Abstract

Background: LBW is a condition where babies are born with a body weight of less than 2500 gr. In 2020, as many as 19.8 million babies (14.7%) of all babies born in the world experienced low birthweight. Based on data from the Maternal and Child Health Profile, the prevalence of LBW in Indonesia from 2020 to 2022 has increased. This study aims to know the determinants of LBW events with IFLS data. Methods: The type of research used was quantitative observational analytic using a cross sectional design, with the data source used was IFLS 5 in 2014. Results: The results showed that after controlling for other variables, the variables associated with LBW events were the number of ANC visits (p = 0.024), the number of children (p = 0.004), hypertension (p = 0.046), CED (p=0.003), pregnancy complications (p=0.003), and education (p=<0.001). Conclusions: Mothers who have visited ANC <6 times, have a >2 child, are diagnosed with hypertension by a doctor, have CED, experience pregnancy complications, and take compulsory education <12 years have a greater chance of giving birth to a LBW baby. The advice for the education office is to ensure that every woman has been educated for at least 12 years to prevent low birth weight.

Abstract

LBW is used as a parameter to assess the health status of the population widely. More than 20 million of the world's total births per year are LBW babies (15-20%). Indonesia itself has 6.1% of LBW cases by 2023, which is short of the global target. Therefore, this research aims to identify the maternal factors associated to LBW incidence in Indonesia, which will be used to develop evidence-based health policies. This research design used a cross-sectional design and data obtained from the Indonesia Health Survey (IHS) 2023, with 11.769 samples. Data were analyzed with descriptive analysis and a chi-square test. The results from this study showed that there was an association between CED (p-value 0,0001 < 0,05), hypertension (p-value 0,0001 < 0,05), and parity (p-value 0,002 < 0,05). On the other hand, variables that were not significantly associated with LBW because the p-value was more than 0.05 were maternal age, maternal education, and iron intake. This means that early detection of the pregnant woman's condition is necessary to prevent LBW.

Abstract

Understanding differential comorbidity patterns for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) across healthcare levels is crucial for targeted prevention strategies in tiered systems. In this cross-sectional study, we analyzed 2023 BPJS Kesehatan claims data to examine ICD-10-coded comorbidities associated with T2DM between basic primary care facilities (FKTP) and advanced referral care facilities (FKRTL), using weighted and unweighted odds ratios. Distinct patterns emerged reflecting both appropriate care distribution and coding artifacts. FKRTL showed the highest associations with specialized diagnostic: abnormal glucose tolerance (R73, OR: 41.089), unspecified diabetes (E12, OR: 53.023), and insulin-dependent diabetes (E10, OR: 33.807). FKTP demonstrated unexpected associations with conditions beyond its diagnostic capability, notably pulmonary embolism (I26; OR: 112.912), absent in FKRTL’s top 20, suggesting follow-up coding rather than primary diagnosis. Common diabetic complications appeared in both settings: retinopathy (FKTP: OR 44.145 vs FKRTL: OR 25.980) and polyneuropathy (FKTP: OR 25.807 vs FKRTL: OR 26.482), though FKTP lacks specialized diagnostic equipment. Findings reveal appropriate healthcare distribution where FKRTL handles specialized care, while complex diagnostic codes in FKTP likely reflect monitoring of conditions initially diagnosed at referral facilities. This highlights critical interpretation challenges in administrative claims data across tiered healthcare systems managing Indonesia’s millions of T2DM cases.

Abstract

Background: Exercise is widely recognized as a supplementary or alternative treatment for depression, yet comprehensive scientific mapping in this area remains limited. This study aimed to explore the current research landscape, key findings, and future trends related to exercise and depression across all age groups. Methods: We used the Web of Science database to collect articles on exercise and depression from 2002 to 2022. Eligible data were extracted and analyzed using R Studio with the Bibliometrix package to generate descriptive summaries, annual trends, country and institution outputs, journal impact, and research hotspots. Results: The majority of publications on the subject of exercise and depression originate from the United States and China, with 258 and 161 publications, respectively. Notably, Chongqing Medical University and Harvard University stand out as leading institutions in this field, each contributing 48 publications. The Journal of Affective Disorders, recognized for its high impact and Q1 status, serves as a foundational resource in the exploration of exercise and depression. The thematic map and topic trend analysis highlight aerobic exercise and tai chi as promising exercises, potentially targeting the hippocampus and BDNF in the context of depression. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that PHQ-9 and HADS are frequently utilized measurements in ongoing research endeavors. Conclusion: This study provides a summary of the field about exercise and depression, highlighting emerging trends, sources, prominent institutions, and key topics using bibliometric analysis and network visualization. Our findings offer valuable insights that can guide future research directions and inform clinical practice.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Surgery is at risk of developing surgical wound infections (ILOs) that can prolong recovery and reduce the patient's quality of life. Wound care according to standards and education to patients and families are essential to prevent complications. The role of health workers as educators and optimal family support is key in accelerating postoperative healing. This study aims to analyze global and domestic literature bibliometrically to identify trends in publications, collaborations, research themes, and knowledge gaps, especially in Indonesia.  Materials and methods: This research method uses a bibliometric approach by looking at data retrospectively. Data was collected from Scopus, PubMed, Garuda Portal, and Google Scholar (2019–2024), analyzed with VOSviewer and Biblioshiny. Results: The results of the 796 articles showed an increase in publications and strong collaboration between institutions in the US, China, and the UK. Four main clusters emerged: education and self-management, wound care technology, clinical outcomes and complication prevention, and the role of patient introduction. In Indonesia, research is still predominantly descriptive, with minimal technological exploration and a burden of parenting Conclusions: global research is moving towards technology and patient empowerment, while Indonesia lags behind in innovation and sustainability of interventions. The study recommends the development of culturally adaptive blended education models, evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of telemedicine, and measurement of long-term outcomes for patients and patient providers
