The problem of tidal inundation, especially in the District of West Tegal, is one of the problems that still often occurs. The area studied in this study is the area most frequently affected by tidal flooding in Tegal City. The areas affected by the tidal flood included Kraton Village, Tegalsari Village, and Muarareja Village. This research, among others, aims to determine the level of community vulnerability to tidal flooding. The data used include: land use data, population data, and primary data through questionnaires to the community. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. The population in this study were the heads of families from three villages affected by the tidal flood. The vulnerability sample includes the community in three villages affected by the tidal flood which was obtained from the sampling technique in the form of Simple Random Sampling. The results showed that the level of tidal flood vulnerability in the District of West Tegal was included in the medium class in the Kraton Village, and the high class in the Tegalsari Village and Muarareja Village.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) the level of vulnerability to landslides in Jatiyoso District, Karanganyar Regency in 2020, (2) the level of community resilience to landslides in Jatiyoso District, Karanganyar Regency in 2020, and (3) disaster mitigation directions carried out on landslide vulnerability in Jatiyoso District, Karanganyar Regency. The data analysis technique used in this study was descriptive qualitative. The results of this study are (1) The level of landslide susceptibility in the Jatiyoso District into three classes of landslide susceptibility: low, medium, and high. (2) There are two levels of community resilience to landslides, namely, a moderate level of resilience (55.56% from Jatiyoso District) and high resilience level (44.44% from Jatiyoso District). (3) The direction of disaster mitigation consists of zone II (moderate vulnerability), the need for restrictions on settlements, evaluation of the suitability of agricultural land, and the need for evaluation paths to refugee places, and zone III (high vulnerability) there needs to be a prohibition on development and this area should be specially used for conservation.

Abstract

Development in an area results in a change in land use and a reduction in green open spaces, especially public green open spaces. The proportion of Public Green Open Space is 20% of the total area. Public Green Open Spaces are utilized by the general public with various activities. The area studied in this study is Sukoharjo District, with the research objectives (1) to determine changes in land use in 2005 and 2019, (2) to determine the availability and adequacy of Public Open Space in Sukoharjo District, (3) to determine patterns of utilization of Public Open Space in Sukoharjo District. The research uses descriptive qualitative analysis with observation and documentation methods with overlay data analysis techniques and Iconos image analysis. The population in this research is Public Green Open Space with purposive sampling technique. The results of the study show that there have been changes in land use in 2005 and 2019 for each land use, the availability and adequacy of public green open space in Sukoharjo District is only 1.1% of the total area, so it is still insufficient to meet the stated public green open space needs. Community activities in Public Green Open Space are very diverse, and these activities can be patterned according to the activities of utilizing Public Green Open Space in Sukoharjo District, including elongated, spreading, and grouped patterns.

Abstract

High population growth resulted in increasingly massive development of settlements even in disaster-prone areas. Indonesia's challenge in building settlements is that most of Indonesia's population lives in disaster-prone areas. Disaster risk reduction, particularly for tsunamis, is important by controlling settlements in tsunami-prone areas. Settlement control is carried out by identifying settlements. The research aims to identify the density of residential land use blocks in tsunami-prone areas in Urban Pacitan. The research method was carried out by spatial analysis by overlaying density maps of residential land use blocks and tsunami hazard maps. For the formulation of tsunami settlement mitigation directives through regulations and existing conditions of the area. Mapping the density of residential land use blocks is obtained through the interpretation of Quickbird Imagery, then calculating the density of settlement blocks. The results of the study show that Urban Pacitan is dominated by low density residential blocks with an area of 989.7 Ha (81%). Each tsunami hazard in Urban Pacitan has three different density classifications of settlement blocks. There are 75% of the area in Urban Pacitan that is safe for settlements and 3% for conditional settlements, with special mitigation given to minimize losses due to the tsunami.

Abstract

Karanganyar Regency is one of the districts in Central Java that has natural disasters in the form of landslides caused by varying slopes, with Ngargoyoso District having a high level of landslide vulnerability. This research aims to determine the vulnerability to landslides in Ngargoyoso District. The method involves analyzing land units using scoring and weighting of six key parameters: slope, rock structure, soil type, fault location, rainfall, and land vegetation cover, which are then arranged as an overlay. The research results identified 94 land units divided into two classes of vulnerability to landslides: medium class and high class. The medium vulnerability class covers an area of 3,063.90 hectares or around 49.63% of the total area of Ngargoyoso District. In comparison, the high vulnerability class has an area of 3,063.90 hectares, or around 50.37% of the total area of the subdistrict. These results provide a clear picture of the vulnerability to landslides in the region, which can be used as a basis for disaster mitigation planning and better land management.

Abstract

The rise in sea levels due to ice melting in the Antarctic region increases the risk of tidal flooding, particularly in coastal areas with low-lying topography, such as the northern coast of Java. Kendal Regency is one of the regions vulnerable to this disaster. Therefore, this study aims to (1) analyze the level of coastal vulnerability to tidal flooding in Kendal Regency using the Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) in 2024 and (2) formulate mitigation strategies to reduce vulnerability to tidal flooding in Kendal Regency in 2024.The CVI assessment in this study is based on several key parameters, including geomorphology, shoreline changes, land elevation, beach slope, sea level rise, average tidal range, and wave height. The sampling technique was conducted using purposive sampling by selecting sub-districts in coastal Kendal that are affected by tidal flooding. Data collection methods included field observations, image interpretation, and documentation. The mitigation strategy formulation method focuses on parameters that significantly contribute to the vulnerability level in each coastal sub-district. The research findings indicate that (1) the coastal areas of Kendal Regency have varying levels of vulnerability, classified as low and moderate. The low vulnerability category is found in Kangkung, Cepiring, and Brangsong sub-districts, while the moderate category includes Rowosari, Patebon, Kendal, and Kaliwungu sub-districts. (2) The mitigation strategies for the coastal areas of Kendal Regency consist of structural and non-structural approaches. Structural mitigation includes beach reclamation, beach restoration, seawall construction, mangrove planting, polder and retention pond development, breakwater construction, and elevation of houses near the coastline. Meanwhile, non-structural mitigation involves public education and awareness programs (educational campaigns and emergency response training), capacity building for local authorities, and the implementation of an early warning system.
