Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country characterized by diverse cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and religious backgrounds, requiring an inclusive educational approach to promote tolerance and social harmony. This study aims to describe the implementation of multicultural education based on Acehnese local culture and to identify challenges in its application at SDQU Al-Muyassar. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving the school principal, teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using interactive qualitative data analysis, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that multicultural education has been implemented through daily school practices, teacher role modeling, and learning activities emphasizing values of tolerance, mutual respect, deliberation, and togetherness rooted in Acehnese local culture. However, the implementation remains largely implicit and has not been systematically integrated into formal lesson planning. Challenges include limited pedagogical strategies, the influence of globalization on students’ cultural orientation, and the underutilization of local cultural resources. This study concludes that Acehnese local culture–based multicultural education has strong potential to enhance students’ tolerance when supported by systematic planning and teacher competence.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of combining the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model with animated audiovisual media in improving fourth-grade students' learning outcomes at SDN 61 Banda Aceh. The background of this study is low student interest and learning outcomes due to monotonous conventional methods, with the average initial score (pretest) at 65, which is still below the KKM standard of 75. Using a one-group pretest-posttest design with 27 students in the even semester of 2025/2026, data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. The results showed a significant positive effect, with the average score increasing to 84.26. It was concluded that integrating animated media with the TGT model created an interactive, effective learning environment that improved students' cognitive understanding. Suggestions put forward include: for teachers, apply this strategy routinely in Civics and other subjects; for schools, provide multimedia facilities and teacher training; for future researchers, use a quasi-experimental design with a control group to strengthen validation.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of principal leadership and organizational culture on teacher performance in public high schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, where Islamic values are embedded within educational governance and daily school practices. Employing a qualitative multiple-case study design, data were collected from sixteen public high schools through semi-structured interviews with principals and teachers, direct observations, and document analysis. To enhance the validity and trustworthiness of the findings, methodological and source triangulation were applied by systematically comparing evidence across data sources and participant groups. The findings reveal that principal leadership significantly influences teacher performance, particularly when leadership practices are participative, instructional, and grounded in Islamic ethical principles such as musyawarah (consultative decision-making), amanah (trust), and collective responsibility. Organizational culture was found to mediate this relationship by fostering collaboration, professional commitment, and instructional innovation. Schools characterized by a strong collaborative culture and consistent integration of Islamic values demonstrated higher teacher motivation, discipline, and engagement than schools with more hierarchical organizational structures. This study contributes to contemporary educational leadership literature by providing empirical evidence from a Sharia-based public education context, demonstrating that Islamic values can function as ethical and motivational resources that strengthen leadership effectiveness and organizational culture. The findings offer practical implications for educational leaders and policymakers in Aceh by highlighting the importance of integrating faith-based values with participative leadership practices to enhance teacher performance and school effectiveness.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of students’ mathematical problem-solving skills due to less contextual geometry instruction. It aims to develop a geometry learning module based on an ethnomathematics approach using the context of the Ranup Lampuan dance to improve fourth-grade students’ problem-solving abilities at SDN 01 Percontohan Meulaboh. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design with a mixed-methods approach. The participants consisted of 48 students, divided into an experimental group (24 students) and a control group (24 students). Data were collected through expert validation, tests, observations, questionnaires, and interviews, and analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis, N-Gain, and paired sample t-test. The results show that the developed module is valid, with ratings ranging from good to very good in terms of content, media, language, and cultural aspects, and is practical for classroom use. The module also increases students’ learning interest and facilitates understanding of geometric concepts through connections with local culture. Quantitatively, the average pretest score improved from 60.2 to 79.6 in the posttest, with an N-Gain value of 0.50 (moderate category). The paired sample t-test indicates a significant difference (p < 0.05). Therefore, the module is effective in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low moral understanding of elementary school students, marked by cases of bullying and student fights. This condition is worsened by conventional learning methods and minimal use of technology-based media, so moral values in Civic Education (PKN) are not fully understood. This study aims to: (1) describe the development process of animated video learning media on norms in life, and (2) determine its effectiveness in improving moral understanding of fifth-grade students at SDN Kuta Pasie. This research uses Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), involving 21 fifth-grade students as a saturated sample. The animated video was developed using Canva and validated by material and media experts. Results showed combined validity of 95.415% (Very Valid), practicality of 90% (Very Practical), and significant learning improvement with average scores increasing from 47.62 (pretest) to 82.38 (posttest), with 90.47% class completion rate. It is concluded that the animated video learning media is feasible, practical, and effective in improving students' moral understanding of norms in life in Civics learning at class V SDN Kuta Pasie.
