Abstract

Introduction: On the banks of the Kalimas River, Indonesia, drowning cases often occur because many people fish and swim in the river, especially when the munggut phenomenon occurs (fish die due to toxic factory waste being thrown into the river), but when drowning cases occur there are actually many people. feel afraid and confused about providing assistance to drowning victims. Objective of this research is to analyze what factors are related to self-efficacy in helping drowning victims based on Albert Bandura's Theory of Self-Efficacy.   Methods: This study was a correlational descriptive research with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were all residents of the Kalimas Riverbanks, Gresik Regency. This research involved 146 respondents who live on the river banks in Gading Village, Wates Village, and Cangki Village using a cluster sampling technique. This research variable refers to Theory of Self-Efficacy including enactive mastery, vicariously experience, verbal persuasion, physiological and emotional state and self-efficacy. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using a logistic regression test with a significance level of ≤ 0.05.   Results: The results of statistical tests show a significant correlation between enactive mastery (p=0.001), vicarious experience (p=0.004), and verbal persuasion (p=0.000) with self-efficacy. In contrast, physiological and emotional state did not show a significant correlation with self-efficacy.   Conclusion: The higher the level of enactive mastery, vicarious experience, and verbal persuasion, the better the self-efficacy in helping drowning victims. This provides input for health workers and local government, as well as for further research, in increasing self-efficacy and the ability of residents to help drowning victims.

Abstract

Tuberculosis treatment is carried out daily for a long time, causing boredom with taking medication and reducing medication adherence. It results in drug resistance and more prolonged treatment. In response to the situation, this study developed an android-based application called the education, calendar, and medication alarm (EKA) app to improve medication adherence and self-efficacy of tuberculosis patients. Research and development with four steps: evaluation of health education, medication adherence, and self-efficacy; application development; feasibility test; and application socialization. The sample in this study was 38 respondents. This study also uses morisky medication adherence scale (MMAS-8), self-efficacy, and system usability scale (SUS) questionnaires and evaluation sheets to collect the data. Data analysis was done descriptively. The outcomes of the application feasibility test showed that the EKA application received an acceptable value of 81.5 based on acceptance, B value (81.5) based on value scale, an excellent value (81.5) based on adjective rating, and good score (81.5) based on percentile. Socialization on the use of the application goes well, and the patient gets a good understanding and can use the EKA application easily. It proves that the android-based EKA application tested using the SUS questionnaire can be used as a medium for health education and supports medication adherence and self-efficacy.

Abstract

Background: Malnutrition is still common among the elderly, and meal provision has an important role in combating this issue. One of the meal provision programs is done by providing adequate quantity and quality of intake in nursing homes. Having less food waste can reflect to which extent intake and quality standards are applied in institutional food services. Objectives: This study aims to examine food waste as a factor in evaluating the adequacy of food intake and quality control in the food service management of nursing institutions. Methods: This study was conducted on 65 elderly at Surabaya Nursing Homes in 2023. Observations on the menu they had were carried out to determine the adequacy of their food intake. The Visual Comstock 7x hours method was used to assess the adequacy of food intake. Then, the food waste limit of 20% became a quality control in food service management. Results: The adequacy of nutritional intakes in the studied Surabaya nursing homes in terms of energy, carbohydrates, fiber, sodium, and potassium were 77.26%, 66.24%, 37.14%, 165.36%, and 27.17% of recommended daily allowance, respectively. This means that both the adequacy of the intake and the type of menu the elderly consumed are still below the standards. Food waste of more than 20% was identified from menus made of papaya, tongkol rica (spicy mackerel tuna), ote-ote (vegetable fritter), rice, green bean compote, sour vegetable soup, skipjack tuna balado (chili pepper skipjack tuna), and melon. Conclusions: The adequacy of food intake that the elderly consumed did not meet daily needs and recommendations. Apart from that, some menus still had >20% leftovers. The menu options need to be diversified to reach the recommended nutritional intake.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) and Six-Minute Walking Test (6MWT) in the rehabilitation management of patients after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) surgery. Methods included a systematic review of 15 relevant studies, with data analysed using an integrative approach. Results showed that CPET provides in-depth information on cardiorespiratory responses during exercise, while 6MWT provides an evaluation of the patient's functional capacity. Both tests play an important role in personalised rehabilitation planning to improve patients' exercise capacity and quality of life. The conclusion of this review confirms the importance of the combined use of CPET and 6MWT to maximise rehabilitation outcomes of post-CABG patients. Abstract

This systematic review evaluates the effectiveness of telehealth interventions in managing pain among postoperative orthopedic surgery patients. The introduction highlights the transformative potential of digital health technologies, such as telemedicine and mobile health applications, in improving access, quality, and efficiency of healthcare, particularly for pain management and patient adherence. The methods section outlines a structured literature search across Scopus, PubMed, and Proquest databases, adhering to PRISMA guidelines, with inclusion criteria focusing on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental studies involving adult orthopedic patients aged 18–60 years. Ten studies met the criteria, demonstrating varied telehealth approaches, including mobile apps, video consultations, and remote monitoring. Results indicate significant pain reduction and improved clinical outcomes in telehealth groups compared to standard care, with enhanced patient adherence, functional recovery, and reduced opioid use. However, variability in intervention duration and pain measurement tools underscores the need for standardization. The conclusion affirms telehealth as a valuable tool for postoperative pain management, emphasizing its role in education, monitoring, and psychosocial support. Future research should explore combined interventions and economic impacts to optimize implementation.
