Abstract

This study aimed to examine the quality of frozen sperm of duroc boar in modified Tris diluent with different equilibration time. Semen was collected from two duroc males and evaluated macroscopically and microscopically. Semen with motility 75%, concentration 200x106 cell/mL and abnormality <20% was diluted in Tris modified diluent, then held for two hours at room temperature (27-28ºC). The semen that has been in the holding time is then centrifuged at 2000 rpm for 15 minutes. The pellet from centrifuge were diluted again with modified Tris diluent + 3% glycerol. The diluted semen was packed in 0,50 mL mini straws and equilibrated according to the treatment equilibration time, namely P1: 1 hour equilibration time, P2: 2 hour equilibration time, P3: 3 hour equilibration time. After equilibration , it was frozen over liquid nitrogen vapor (-110ºC) at a distance of 5 cm for 10 minutes, then stored in liquid nitrogen (-196ºC) and left for 24 hours. Then thawing with warm water at 37ºC for 30 seconds in a water bath. The result showed that motility, viability, abnormality, intact plasma membrane and recovery rate were significantly higher (P<0,05) at two hour equilibration , namely 23.12%, 45.44%, 4.65%, 50,15%, 33.03% respectively compared to one and two hour equilibration time, namely 20%, 42.17%, 8.19%, 42.67%, 28.57% and 16,87%, 36.39%, 7.64%, 37.73%, 24.99% respectively. This study conclude that the equilibration time of two hours resulted in higher quality of frozen sperm of duroc boar than one and three hours.

Abstract

One of the diluent containing lipoproteins and lecithins that function in maintaining and protecting the integrity of the plasma membrane of spermatozoa from cold shock is soy milk. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the combination of soy bean milk and egg yolk citrate liqud on the quality of liquid semen of bali cattle. The material used in this study was fresh semen of 3 year old bali cattle. Semen was diluted with egg yolk citrate diluent with a combination of soy bean milk, namely T0: 100% citrate egg yolk (CEY); T1: CEY 75%+soy bean milk (SBM) 25%; T2: CEY 50%+SBM 50%; T3: CEY 25%+SBM 75%; and T4: 100% SBM. Liqud semen was stored at a temperature of 3-5oC. The parameter studied were motility, viability, abnormality and liveability of spermatozoa. The research data ware analyzed using an analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by the multiple range test. The results showed that T1 significantly difference (P<0.05) from other treatments, with motility of 42.40±2.50%, viability 52.15±6.31%, abnormality 6.44±0.84%, and liveability 6.00±0.00 days. From these result it could be concluded that the combination of 25% soy bean milk and 75% egg yolk citrate liqud was the best treatment, and spermatozoa can be stored until six days.

Abstract

Lactose is the only carbohydrate found in milk and serves as an additional source of energy and protects the plasma membrane of spermatozoa from damage due to cold shock during storage at low temperatures. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of adding lactose in tris and citrate diluents on the quality of liquid semen. One 3 year old angus cow in healthy condition. Semen was diluted with diluent P0: Tris-egg yolk (T-EY) 100%, P1: Citrate-egg yolk (C-EY) 100%, P2: T-EY 50 %+C-EY 50%, P3: T-EY 50%+ C-EY 50%+Lactose 1.5g, P4: T-EY 50%+ C-EY 50%+Lactose 3.0g, P5: T- EY 50%+ C-EY 50%+Lactose 4.5g. After diluted cement is stored at a temperature of 3-5oC. Semen was evaluated post dilution and every 24 hours of storage for motility, viability, abnormalities and survival of spermatozoa. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's test. The results of this study showed that the P3 (P>0.05) treatment was the best compared to other treatments, namely the percentage of spermatozoa motility values of 43.50±2.23%, spermatozoa viability was 53.07±3.36%, spermatozoa abnormalities were 8.01±2.14%, and spermatozoa survival was 6.60.00±0.54 days. The results of this study indicate that using a combination of T-EY and C-EY diluents with the addition of 1.5g lactose is the best diluent in maintaining the quality of liquid semen of angus cattle.

Abstract

This study aims to find the best level of sun-dried Moringa leaf extract (SDMLE) in Beltsville Thawing Solution (BTS) diluent to preserve the spermatozoa of Landrace boars. Semen from a two-year-old Landrace boar was collected using the massage method. Semen with spermatozoa motility ≥70% and spermatozoa abnormalities <20% was diluted with BTS (P0, control), BTS + 3% SDMLE (P1), BTS + 6% SDMLE (P2), BTS + 9% SDMLE (P3), and BTS + 12% SDMLE (P4). Storage of liquid semen using a cool box with a temperature of 15-20oC, while evaluating the quality of semen every 8 hours for spermatozoa motility, viability, abnormality, and longevity. The results showed that spermatozoa stored for 40 hours in BTS + 3% SDMLE (P1) diluent had higher quality (P<0.05) than the other four diluents, namely motility (54.00%), viability (61.16%), abnormality (3.62%), and longevity (45.77%). The results of this study concluded that 3% SDMLE added to BTS diluent was the best level for the preservation of spermatozoa in landrace boars.

Abstract

The purpose of research is to test the influence of corn flour substitution with fermented banana rodsagainst consumption and digestion of protein, consumption and digestion of energy in pig cattle durocphase grower. The material used is 12 pigtails duroc phase grower that has a starting weight of 45-55kg with an average of 51.25 kg (KV=7,02%). This research uses a complete random design (RAL)with 4 treatments and 3 repeats. The treatment used is P0: the bed without the mixture of fermentedbanana stem, P1: the ration contains 5% fermented banana rod, P2: the ration contains 10% offermented banana stems and P3: the ration contains 15% of fermented banana stems. The measuredvariable is the consumption and digestion of protein and energy. Analysis results show the influence ofcorn flour substitution with fermented banana stems of 5, 10 and 15 intangible effects (P>0,05) againstprotein ingestion, energy consumption and energy ingestion, and real effect (P<0,05) against proteinconsumption. It is concluded that the substitution of corn flour with fermented banana stems up to 15%level increases protein consumption but up to 15% level increases protein consumption and lowersrational consumption, protein ingestion, energy consumption and energy in pigs doruc phase grower. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menguji pengaruh substitusi tepung jagung dengan batang pisangterfermentasi terhadap konsumsi dan kecernaan protein, konsumsi dan kecernaan energi pada ternakbabi duroc fase grower. Materi yang digunakan adalah 12 ekor ternak babi duroc fase grower yangmemiliki berat badan awal 45-55 kg dengan rataan 51,25 kg (KV=7,02%). Penelitian ini menggunakanrancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalahP0: ransum tanpa campuran batang pisang terfermentasi, P1: ransum mengandung 5% batang pisangterfermentasi, P2: ransum mengandung 10% batang pisang terfermentasi dan P3: ransum mengandung15% batang pisang terfermentasi. Variabel yang diukur adalah konsumsi dan kecernaan protein danenergi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan pengaruh substitusi tepung jagung dengan batang pisangterfermentasi sebanyak 5, 10 dan 15 berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap kecernaan protein,konsumsi energy dan kecernaan energi, dan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap konsumsi protein.Disimpulkan bahwa substitusi tepung jagung dengan batang pisang terfermentasi hingga level 15%meningkatkan konsumsi protein namun hingga level 15% meningkatkan konsumsi protein danmenurunkan konsumsi ransum, kecernaan protein, konsumsi energy dan kecernaan energy pada ternakbabi doruc fase grower.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of tamarind leaf powder supplementation on (Tamarindus indical L.)supplementation in the basal ration on the increase in linear body size and prediction of body weight of pigs.Twelve landrace castration male pigs aged 3-4 months with initial body weight of 35.5-64 kg (CV=23.65%)were used as research animals. The design used was a randomized block design with 4 treatments and 3replications. The treatments tested were T0: basal ration (control), T1: basal ration (BR) + 2.5% tamarind meal(TM), T2: BR + 5% TM, T3: BR + 7.5% TM. The variables measured were body length, schest circumference,height, predicted body weight. The results of the analysis showed that the treatment had no significant effect(P>0.05) on body length, chest circumference, height, prediction of body weight. It can be concluded that thesupplementation of tamarind leaf powder in the basal ration up to 7.5% has not had an effect on body length,chest circumference, height and prediction of body weight. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh suplementasi tepung daun asam (Tamarindus indical L.) dalamransum basal terhadap pertambahan ukuran linear tubuh dan prediksi bobot badan ternak babi. Ternak babijantan kastrasi peranakan landrace sebanyak 12 ekor berumur 3-4 bulan dengan berat badan awal 35,5-64 kg(KV=23,65%) digunakan sebagai ternak penelitian. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acakkelompok dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diuji adalah R0: ransum basal (kontrol), R1:ransum basal (RB) + 2,5% tepung daun asam (TDA), R2: RB + 5% TDA, R3: RB + 7,5% TDA. Variabel yangdiukur adalah panjang badan, lingkar dada, tinggi badan, prediksi bobot badan. Hasil analisis menunjukkanbahwa perlakuan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap panjang badan, lingkar dada, tinggi badan, prediksibobot badan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa suplementasi tepung daun asam dalam ransum basal hingga 7,5% belummemberikan pengaruh terhadap panjang badan, lingkar dada, tinggi badan dan prediksi bobot badan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding basil leaf extract (BLE) in Tris-eggyolk diluent (T-EY) on semen quality of landrace pig during storage. The semen used comes from landracepig collected using the massage method. Good quality semen with motility 70%, concentration 150×106and abnormality 20% were diluted in T-EY diluent with the addition of BLE for treatment. The treatmentwas designed with CRD with the following treatment; P0 : T-EY + 0% BLE; P1 : T-EY + 1.5% BLE; P2 : T-EY + 3% BLE and P3 : T-EY + 4.5%% BLE each treatment was repeted five times. After dilution, the spermis checked for motility, viability and abnormalities, and then stored in a cool box. Seed scoring is repeatedevery 8 hours until motility reaches 40%. The variabel tested were motility, viability, abnormality and spermsurvival during storage. The results showed that the addition of basil leaf extract to the Tris-egg yolk had nosignificant effect (P > 0,05) on sperm motility, viability and survival of landrace pig during storage. It can beconcluded that the addition of basil leaf extract to the Tris-egg yolk diluent did not produce a good seedpreservation response. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ekstrak daun kemangi (EDk) dalampengencer Tris kuning telur (T-KT) terhadap kualitas semen babi landrace selama penyimpanan. Semen yangdigunakan berasal dari babi landrace, yang ditampung dengan metode masagge. Semen yang berkualitas baikdengan motilitas 70% konsentrasi 150×106 dan abnormalitas 20% dienceran dalam pengencer T-KTdengan penambahan Edk sebagai perlakuan. Perlakuan dirancang menggunakan RAL dengan perlakuansebagai berikut; P0 : T-KT + 0% EDk; P1 : T-KT + 1,5% EDk; P2 : T-KT + 3% EDk dan P3 : T-KT + 4,5%EDk setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 5 kali. Setelah diencerkan semen dievaluasi terhadap motilitas,viabilitas dan abnormalitas, selanjutnya disimpan dalam cool box evaluasi semen dilakukan kembali setiap 8jam hingga motilitas mencapai 40%. Variabel yang di uji adalah motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas dan dayatahan hidup spermatozoa selama penyimpanan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrakdaun kemangi dalam pengencer Tris kuning telur berpengaruh tidak nyata (P > 0,05) terhadap penurunanmotilitas, viabilitas dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa babi landrace selama penyimpanan. Dapatdisimpulkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak daun kemangi dalam pengencer Tris kuning telur tidak memberikanrespon yang baik dalam preservasi semen.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Tegal Arum Village, Rimbo Bujang Sub District, Tebo Regency, from January 15 to February 15, 2020. The study aimed to identify the internal and external factors influencing the sweet potato business's development and formulate strategies for its growth in Tegal Arum Village. The survey method was employed, involving respondents from a defined population using a questionnaire for data collection. This case study focused on the Household Industry Farmer Women Group "Kasih Ibu" in Tegal Arum Village. The findings revealed that internal factors for the sweet potato home industry included strengths such as self-sustained capital, easy access to labor, and affordable initial investment. Weaknesses identified were irregular capital turnover, inconsistent educational levels, and annual bookkeeping practices. External factors consisted of opportunities like the availability of raw materials, minimal competition, and participation in exhibitions. However, threats included competition from similar industries, limited promotional activities, inadequate tools and machinery, and foreign competition in sweet potato rice. The recommended development strategy for the "Kasih Ibu" Household Industry Farmers Group involves increasing capital through investments or loans, expanding marketing areas, and providing continuous management training to business owners. Additional strategies include utilizing existing capital to boost production, expanding market reach to modern markets, maintaining product quality, enhancing advertising and promotion, optimizing technology and tools, and establishing partnerships with other traders.
