer on flat plates with rock-porous media is lower than flat plates with porous media marbles. The friction factor decreases as the Reynold number increases. The greater the Reynold number, Nusselt number and the Convection heat transfer, followed by a decrease in the friction factor

Abstract

Indonesia is an area with a fairly high intensity of sunlight because of its position on the equator. Its solar energy potential reaches 207.9 GW, while its use is only about 78.5 MW. Therefore, many studies have been conducted on the application of solar thermal energy which is a renewable energy source. One application of solar energy is used for the drying process of a material. In general, people in Indonesia still use traditional drying systems because solar energy is obtained free of charge and does not run out, so traditional drying is relatively cheap. The purpose of this study is to achieve the highest collector temperature by using heat absorption material on the absorber used in the solar collector with several variations of the absorber so as to optimize the heat temperature of the solar collector. This study tested the type of absorber of the most optimal heat absorption material on a solar collector with a slope angle of 1300 and 4 absorber variations, namely (1) iron sand and gram iron, (2) iron sand, (3) hot mix asphalt, and (4) asphalt and iron sand. This research was carried out by describing the tools designed with the preparation of measuring instruments, data collection and data processing carried out on the front page of the Faculty of Engineering and the Laboratory of Thermal Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Syiah Kuala University. The tools used for the four flat plate solar collectors with the equipment and materials used in this study were wood (boards and beams) as a frame, mica plastic as a collector cover, iron sand and iron gram absorber material, iron sand, hot mix asphalt, asphalt. and iron sand, and rubber wood lat as insulation. The results showed that the distribution of air temperature along the channel tends to increase very sharply, especially in the bend area, this is due to sharp turns which result in flow turbulence. Thus, the highest temperature obtained for each absorber variation of sand and gram iron, iron sand, hot mix asphalt, and asphalt and iron sand with temperatures of 860C, 810C, 830C, and 840C. In this study, the intensity of sunlight is only 857.12 W/m2.

Abstract

The manufacture of plastic products is carried out using the Plastic Injection Molding (PIM) method. The Injection Molding method is the process of forming a workpiece from granular compound material which is placed into a hopper and enters the injection cylinder which is then pushed through the nozzle. The materials used in this research are as follows: Polypropylene (PP) Plastic Seeds and the selected temperatures are 160C, 170C, 180C, 190C, 200C. After conducting several experiments on temperature variations of moving and stationary molds, it is known that the mold must have the right temperature to produce the product. This can be seen from the results of the research that the right mold temperature is 71C at rest and the heating temperature for moving molds is 63C the result is that the product has dried.

Abstract

Steel ST 37 which is equivalent to AISI (The American Iron Steel Institute) is one of the steels produced for the manufacture of various machine components. To improve the mechanical properties and material structure of ST 37 Steel, it is necessary to carry out the heat treatment (annealing) process. The objective of this study was to determine the annealing treatment of ST 37 steel on hardness and tensile strength to analyze the tensile test on ST 37 steel before and after annealing treatment and to analyze the hardness test of ST 37 steel before and after annealing treatment. The annealing process is carried out by preparing the test material and inserting the test material into the furnace and tightly closing the door of the heat treatment furnace. Set the temperature to be used in the test, which is 500C, and held for 60 minutes. Then turn off the furnace and leave the test specimens in the furnace for 72 hours to cool through the air cooling medium, after which tensile and hardness tests are carried out. The test results of the tensile test specimens with the ASTM E8/E8M standard and the hardness test specimens with the ASTM E18 standard are, the average value of the tensile test results before the annealing process is 50.65 kgf/mm and the average value of the tensile test results after the annealing process is 31.45 kgf/mm. While the average value of the hardness test before the annealing process was 75.22 HRA and the average value of the hardness test after the annealing process was 67.63 HRA. From these results, ST 37 steel before the annealing process has higher hardness and tensile strength. However, in subsequent tests, harder specimens can be used compared to ST 37 Steel specimens, and in the use of heat treatment furnaces, it is preferable to be in a state of heat safety.

Abstract

Cooling Tower or cooling tower is a technology used in the industrial world, cooling tower works to cool water fluid by using wind power that comes from a fan or blower, how the cooling tower works is basically hot water coming from the machine is flowed to the cooling tower then water through the fill-fills that are in the cooling tower and in direct contact with the air, the cooling tower is focused on reducing the temperature of the inlet water until it leaves it, while the water temperature reading uses a thermocouple sensor. A thermocouple is a temperature sensor capable of reading temperatures from -200 ℃ to 1200 ℃. This cooling tower uses arduino mega circuit, PCB board, MAX6675 module and thermocouple. How to read the temperature on the cooling tower using a computer or laptop with Microsoft Excel that is already connected to the PLX-DAQ software. The data that has been obtained is then tested using SPSS (Statiscal Product and Service Solutions) software, testing using 3 types, namely normal distribution, standard deviation, and reliability. The overall results of the thermocouple sensor on the Wet Cooling Tower show normal performance according to statistical testing, including normal distribution, standard deviation, and reliability. All data and values obtained have met the established standards

Abstract

This research aims to design and develop a 4 band resistor color code calculator application based on the Java programming language. This calculator is designed to help electronics technicians identify resistor values based on the color code found on 4 band resistors. This application provides an intuitive and user-friendly interface that allows users to enter the color of each band on a resistor and quickly displays the corresponding resistance value. Apart from that, this application can also provide the tolerance of a given resistor. The development method used in this research includes needs analysis, user interface design, implementation of resistance value calculation algorithms, and application testing. This application is implemented using the Java programming language and supported by the JavaFX graphic library to create an attractive interface. Test results show that this application can calculate resistance values accurately and is responsive to user input. With this application, it is hoped that users can easily and quickly identify the resistance value of 4 band resistors, increase efficiency in their work, and reduce the possibility of errors in deciphering resistor color codes.

Abstract

Coolant and twist drill angle is one of the factors that affect the quality of the workpiece. Coolant selection and twist drill angle are useful for reducing hole roughness and increasing drill hole precision. In addition, the coolant must be easily degraded in the environment so that the environment is not polluted. An example of coconut oil is oil that can be degraded in the environment. This study aims to determine the effect of coconut oil (CO) and drill bit angle on the hole and hole precision obtained during the drilling process. In experimental testing, conventional drilling machines are used for test testing. the tests were carried out under various machining parameters, namely spindle rotation speed of 1100 rpm, drill bit angles of 130° and 135°. Based on these parameters, the spindle rotation speed of 1100 rpm and the drill bit angle of 135° is rougher than the drilling results for the spindle rotation speed of 1100 rpm and the drill bit angle of 130°. In addition, the roundness of the drilled holes for a spindle rotational speed of 1100 rpm and a drill bit angle of 130° is more precise than the spindle rotation speed of 1100 rpm and a drill bit angle of 135°.

Abstract

Kelor merupakan tanaman super food yang dapat diolah untuk berbagai jenis suplemen seperti kapsul, teh celup,bubur, bahan kosmetik, sabun dan untuk keperluan kesehatan dan kosmetik. Saat ini mitra mengalami keterbatasan dalam melakukan proses produksi terutama dalam sistem pencucian daun kelor yang akan diolah menjadi berbagai produk turunan tersebut. Proses pencucian daun kelor masih dilakukan secara manual yaitu menggunakan  ember  dan  tanpa  saringan  sehingga  mengakibatkan  jumlah produksi ketika panen tidak sama dengan hasil akhirnya. Kegiatan kemandirian masyarakat  ini  berupaya  memecahkan  permasalahan  mitra,  yakni  dengan  rancang bangun mesin pencuci diharapkan menjadi solusi terhadap persolan mitra pada bidang produksi. Pada bidang pengelolaan kelompok, tim juga melakukan tambahan kegiatan berupa manajemen kelompok, manajemen keuangan, dan juga sistem budidaya yaitu teknik pemangkasan daun.Tim  pelaksana  telah  melakukan  proses  rancang  bangun  mesin  pencuci,  disertai dengan pelatihan manajemen mutu dan perawatan mesin sehingga mitra mampu melakukan proses produksi sesuai dengan standar perusahaan. Pelatihan operasional dan pemeliharaan mesin juga diberikan sehingga mitra mampu  mengoperasionalkan  mesin  sesuai  dengan penggunaannya  dan  mampu merawat mesin, sehingga mesin dapat digunakan untuk waktu jangka panjang. Hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah mesin pencuci daun yang juga disebut mesin Spiner yakni bentuk mesin pencuci dan peniris paling sederhana dengan kapasitas produksi yang relatif rendah sehingga mitra dapat memilih untuk dioperasikan secara manual atau sepenuhnya otomatis. Dengan penggunaan mesin ini nantinya dapat   meminimalisasi kehilangan daun akibat pencucian dan meningkatkan jumlah produksi atau penjualan dengan standar kebersihan yang diinginkan konsumen. Edukasi Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) dari mesin bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada  mitra  tentang  kesehatan  dan  kesalamatan  kerja  yang  baik diterapkan agar mitra tetap terjaga dan terhindar dari hal-hal yang berbahaya. Edukasi mengenai manajemen kelompok sehingga mitra dapat mengorganisir kinerja anggota dan sistem pengelolaan keuangan sederhana. Edukasi mitra terkait teknik pemangkasan  sehingga mitra dapat memproduksi daun kelor sesuai pertumbuhan tanaman.

Abstract

Bisnis baglog saat ini  merupakan usaha yang menjanjikan seiring dengan pertumbuhan jumlah petani yang melakukan budidaya jamur. Kelompok Tani Usaha Bersama merupakan salah satu kelompok tani dengan binis pembutan baglog. In running their businesses, various problems faced by farmer groups include a lack of productivity and efficiency in the production process and suboptimal marketing. Bahan baku utama dalam pembuatan baglog adalah serbuk kayu karena mengandung sumber nutrisi untuk pertumbuhan jamur. Saat ini proses pembuatan baglog dilakukan secara manual sehingga diperlukan teknologi yang dapat memperbaiki kualitas dan kuantitas baglog yang dihasilkan. Dalam hal ini perlu perbaikan sistem pengolahan dengan teknologi tepat guna yaitu Mesin Pengaduk Baglog. Kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah sosialisasi dan diskusi dengan mitra tentang kebutuhan mesin dalam proses produksi yaitu mesin pengaduk baglog, pelatihan penggunaan mesin, pelatihan K3. Saat ini mitra dapat meminimalisir kerusakan baglog setelah penggunaan mesin pengaduk dari 20 persen menjadi 5 persen dengan kapasitas produksi 1.500 per hari. Alokasi waktu yang digunakan dari 7 jam per hari menjadi 5 jam per hari.

Abstract

Background: Learning media training is one of the important factors in improving learning outcomes, with learning media that suits the needs, especially students of SMK Teknologi Yayasan Pendidikan Sinar Husni can understand learning. The purpose of the implementation of the community partnership program (PKM) is to produce interactive learning media that is valid, practical and effective to help students of SMK Teknologi master the field of Electronics and Control. Method: The method for implementing Community Partnership Service activities for SMK Teknologi Yayasan Pendidikan Sinar Husni, Department of Electrical Engineering / Electricity, is by first making observations to the location of the School where the Community Service is held, as well as sharing with several Electrical Engineering teachers.  This is done to identify service methods that are in accordance with the conditions of the Community Partnership Service Team Partners in the field, so that later it will be right on target. Result: This activity can make and understand basic Arduino Uno learning media and implement it well. Conclusion: It is hoped that in the future this activity can inspire and motivate the participants and can innovate in the development of science and technology in the world of Electronics and Control Instrumentation to support the Industrial Revolution 4.0 program.
