Abstract

The development of science and technology has significantly transformed the way people think and interact in modern societies, including Indonesia. This study aims to analyze how science influences the mindset of Indonesian society, focusing on the acceptance of technology and popular science. Using a descriptive-empirical approach, this research employs literature review and secondary survey analysis from sources such as OECD PISA (2022), UNESCO Science Report (2023), and BRIN (2023). The findings indicate that Indonesia’s scientific literacy remains below the global average, with cultural and religious factors playing a crucial role in shaping attitudes toward science and technology. Although public perception of science is generally positive, there is a gap between interest and practical engagement, particularly among students. Media exposure and popular science content significantly mediate the formation of scientific attitudes, but low digital literacy often leads to misinformation. The study concludes that the integration of science education with socio-cultural and ethical values is essential to fostering a rational, open-minded, and evidence-based public mindset in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pancasila Education needs to be introduced from an early age because it plays an important role in shaping students’ morals, character, and attitudes, as well as fostering an understanding of rights and responsibilities as citizens. However, many fourth-grade elementary school students still experience difficulties in distinguishing between rights and responsibilities. Therefore, this study aimed to develop truth or dare card media based on game-based learning in Pancasila Education for fourth-grade elementary school students. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D development model, which consists of define, design, develop, and disseminate. Product validation involved media experts, material experts, and language experts. Product trials were conducted through one-to-one testing involving 3 students, a small group involving 10 students, and a field test involving 21 fourth-grade elementary school students. The data analysis technique used was descriptive statistics. The results showed that the truth or dare card media based on game-based learning obtained validation scores of 99% from media experts, 100% from material experts, and 98% from language experts, indicating that the media was valid and highly feasible for use. Student responses showed average scores of 93% in the one-to-one trial, 92% in the small-group trial, and 99% in the field test, which were categorized as highly feasible. Thus, the truth or dare card media was able to create a more engaging and interactive learning atmosphere.
