Abstract

AbstrakThe jurisdiction of Polrestabes Surabaya was ranked in the top 3 contributors to the number of traffic accidents of 39 Polres in the East Java Regional Police in 2017. KB Khadijah Kindergarten is in the middle of Surabaya and an area with heavy traffic, so there is a high risk of traffic accidents, but the school has never received material and information about first aid in an accident so that if there is an accident the teacher and staf are not ready and unable to provide help properly. The purpose of this community service is to provide knowledge and abilities to teachers, staff, and parents to be able to do first aid in an accident. The method used in this empowerment is lectures and demonstrations about first aid in accidents which include Basic Life Support (BLS), splinting & Bandaging, and ambulation/transportation and also using leaflet media. As many as 47 people consisting of teachers, staf and parents participated in this activity and also carried out an evaluation of knowledge and self efficacythrough pre-test and post-test. The results achieved through this activity is that there is an increase in knowledge and self-efficacy in conducting first aid in an accident. This is because the lecture, simulation, and also leaflet methods can provide a technically clear description so that participants know and can practice relief assistance in accidents. Subsequent community service activities are expected to achieve wider goals and diverse communities.

Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) is the ongoing process of facilitating knowledge, skill and ability necessary for diabetes self care. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of DSME principles approach toward the dietary obedience behavior that consists of knowledge, attitude, and practice aspects in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Puskesmas Kebonsari Surabaya. Methods: A quasy experimental design was used in this study with 24 people as the sample which taken by using purposive sampling and divided into two groups (treatment and control group). A structured questionnaire and daily meal note for seven days were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed by using Wilcoxon signed rank test and Mann Whitney U test with significant level α≤0.05. Result: The results showed that there was an influence of DSME principles approach after being applied to the treatment group and control group toward the dietary knowledge with the value of p=0.004 and p=0.083 respectively, the attitude of dietary obedience with p=0.025 and p=0.083 and the dietary obedience practice with p=0.002 and p=0.564.Discussion: The study showed that DSME approach had a significant influence toward the dietary obedience behavior in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients. DSME principles approach used learning based on patient empowerment and behavior strategies. Ongoing support also contributed in maintaining progress achieved so that resulting dietary obedience behavior in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients. Larger respondents, more proper instruments and longer duration of study are needed to get a better results of the study concerning diabetic patient’s obedience in the future.

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus’s with high blood glucose level is at a risk to get ulcus diabeticum because do not do the foot care. The aimed of this research was to examine effectivity of foot care education by guidance motion picture and leaflet media in Diabetes mellitus type 2’s behavior in Puskesmas Loceret. Methods: This research was using quasy-experiment with pretest-posttest control group design. The population were Diabetes mellitus type 2’s at Puskesmas Loceret working area. This research used 3 group, they were treatment group (guidance motion picture+leaflet), positive control group 1 (guidance motion picture), and positive control group 2 (leaflet), each group consisted of 10 respondents taken according to purposive sampling from January-March 2014. Data were collected using questionnaire and observation and then analyzed using Wilcoxon signed rank test and Kruskal-Wallis test with level of significance <0.05.Result: Results showed that increasing knowledge is significant for treatment group (p=0.005), the positive control group 1 (p=0.011), the positive control group 2 (p=0.097). Analysis of attitude for all group (p=0.005). Analysis of action for treatment group (p=0.005), positive control group 1 (p=0.006), the positive control group 2 (p=0.011). There are different effectivity between guidance motion picture+leaflet combination, guidance motion picture, and leaflet in increasing knowledge (p=0.047), attitude (0.022), and action (p=0.037).Discussion: It can be concluded that education with guidance motion picture+leaflet combination, guidance motion picture, and leaflet media influence non ulcus foot care behavior, but for leaflet, it does not influence their knowledge. So, nurses can use one of that media to get effective influence when giving health education to Diabetes mellitus type 2’s. Further research should evaluate other factors of knowledge, attitude, and action also do direct observation of action to gain more accurate data.

Abstract

Optimizing health services during the pandemic is something that hospitals must do in order to keep improving service quality. This community service aims to educate nurses on how to use digital technology-based nursing services in the pandemic. Health education is provided through webinars, as a method of implementing this community service program. The majority of webinar participants (60%) had sufficient knowledge based on the results of the pretest. Following the presentation of the material, it can be concluded that there has been an increase in knowledge, with 182 participants (90%) having excellent knowledge. Nursing services are benefiting from digital innovation not only in terms of workforce management, but also in terms of changing the way care is delivered. Nurses are crucial in the adoption of digital tools and information technology to improve patient care. This is due to the fact that the quality of digital care delivery has risen to the forefront of healthcare and is being scrutinized more than ever before.
