Abstract

This research was conducted due to a decrease in taxpayer compliance as of July 2022. The number of registered taxpayers reached 4.52 million, but only 1.1 million reported tax returns (SPT), and only 732 thousand corporate taxpayers actually paid taxes. This indicates the level of awareness or compliance of corporate taxpayers is still low. This decrease in taxpayer compliance shows a lack of understanding of taxation. Therefore, this research intends to analyze the effectiveness of the Business Development Service (BDS) program from various factors, such as planning, implementation and development, as well as understanding of taxation on taxpayer compliance in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The method used in this research is qualitative by collecting data through interviews. The participants taken in this research were the managers of UMKM Batu Dairy Cattle Breeding and Cultivation and the KPP Pratama Batu Extension Team. The results of this research prove that planning, implementing, developing, and understanding taxation factors have an effective impact on increasing MSME taxpayer compliance, as shown in indicator SE-13/PJ/2018.Keywords: Business development service, planning factor, implementation factor, development factors, understanding of taxation.

Abstract

Bugis-Makassar ethnic group is known for its loyalty. There is a famous proverb, polo pang polo panni, which means the readiness of individuals to sacrifice anything to obey and be loyal to the commitments made even if they have to break their thighs and wings. Unfortunately, limited studies are exploring the antecedents of loyalty by using cultural and gender differences perspectives. This is surprising because if gender and ethnic background are genuinely exclusive, they would need a different selling, marketing, and loyalty strategy. This study aimed to fill the gap by empirically exploring the dimensions of service quality and perceived fairness on loyalty in the Sharia Bank of Indonesia. Through a questionnaire survey, 576 Bugis-Makassar were studied for this work. The questionnaire was employed based on the previous studies to establish the content validity of the study. Regression analysis is conducted to test the hypothesis. Our study shows that while service quality was found to be a significant predictor of loyalty in the Shariah bank, perceived fairness failed to affect loyalty. Despite their strong belief in Bugis-Makassar culture and philosophy, they tend to be more realistic when making buying decisions.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially those operating in the craft industry, often remain overlooked and receive minimal attention from researchers and policymakers even though they have an important role in increasing exports and employment in Indonesia. Nevertheless, craft MSMEs face significant challenges in maximizing innovation and enhancing competitiveness to improve financial performance. Hence, this study aims to investigate how innovation and firm competitiveness influence the financial performance of craft MSMEs. This study utilizes the SEM AMOS analysis tool with data from 403 business actors across three craft centers in West Java: Tasikmalaya, Majelengka, and Bandung. The findings reveal that product, process, and green innovation significantly influence and partially mediate the connection between entrepreneurial orientation and competitiveness. Competitiveness completely mediates the influence of product and green innovation on craft MSMEs' financial performance. Meanwhile, process innovation significantly impacts financial performance both directly and indirectly, emphasizing its importance in enhancing competitiveness and financial outcomes. Continuous improvement and innovation are crucial for boosting competitiveness and financial performance.
