Abstract

Adolescents and young adults (AYA) with cancer frequently experience emotion dysregulation, yet existing reviews have focused mainly on symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or quality of life. This systematic literature review examined how mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) support emotion regulation in AYA with cancer. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, we searched PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO, and Google Scholar for studies published between 2015 and 30 June 2025 in English or Indonesian. Eligible studies involved AYA aged 10–39 years with a current or past cancer diagnosis, delivered an MBI, and reported emotion regulation or closely related outcomes. Two independent reviewers screened records, appraised methodological quality using design-appropriate tools (e.g., CASP/MMAT, RoB-2, JBI), and resolved discrepancies by consensus. Because of substantial heterogeneity in designs, interventions, and measures, data were synthesized using thematic meta-synthesis (qualitative) and narrative synthesis with vote-counting by direction of effect (quantitative). From 2,562 records, 10 studies met the inclusion criteria. Across designs, MBIs consistently enhanced emotional awareness, acceptance of difficult feelings, and self-regulatory coping; several trials also reported reductions in distress and improvements in self-compassion, although quantitative findings on emotion regulation difficulties were mixed. Limitations include small sample sizes, heterogeneous interventions and measures, and lack of protocol registration. Overall, MBIs show promising potential to strengthen emotion regulation in AYA with cancer, but larger, rigorously controlled trials with standardized emotion regulation outcomes and longer follow-up are needed.

Abstract

Instagram, as a social media platform, has been associated with increased levels of FOMO due to its emphasis on sharing personal experiences and achievements. Additionally, research shows that FOMO can lead to excessive engagement with Instagram, including constantly checking for updates, obsessively scrolling through feeds, and feeling anxious or irritable when unable to access the platform. This excessive use can lead to negative consequences such as decreased productivity, poor sleep quality, and difficulty forming and maintaining relationships. This study explores the mitigative role of education against the backdrop of increasing social media addiction and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among adolescents in Jakarta. Employing a mixed-methods approach with quantitative surveys among 211 adolescents aged 11-24, it assesses the correlation between FOMO and addiction levels, alongside evaluating digital literacy and mental health awareness programs. Results reveal a significant positive correlation between FOMO and social media addiction, with educational interventions showing promise in fostering responsible social media use. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating digital literacy into educational curricula to equip adolescents with the necessary skills to navigate the digital landscape healthily. Its novelty lies in highlighting educational strategies within a social context as effective tools for combating the psychological impacts of social media, offering a significant contribution to the discourse on digital well-being among the youth.

Abstract

The "Social-Tech" approach is gaining popularity in student Psychology research, as evidenced by the Olimpiade Penelitian Siswa Indonesia (OPSI). Beyond being a research theme, a growing number of students are also implementing the use of technology in their research, but without a solid theoretical understanding and structured guidance and mentoring. In this Letter to the Editor (LtE), the authors urge psychology practitioners and scientists, as well as journal managers, to move from access to action, as it is a shared responsibility to ensure that innovation thrives on a solid foundation of psychology theory, sound methodology, and strong research ethics.

Abstract

Well-being has become a critical concern in the VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) environment, as it directly affects organizational sustainability, individual adaptability, and overall productivity. Personal resources such as grit and external resources like social support play essential roles in sustaining well-being under these challenging conditions. This research aims to investigate the role of social support as a moderator in the relationship between grit and employee well-being in Indonesia. The proposed hypotheses are that grit positively affects well-being and that social support moderates this effect. The respondents consist of 507 employees, with 55 respondents used for validity and reliability testing. The sample was selected using purposive sampling techniques. Instruments used included the Indonesian Well-being Scale, Employee Grit Scale, and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Indonesian adaptation). Data analysis was conducted using moderation regression with Hayes Model 1 (Hayes, 2017). The results show that grit positively affects well-being, where employees with high grit experience better well-being (β = 0.42, p < 0.01). Social support has a significant direct effect on well-being (β = 0.35, p < 0.05), indicating that social support positively contributes to employee well-being. However, the moderating effect of social support on the influence of grit on well-being was not significant (β = 0.08, p > 0.05), suggesting that social support does not always strengthen the effect of grit on well-being. A unique finding of this research is social support ambivalence, particularly within Indonesia’s collectivist culture. On the one hand, social support enhances well-being, yet on the other hand, it creates excessive social responsibility (social pressure), which potentially reduces employee well-being. The implications of this study provide recommendations for organizations to design grit development strategies focusing on employee perseverance and to implement a balanced social support system to enhance employee performance and well-being.

Abstract

This literature review investigates the association between self-control and engagement in risky sexual behaviors among university students. Risky sexual practices such as engaging in unprotected sex, having multiple sexual partners, and initiating sexual activity at an early age have been shown to correlate with a range of adverse consequences, including increased vulnerability to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unintended pregnancies. Self-control, conceptualized as an individual's capacity to manage impulses, emotions, and behaviors in alignment with long-term objectives, serves as a crucial psychological buffer against such risk-taking behaviors. Drawing upon a synthesis of empirical findings and relevant theoretical models, this review highlights a recurring pattern: students with diminished self-control are more likely to partake in high-risk sexual behavior. Furthermore, the review considers the influence of situational and environmental variables such as peer dynamics, substance use, and digital media exposure as potential moderators. The evidence underscores the significance of cultivating self-regulation skills in promoting safer sexual behavior and advocates for the integration of self-control development within health education programs targeted at university populations. The method employed was a literature review, with a total of 10 articles included based on the screening process. The findings indicate that premarital sexual behavior among university students is influenced by various internal and external factors. Furthermore, self-control plays an important role in preventing students’ involvement in premarital sexual behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and synthesize empirical findings related to the relationship between the sense of meaning in life and the regulation of emotions through  the Systematic Literature Review (SLR)  approach. The background of this research is based on the importance of the meaning in life as one of the psychological resources that can strengthen the ability of individuals to manage emotions adaptively. Previous research has shown that individuals with high life meanings tend to use constructive emotion regulation strategies, such as cognitive reassessment, and less often use maladaptive strategies such as emotion suppression. The study examined nine scientific articles published between 2021 until 2025 using databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The results of the analysis show that the relationship between the two constructs is found in a variety of population contexts, such as college students, nurses, women with cancer, and individuals with postpartum depression, as well as across different cultural backgrounds. This study uses instruments such as Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), and DERS. The majority of research is quantitative with a correlational approach. In general, the results of this study show that  the sense of meaning of life contributes to the strengthening of emotion regulation ability, but further research is still needed with longitudinal, experimental, and cross-cultural approaches to deepen the understanding of the relationship between causal and contextual variables.
