Abstract

This study aims to examine the potential and challenges of utilizing Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in Medan City, which is geographically located near the equator and receives high exposure to sunlight throughout the year. The method used is a literature review with a narrative review approach that analyzes secondary data from various journals and relevant scientific articles. The results of the study show that Medan City has an average annual horizontal global solar radiation intensity of 463.61 W/m², with the potential for electrical power that can be generated from rooftop solar panels reaching 748.57 MW (monocrystalline), 598.85 MW (polycrystalline), and 299.43 MW (thin film). This potential is comparable to the capacity of large-scale power plants. The use of PLTS contributes to reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy security, creating jobs, and developing the local economy. However, challenges such as high installation costs, limited suitability of roof structures, and low public awareness are still major obstacles in the implementation of this technology. Therefore, synergy is needed between government policies, public education, and technological innovation to optimize the use of solar energy in urban areas such as Medan.

Abstract

Lake Singkarak is a tectonic lake that plays a vital role in supporting the economic life of the surrounding community, especially traditional fishermen in Nagari Sumpur. However, pressure on the ecosystem and the decline in the population of bilih fish pose a threat to the sustainability of fishermen's livelihoods. This study aims to analyze the form of community empowerment carried out and its impact on improving the fishermen's economy. The study was conducted through a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that although an empowerment program had been carried out through assistance with fishing gear and PAP funds, its sustainability was not well maintained. Fishermen's income has not shown a significant increase, and tourism development has not fully touched their welfare. A more integrated strategy is needed between the fisheries and tourism sectors to realize sustainable empowerment.

Abstract

Fermentation of ikan bekasam is a traditional process that involves the activity of microorganisms to produce a product with distinct taste, aroma, and texture. This process includes various microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and yeasts, that play a crucial role in the transformation of fish properties during fermentation. This study aims to isolate, identify, and characterize the microorganisms involved in the fermentation of ikan bekasam using Gram staining and specific staining techniques. The isolation process was carried out using selective media to grow microorganisms from the bekasam samples, including both the fish and the fermentation liquid. Microorganism identification was performed by observing colony morphology, microscopic characteristics, and biochemical reactions. Gram staining was used to differentiate between Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, while specific staining techniques were employed to detect certain cellular structures that aid in the identification of microorganisms. The characterization of microorganisms included an analysis of their physiological and biochemical properties, such as their ability to produce enzymes or secondary metabolites that play a role in fermentation and the development of the characteristic bekasam flavor. The results of the study showed that ikan bekasam contains a variety of microorganisms, including lactic acid bacteria such as Lactobacillus spp. and Pediococcus spp., which play a primary role in fermentation by providing the characteristic sourness. In addition, yeasts such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae were found in the bekasam samples, contributing to the fermentation process. Fungi, such as Aspergillus spp., were also isolated, although their role in the fermentation of ikan bekasam is more limited. This study provides insights into the diversity of microorganisms involved in the fermentation of ikan bekasam and their potential applications in the food industry. These findings open up opportunities to optimize the fermentation process by utilizing these microorganisms to produce more consistent and high-quality bekasam. Future research could further explore the optimal conditions for improving the quality of this fermented product.

Abstract

The purpose of this activity is so that the environment of Batu Bersurat Village, XIII Koto Kampar District, Kampar Regency can become a clean and uncontaminated environment from cow dung. Cow dung can be processed into compost. Compost is an organic fertilizer made from animal waste that has undergone a fermentation process. The advantage of this compost is that it is environmentally friendly, can increase the income of farmers, and can increase soil fertility by repairing physical damage to the soil due to excessive use of inorganic (chemical) fertilizers. Batu Bersurat Village is an area with potential in agriculture, plantation and animal husbandry. The existence of cattle owned by the community has the potential to be used as compost which can be used for agriculture as well as for the fertility of plantation crops. However, the lack of knowledge of residents about the methods and benefits of making compost from cow manure causes cow manure to be thrown away, therefore people still use chemical fertilizers as a medium for the fertility of their plants. Therefore, a practice was held to make use of compost from cow manure in Batu Bersurat Village, District XIII Koto Kampar, Kampar Regency.

Abstract

Problems that cannot be separated from the agricultural sector, especially in Kec. Percut Sei Tuan, Kab. Deli Serdang is the use of chemical pesticides in agriculture. The use of pesticides in agriculture can have positive and negative consequences for the environment and also the health of farmers. The abundance of onion skin waste is another way that can be optimized for its use as a standard ingredient for making organic pesticides. The aim of this research is to transform the use of chemical pesticides into organic pesticides. The practical method used in this journal is qualitative. Making pesticides from onion skin waste can be used to control pest attacks and rice plant diseases. Using onion skin waste as an environmentally friendly pesticide is a more sustainable alternative and has a smaller negative impact on the environment compared to using chemical pesticides.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate how using animation media affects elementary school pupils' learning of the natural sciences (IPA). An experiment with a pre- and post-test control group design was the study methodology employed. Two sets of primary school pupils, each with 26 students in a classroom, made up the research sample. The experimental group received instruction using animation medium, whereas the other group was given conventional learning without animation media (control group). Learning outcome data is measured through tests that are relevant to the science material being taught. A difference test between pre- and post-test scores, together with statistical comparisons between the two groups, were used to analyze the data. According to the study's findings, using animation media considerably enhances primary school pupils' scientific learning outcomes when it comes to traditional teaching strategies. These results confirm that animation media can be a useful teaching tool that helps elementary school pupils understand science subjects more fully while also being engaging for them. This study significantly advances the creation of more creative and pertinent learning strategies to improve students' academic achievement in science at the elementary school level

Abstract

This research aims to describe the effect of implementing the collaborative learning model on students' learning motivation in grade 3 Mathematics at SDN 095550 Jl.Asahan. Collaborative learning emphasizes cooperation between students to solve problems, share knowledge, and help each other in achieving learning goals. Collaborative learning can increase student motivation, engagement and overall learning outcomes. The results of the research show that the collaborative learning model has a positive and significant effect on increasing student motivation in grade 3 Mathematics at SDN 095550 Jl. Asahan. The results of the research can be concluded that the application of the collaborative learning model can be used by students in elementary school mathematics learning to increase student motivation and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) merupakan pilar penting perekonomian Indonesia, namun sering menghadapi tantangan dalam mengatur produksi dan meraih keuntungan maksimal akibat keterbatasan sumber daya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau secara sistematis (Systematic Literature Review/SLR) literatur yang relevan mengenai penggunaan metode Simpleks sebagai alat bantu untuk meningkatkan keuntungan produksi pada UMKM di Indonesia. Dengan menganalisis jurnal-jurnal utama yang diterbitkan dalam delapan tahun terakhir, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi pola, efektivitas, serta hambatan dalam penerapan Simpleks. Hasil tinjauan menunjukkan bahwa metode Simpleks terbukti sesuai dan efektif dalam mengatur berbagai batasan sumber daya (seperti bahan baku, waktu kerja, dan kapasitas mesin) untuk menentukan kombinasi produk dan jumlah produksi yang paling menguntungkan di berbagai sektor UMKM. Temuan ini menyoroti potensi Simpleks dalam memperbaiki efisiensi operasional dan profitabilitas UMKM, didukung oleh penggunaan perangkat lunak yang mempermudah aplikasinya. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman praktis bagi pelaku UMKM dan menjadi dasar bagi penelitian lanjutan di bidang peningkatan produksi.
