Abstract

Background: LBW is a condition where babies are born with a body weight of less than 2500 gr. In 2020, as many as 19.8 million babies (14.7%) of all babies born in the world experienced low birthweight. Based on data from the Maternal and Child Health Profile, the prevalence of LBW in Indonesia from 2020 to 2022 has increased. This study aims to know the determinants of LBW events with IFLS data. Methods: The type of research used was quantitative observational analytic using a cross sectional design, with the data source used was IFLS 5 in 2014. Results: The results showed that after controlling for other variables, the variables associated with LBW events were the number of ANC visits (p = 0.024), the number of children (p = 0.004), hypertension (p = 0.046), CED (p=0.003), pregnancy complications (p=0.003), and education (p=<0.001). Conclusions: Mothers who have visited ANC <6 times, have a >2 child, are diagnosed with hypertension by a doctor, have CED, experience pregnancy complications, and take compulsory education <12 years have a greater chance of giving birth to a LBW baby. The advice for the education office is to ensure that every woman has been educated for at least 12 years to prevent low birth weight.

Abstract

Understanding differential comorbidity patterns for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) across healthcare levels is crucial for targeted prevention strategies in tiered systems. In this cross-sectional study, we analyzed 2023 BPJS Kesehatan claims data to examine ICD-10-coded comorbidities associated with T2DM between basic primary care facilities (FKTP) and advanced referral care facilities (FKRTL), using weighted and unweighted odds ratios. Distinct patterns emerged reflecting both appropriate care distribution and coding artifacts. FKRTL showed the highest associations with specialized diagnostic: abnormal glucose tolerance (R73, OR: 41.089), unspecified diabetes (E12, OR: 53.023), and insulin-dependent diabetes (E10, OR: 33.807). FKTP demonstrated unexpected associations with conditions beyond its diagnostic capability, notably pulmonary embolism (I26; OR: 112.912), absent in FKRTL’s top 20, suggesting follow-up coding rather than primary diagnosis. Common diabetic complications appeared in both settings: retinopathy (FKTP: OR 44.145 vs FKRTL: OR 25.980) and polyneuropathy (FKTP: OR 25.807 vs FKRTL: OR 26.482), though FKTP lacks specialized diagnostic equipment. Findings reveal appropriate healthcare distribution where FKRTL handles specialized care, while complex diagnostic codes in FKTP likely reflect monitoring of conditions initially diagnosed at referral facilities. This highlights critical interpretation challenges in administrative claims data across tiered healthcare systems managing Indonesia’s millions of T2DM cases.

Abstract

Background: Exercise is widely recognized as a supplementary or alternative treatment for depression, yet comprehensive scientific mapping in this area remains limited. This study aimed to explore the current research landscape, key findings, and future trends related to exercise and depression across all age groups. Methods: We used the Web of Science database to collect articles on exercise and depression from 2002 to 2022. Eligible data were extracted and analyzed using R Studio with the Bibliometrix package to generate descriptive summaries, annual trends, country and institution outputs, journal impact, and research hotspots. Results: The majority of publications on the subject of exercise and depression originate from the United States and China, with 258 and 161 publications, respectively. Notably, Chongqing Medical University and Harvard University stand out as leading institutions in this field, each contributing 48 publications. The Journal of Affective Disorders, recognized for its high impact and Q1 status, serves as a foundational resource in the exploration of exercise and depression. The thematic map and topic trend analysis highlight aerobic exercise and tai chi as promising exercises, potentially targeting the hippocampus and BDNF in the context of depression. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that PHQ-9 and HADS are frequently utilized measurements in ongoing research endeavors. Conclusion: This study provides a summary of the field about exercise and depression, highlighting emerging trends, sources, prominent institutions, and key topics using bibliometric analysis and network visualization. Our findings offer valuable insights that can guide future research directions and inform clinical practice.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Surgery is at risk of developing surgical wound infections (ILOs) that can prolong recovery and reduce the patient's quality of life. Wound care according to standards and education to patients and families are essential to prevent complications. The role of health workers as educators and optimal family support is key in accelerating postoperative healing. This study aims to analyze global and domestic literature bibliometrically to identify trends in publications, collaborations, research themes, and knowledge gaps, especially in Indonesia.  Materials and methods: This research method uses a bibliometric approach by looking at data retrospectively. Data was collected from Scopus, PubMed, Garuda Portal, and Google Scholar (2019–2024), analyzed with VOSviewer and Biblioshiny. Results: The results of the 796 articles showed an increase in publications and strong collaboration between institutions in the US, China, and the UK. Four main clusters emerged: education and self-management, wound care technology, clinical outcomes and complication prevention, and the role of patient introduction. In Indonesia, research is still predominantly descriptive, with minimal technological exploration and a burden of parenting Conclusions: global research is moving towards technology and patient empowerment, while Indonesia lags behind in innovation and sustainability of interventions. The study recommends the development of culturally adaptive blended education models, evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of telemedicine, and measurement of long-term outcomes for patients and patient providers

Abstract

Introduction: It is estimated that two-thirds of hypertension cases occur in Low-Middle Income Countries (LMICs), and 46% of individuals with hypertension are unaware of their condition. Early detection and effective management of hypertension are crucial for reducing its burden. Aims: This study aims to determine the progression time, the status of hypertension, and the factors that influence it. Methods: This study employed a longitudinal design. Secondary data was collected by 5 Poksila at the Kedungmundu Public Health Center in Semarang. This data was taken from January 2022 to August 2023 as 20 periods and analyzed using survival analysis. Results: A total of 332 participants were included in the analysis. Most of the participants were women (88.66%),  aged 45-59 years old (47.29%), obese (40.6%), and at risk due to waist circumference (77.01%). As many as 66.27% of participants experienced an increase in hypertension status from the previous month. The transition from normal blood pressure to pre-hypertension was the most significant, occurring in 61.82% of participants. The survival rate was 50% in the elderly male group (7.31±4.82 months) and in the female group (5.75±4.25 months). Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that sex was associated with the progression of hypertension (HR 95% CI = 1.67 (1.03-2.69), p=0.03). Conclusion: Elderly males had a longer survival rate compared to females. Females are at higher risk of progression of hypertension. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to manage hypertension effectively based on sex and other risk factors. Routine monitoring for the elderly is essential as a primary preventive measure for hypertension.

Abstract

Introduction: Health education for intellectually disabled individuals can be provided, particularly about reproduction and sexuality. While their IQ grows more slowly, their reproductive organs reach maturity at a normal pace. This health education is very important to prevent unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases (including HIV/AIDS), and cervical cancer. According to women National Community 2022, in the 10-year recording of Violence Against Women cases—from 2012 to 2021—2021 was recorded as the highest number of cases of Gender-Based Violence, where the data rose by 50% to 338,496 cases compared with 2020 as many as 215,694 cases. The National Commission on Violence Against Women has also documented cases of sexual violence against women with disabilities every year since 2017. Aim: The research was conducted to find out the understanding of reproductive health in intellectually disabled adolescents in the Temanggung Regency. Method: Data were collected from 10 informants who were selected using a qualitative case study design and purposive sampling. Result: It was established that out of the 6 main informants who were interviewed, 4 did not have any understanding about RH, while the remaining 2 had some knowledge to a minimum level. Despite the fact that adolescents have contributed positively toward attitude about reproductive health, they show very poor understanding about its implications. Conclusion: Knowledge was influenced by factors such as media exposure, while communication and motivation on reproductive health among adolescents were channeled by the roles of health workers, family, and peers.
