Abstract

Games designed for children have the potential to serve as educational tools, incorporating learning components that promote engagement and facilitate the child's cognitive and developmental progress, tailored to their specific age group. The significance of Early Childhood Cognitive Abilities is in their association with everyday tasks and functions. The promotion of cognitive development in individuals with AUD necessitates the provision of many opportunities for cognitive stimulation. Children must attain fundamental competencies commensurate with their chronological age in cognitive development. The objective of developing this educational game is to assist early childhood education (PAUD) teachers and parents in delivering instruction through imaginative and inventive simulations. This study employs the Research and Development (R&D) technique, utilizing a 4D model. The instructional game incorporates many level features that assess difficulty, accuracy, memory, and thinking abilities. This educational game encompasses four distinct learning modules tailored for early infant development. These modules include word completion exercises, counting activities, picture guessing tasks, color identification exercises, and competitive elements. The utilization of educational games is anticipated to facilitate the enhancement of children's cognitive capacities, thereby preparing them for the subsequent stages of their primary education.

Abstract

The issue of detection services for children with special needs in Indonesia still merits attention, as it necessitates intensive treatment to enhance parents' ability to identify their children with growth and development issues. Regarding this topic, parents need a wealth of knowledge and skills. Community Service in Depok assists families in identifying children with special needs. Participants in the brief course must understand the characteristics of children with special needs. The goals of community service activities are as follows: a) conducting training activities on the characteristics of ABK, and b) conducting child development screening activities for the "early detection" of child growth and development issues. a) Parental comprehension of children with special needs; and b) Stage I, coordination with Forkesi, the Depok ABK service agency, the Depok Health Service, and the Depok City Government. Then, all Depok city councils and municipalities were invited to participate in parent training activities with the special parent community. The second implementation phase entails training parents on the characteristics and ABK assessment programs. The subsequent activity in Phase III was observing ABK in the classroom and exercising child development screening with our Malaysian partner, Hospital Penawar. Stage IV involves conducting a FGD with parents, instructors, and the Depok Health Service in attendance. The next step will be collaborating to monitor the Depok Posyandu Movement's developments.

Abstract

Children with special needs often experience exclusion and marginalization, especially in access to education. Many traditional schools are not ready to accept them due to the lack of trained teachers. This forces children with special needs to travel long distances to get appropriate education. This study examines the role of institutions in providing services for children with special needs in Depok, focusing on the lack of understanding of parents in caring for children with special needs. The research method involved in-depth interviews and document analysis from various institutions that handle children with special needs in Depok. The results showed that institutions play an important role in supporting the education of children with special needs through the provision of special education facilities, teacher training, psychosocial support, and advocacy. This study emphasizes the importance of developing an adaptive education service model, supporting resources, and the crucial role of teachers in motivating and guiding children with special needs. Thus, increasing parents' understanding of their children's unique needs is a key factor in the success of these services.
