Abstract

In recent years, the banking sector in Indonesia has attracted significant attention due to its role in the country's economic development. As a vital component of the financial system, banks play a crucial role in allocating funds, supporting economic activities, and ensuring financial stability. Amidst the evolving landscape of financial markets and regulatory changes, understanding the factors that influence the performance of conventional banks has become a pertinent area of research. This study aims to test and analyze the effect of credit risk, measured by non-performing loans, and liquidity risk, measured by liquid assets to total assets, as well as control variables such as bank size, gross domestic product, and inflation on bank performance, measured by return on assets in 39 conventional banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for 5 years (2016 - 2020). This study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing panel data analysis – a blend of time series and cross-sectional data. The results of the analysis show that non-performing loans have a negative and significant effect on return on assets. Liquid assets to total assets also have a negative and significant effect on return on assets. The control variable of bank size has a positive and significant effect on return on assets. Similarly, the control variable of gross domestic product has a positive and significant effect on return on assets. Additionally, the inflation control variable has a positive and significant effect on return on assets.

Abstract

The dimension of the audit committee influences effective corporate management and can control risks arising from uncertainty, playing a vital role in enhancing a company's value. This research aims to examine the impact of Corporate Governance and Risk Management on the value of banking companies in two ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia and Malaysia, by collecting data from 41 Indonesian banks and 10 banks in Malaysia using a purposive sampling method, as well as utilizing secondary data from both the Indonesia Stock Exchange and the Malaysian Stock Exchange spanning 2019 through 2022. Data processing involved multiple regression analysis and Eviews 9. The research findings indicate that the size of LNBDSIZE and AGE has a positive impact, BDINDEP, BLAU, OWNC, ACS, and LNSIZE have no significant effect, while LVG has a negative impact. This study benefits financial managers in understanding the factors influencing the value of companies in the banking industry, namely Corporate Governance and Risk Management. Investors can gain insights into the factors affecting company valuation and identify potential risks as a basis for selecting investments in companies with sound financial ratios and risk management.

From the activity carried out, participants felt that the material provided was interesting, the material was easy to understand, and the material provided could increase knowledge and abilities. The participants also considered that the appointed resource persons had competence with the material presented and could convey the material. Overall, the participants were satisfied with the implementation of this community service activity. In addition, from a brief measurement carried out, MSME actors in these fostered partners still depend on security factors to be able to adopt the fintech platform. In addition, participants are also still dependent on a series of perceived ease-of-use factors for the fintech platform.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the impact of ownership structure, board size, proportion of independent directors, funding decisions, company size, and dividend policy on the performance of consumer goods manufacturing companies. Purposive sampling was employed for data collection. Results indicate that ownership structure and board size positively and significantly influence company performance, as measured by Tobin's Q and ROA. However, the proportion of independent directors, funding decisions, company size, and dividend policy do not exhibit significant effects. Consequently, effective management of ownership structure and board size is crucial for enhancing company performance in the consumer goods manufacturing sector. These findings provide valuable insights for companies to improve their performance and corporate governance practices, fostering stability and sustainability in alignment with economic trends.

The data used in this study is primary data sourced from the results of surveys to investors who invested in stocks on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for more than one year. Questionnaires were distributed to respondents and obtained as many as 350 answers of qualified respondents. Data analysis used for hypothesis testing is structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis using smart PLS 3 applications. The results showed that excessive risky behavior bias had a positive and significant influence on the investment decision-making process. In addition, investor type variables are proven to also moderate the direction of negative relationships between habitual behavioral bias following the community in investors and the investment decision-making process.
