Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in handling child marriage issues in Indonesia for the period 2016 - 2018. Child marriage is a form of violation of children's rights. Marriage before the age of 18 can have negative impacts, especially for girls, such as interrupting education, being vulnerable to experiencing reproductive problems, living in poverty and experiencing domestic violence. As an international organization whose mission is to protect children's rights, UNICEF plays a role in overcoming the problem of child marriage in Indonesia. This study uses a pluralism perspective and international organization theory. The research method used is a qualitative research methods with library research techniques, namely utilizing secondary data obtained through various literature such as books, journals, newspapers, annual reports of several related agencies, websites, or other materials that support research. The results of this study shows that in dealing with the problem of child marriage, UNICEF carries out various programs in collaboration with the government and non-governmental organizations, disseminating information through reports and data releases, and education through various media. Abstract

Children are the next generation of the nation whose every right and growth and development must be taken into account by the family and even the state. Child marriage is a phenomenon that is detrimental to children's growth and development and must be addressed immediately. As an initiative to prevent child marriage, the BERANI (Better Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for All in Indonesia) Program was formed by UNICEF, UNFPA, Indonesian Government and Canadian Government. Through a qualitative approach using the literature study method, data obtained through literature, reports and official documents related to the BERANI Program and child marriage issue in Indonesia would be analyzed to show implementation and the role of the BERANI Program in preventing the increase in child marriage in South Sulawesi. The findings of this research showed that BERANI Program had successfully implemented its program to prevent child marriage in South Sulawesi and has had an impact on efforts to prevent child marriage. Through results that if found from research, it is hoped that it could provide insight into the implementation of the BERANI program in dealing with child marriage in South Sulawesi in 2018-2023. Abstract

Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by a novel coronavirus named SARS-CoV-2. It was first identified in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, in December 2019. The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the continuity of operations for multinational corporations, particularly those heavily reliant on global supply chains and manufacturing in China. This study examines the case of Apple Inc., where the pandemic has profoundly affected its supply chain, which depends largely on manufacturing hubs in China, especially key partner factories such as Foxconn and Pegatron. Lockdown policies and mobility restrictions led to decreased production capacity, component shortages, shipment delays, and disruptions in the distribution of products to global markets. The health-related restrictions compelled Apple to adapt its operations by strengthening supplier diversification and expanding its manufacturing base to other countries to mitigate the risks of production concentration in a single location. Dunning’s eclectic theory provides a crucial framework for understanding Apple Inc.’s supply chain management strategy during the pandemic. The theory comprises three main components. First, ownership advantage, which refers to the proprietary assets a firm possesses, such as technology, brand, and innovation, that confer unique competitive advantages. Second, location advantage, which encompasses benefits derived from the production site, including robust infrastructure, low-cost skilled labor, and reduced operational expenses. Third, internalization advantage, which involves the firm's benefits from directly managing production processes rather than outsourcing, thereby maintaining greater control and efficiency. This theory elucidates how Apple systematically and structurally managed to sustain its operations and innovate amid a global crisis. Keywords: Apple Inc, Economy, Covid-19 Pandemic, Supply Chain.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in addressing reproductive health issues among adolescent girls in Indonesia, including risks of early pregnancy, limited access to health services, gender-based violence, and inadequate socialization. Using qualitative descriptive methods and secondary data collection through literature review of annual reports, documents, and official publications from WHO, UNFPA, the Indonesian Ministry of Health, and academic articles related to the BERANI Program (2018-2023), the research applies Clive Archer's theory of International Organizations' Roles. The research findings indicate that UNFPA Indonesia has contributed to the improvement of adolescent reproductive health indicators, such as the decline in child marriage rates from 11.2% in 2018 to approximately 10% in 2022, as well as increased participation of adolescent girls in education and health. The analysis results explain that UNFPA Indonesia serves as an effective instrument providing technical and financial resources, with the BERANI Program advocating for child marriage policies, strengthening sexuality education in schools, and supporting the establishment of youth-friendly clinics (UNALA). This study recommends strengthening cross-sector collaborations to expand the program's impact and reduce challenges in reproductive health interventions. Abstract

The right to health can be fulfilled by eliminating the threat of stunting, which is primarily influenced by two major variables, poverty and the low level of education among women aged over 15. This paper analyzes the relationship between poverty, the duration of women’s education, and the prevalence of stunting in Riau Province. Women’s formal education has proven to play a critical role in reducing stunting rates by enhancing knowledge about nutrition and health. Poverty which entraps families becomes the main barrier to accessing education. A qualitative research method was employed, with data gathered through interviews, literature reviews, journals, and relevant media sources. The results indicate that basic literacy and numeracy skills acquired by women in school increase their awareness and capacity to prevent and manage stunting, thereby positively impacting the future of their children.

Abstract

Nigeria possesses tropical forests that have undergone extensive deforestation, particularly in the Cross River region. The palm oil industry has displaced forests that hold vital significance for the global environment. Efforts to address the resulting impacts have prompted the involvement of the Rainforest Resource and Development Centre (RRDC) to mitigate the issue. The initiatives undertaken by RRDC in combating forest deforestation in Cross River are discussed in detail in this study. This research employs a qualitative approach based on secondary data, using document analysis from books, national and international journals, official reports of international institutions, and news articles. The analysis of the NGO’s role refers to John McCormick’s theoretical perspective. The findings reveal that RRDC’s strategies include collaborating with elected officials, bureaucrats, and corporate employees; conducting campaigns and organizing public protests; enhancing media engagement and environmental awareness; and pursuing litigation as well as monitoring the enforcement of environmental laws. Overall, this study highlights the significant role of local NGOs in promoting environmental justice and governance, particularly in efforts to reduce corporate-driven deforestation in developing countries such as Nigeria. Abstract

This study analyzes South Korea's implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) in handling cases of digital sexual exploitation, with a focus on the Nth Room case study. South Korea ratified CEDAW in 1984 and has adopted a number of regulations such as the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes and cybercrime policies. However, the findings of this study indicate a gap between normative commitments and their implementation. The main obstacles are weak law enforcement, regulatory delays in responding to developments in digital technology, and institutional bias and patriarchal culture that still influence the treatment of victims. This research was conducted through document analysis, CEDAW Committee reports, legislation, and the Nth Room case study. It was found that the effectiveness of South Korea's policies is partial, in that there has been progress in terms of legislation and public awareness, but this has not been accompanied by the technical capacity building, inter-agency coordination, and social transformation required by CEDAW. This study result emphasizes the need to strengthen the digital legal framework, increase the accountability of technology platforms, empower civil society to realize comprehensive protection of women's rights and manifest the CEDAW’s principals within the CEDAW Committees recommendation for South Korea. Keywords: CEDAW, digital sexual exploitation, South Korea, Nth Room, gender policy.
