Abstract

Background: The fast-paced growth of the global landscape has triggered significant transformations in various sectors, including education and the workforce. As the world enters the era of Industrial Revolution 5.0, which emphasizes sustainability and human-technology collaboration, it becomes critical for vocational high school (SMK) graduates to possess job skills that align with modern industry demands. However, a persistent skills gap remains between what vocational education delivers and what industries require. Methods: This study aims to analyse the employability level of vocational high school students in meeting industry demands during the Industrial Revolution 5.0. A quantitative approach was employed using an online survey distributed to 450 vocational students and 40 industry representatives across various sectors in Indonesia. The survey instrument focused on two main job skill dimensions: problem-solving practices and planning and organizing activities. Descriptive statistical analysis (frequency distributions, means, and standard deviations) was conducted, followed by inferential analysis using a t-test to compare students' self-assessments with industry evaluations of job readiness. Results: The findings revealed that vocational students' skills are currently at a moderate level and have not yet fully met industry expectations. A statistically significant gap was found between student perceptions and industry assessments, indicating a misalignment in readiness levels. Conclusion: These results highlight a critical employability gap that must be addressed to ensure vocational graduates are better prepared for the evolving workforce. Strengthened collaboration between vocational education institutions and industry is essential. Joint efforts should focus on establishing shared competency standards, enhancing industry-based training programs, and increasing industry participation in curriculum development to improve the alignment between education outcomes and labour market needs.

Abstract

In the 21st century, globalization and digital transformation have significantly altered human life patterns. Digital technology has become central to nearly all aspects of life, including the education sector in Indonesia. Technological skills and readiness to meet the demands of the job market have become increasingly critical. Vocational education, such as vocational high schools, aims to equip students with the competencies necessary to compete in the global market. However, challenges in enhancing the quality and relevance of education remain a significant issue. In fact, according to Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the unemployment rate for vocational high school graduates reached 9.6% in 2023, the highest among all education levels, underscoring the urgent need for innovative approaches in vocational learning. One proposed solution is the development of flipbook-based learning media integrated with Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance student engagement and skills in the digital era. This study employed ADDIE (Analyse, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The results indicate that the VOCAR-FLIP model is significantly effective in improving students' learning outcomes, particularly in terms of academic achievement and conceptual understanding. These findings are expected to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of more innovative and effective educational technologies for future learning.

Abstract

Poor air quality in urban areas significantly impacts public health, productivity, and quality of life. Various efforts have been made to address this issue, but many solutions still have limitations, such as low effectiveness, designs that lack portability, and the inability for real time monitoring. This research aims to develop a smart air purifier based on biomimetics and the Internet of Things (IoT) as an innovative solution to improve air quality in urban residences. The device prototype mimics the mechanism of leaf stomata, which naturally regulate the flow of air and gases, thus enabling more optimal clean air circulation. The system can monitor environmental parameters, namely temperature, humidity, air pressure, and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Index, in real time using BME680 and MQ-135 sensors, and can be controlled via Google Assistant. Testing was conducted in three locations in West Java Province, Indonesia: Cilame, Cibiru, and Jatinangor. Linear regression analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between environmental variables and air quality. The results showed that the device was able to significantly improve air quality in all locations, especially in Cilame, with air pressure being the dominant factor affecting IAQ (coefficient of determination 0.88). Different from previous research, this device offers advantages in the form of high portability, real time monitoring, and IoT integration, making it a potential sustainable solution for improving the air quality of urban residences.

Abstract

This literature study discusses the impact of academic stress on students' conflict resolution abilities at school. Academic stress, arising from pressure for high achievement, competition, and high expectations, has become the focus of increasing attention among educators, parents, and researchers. Recent studies show that academic stress can impact students' overall well-being, including their ability to manage and resolve conflict in the school environment. The results of literature studies show that students who experience academic stress tend to experience decreased communication, empathy, and emotional management skills, which are key components of effective conflict resolution abilities. Apart from that, academic stress can also affect students' ability to think critically and creatively in resolving conflicts. This can hinder the conflict resolution process, worsen relationships between students, and affect overall student learning outcomes. Thus, the conclusion of this literature study emphasizes the importance of recognizing the impact of academic stress on students' conflict resolution abilities at school. Holistic and sustained efforts are needed to reduce academic stress and strengthen students' social skills, including the development of communication skills, empathy, emotional management, and critical and creative thinking. This can create an inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environment at school, where students can grow and develop optimally.
