Abstract

ABSTRACT  Pediatric early warning system (PEWS) can be an early detection of worsening in pediatric patients with chronic diseases, quantitative studies related to the implementation of PEWS in children with chronic diseases have been carried out in various countries including the USA, Guatemala and China. The purpose of this review is to determine the implementation of PEWS in children with chronic diseases. This literature study uses a review method approach, data sources through Proquest, Science Key, Pubmed, JStore and CHINIL. Search articles using Indonesian and English keywords. Inclusion criteria and articles analyzed: research on the topic of PEWS in children with cancer. Articles obtained A total of 1,260 journals were taken. However, only 22 journals met the criteria for the last 10 years. In the end, only 6 journals that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. The results of the analysis show that PEWS is also suitable for use in low-income countries, or in developing countries. The currently developed PEWS is in accordance with the criteria for pediatric patients treated in hemato-oncology wards, and can reduce hospital costs in the country in addition to optimizing existing resource. Keywords: Implementation, Pediatric Early Warning System, Children With  Cancer, Chronic Disease

Abstract

The global COVID-19 pandemic has influenced the intervention delivery of Indonesia’s stunting reduction program. In this context, e-counseling can be adapted as an innovative approach to deliver interventions. This study aimed to explore counselors’ experiences when conducting tele-counseling. The five participants in this phenomenological study were counselors who had received breastfeeding and infant and young child feeding (IYCF) counseling training and participated in counseling service activities. The participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. In-depth interviews were conducted with each of the participant until data saturation was reached. Each interview was transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis method. Four themes were found in this study: exciting experiences, essential counseling skills, privacy concerns, and tele-counseling as service solution. The recommendation derived from this study is to continue the IYCF tele-counseling program as a service solution at health facilities.   Abstrak Pengalaman Konselor Telekonseling Pemberian Makan Bayi dan Anak: Studi Fenomenologi. Abstract

Kata kunci adalah: Music therapy AND Pain AND physiological responses AND children AND Intensive Care Unit.

Abstract

Background: Patient and family-centered care is one approach that is applied in pediatric care in various hospital settings to improve the quality of care. However, information related to the results of the entire study and its intervention model has not been identified effectively in child health care.Purpose: This study aimed to describe and assess the effects of patient and family-centered care on the quality of care in pediatric patients. Methods: A systematic review was used as a method in this study. Seven databases were used, including ScienceDirect, Scopus, ProQuest, EBSCO, Sage Journal, Tailor and Francis, and PubMed to search the literature for relevant published reviews that determined patient and family-centered care interventions between 2011 and 2021. The synthesis without meta-analysis guidelines was used to analyze the data in this review. The data were further analyzed by critically assessing the quality of the articles using the JBI and CASP checklists. Results: From a total of 29.780 articles identified, fifteen articles were included in this review. Several models of patient and family-centered care interventions were identified, such as family-centered care, family-centered communication program, family-integrated care, family nurture intervention, family empowerment, parent participation, close collaboration, mother-nurse partnership program, and the newborn individualized developmental care and assessment program. From those models, the outcomes for quality of care were related to the pediatric quality of life, length of stay, patient safety, parent satisfaction, parent psychological response, and parent involvement and partnership with staff. Conclusion: The shreds of evidence indicate that patient and family-centered care can improve the quality of care in the pediatric patients. It is recommended that patient and family-centered care can be implemented in pediatric care by increasing the participation of family during treatment.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the results of research that has been published regarding the effect of parental involvement in child care on parental stress and anxiety in the intensive care unit. The method used is a systematic review through search strategies on eight electronic databases with the keywords used (Parent involvement OR Parent participation OR Family Integrity Care OR Family Centered Care) AND (pediatric intensive care OR PICU OR NICU) AND (Parent Stress OR Parent anxiety). The search results obtained 12 articles that would be assessed for quality with the guidance of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). Research results show that parental involvement in child care in intensive care can reduce parental stress and anxiety. The highest significance was seen in the Family Integrated Care (FICare) program (p < 0.00043) and Family Centered Care (FCC) (p < 0.001) in the NICU room. In conclusion, all forms of parental involvement can reduce stress and anxiety, but parental involvement in child care in the PICU room is still limited. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of peripheral intravenous catheter replacement on clinical indications of complications in children. The method used is a review of eight articles on the impact of intravenous catheter replacement on clinical presentations on the incidence of complications in children using the ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Ebscohost, and Scopus databases. The inclusion criteria for the articles reviewed were research articles published in 2002-2022, accessible in full text and English. The exclusion criteria were articles not accessible in full text and check reports. The study's results obtained eight pieces that followed the study's objectives. The results of a systematic review of complications, 4 of 8 research articles showed that intravenous catheter replacement according to clinical indications did not significantly increase the risk of intravenous catheter complications; three research articles showed no significant difference to intravenous catheter complications.Regarding the survival time of intravenous catheters, of the eight articles reviewed, three reports stated that those replaced based on clinical indications had a longer survival time than those replaced routinely. Meanwhile, from cost efficiency, three articles said that routine catheter replacement increased hospital expenses. In conclusion, replacing intravenous catheters according to clinical indications has a more positive effect on pediatric patients. If surveillance for signs and symptoms of intravenous catheter complications is carried out regularly, signs of intravenous catheter complications can be detected early. Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the effect of Family Presence During Resuscitation (FPDR) on family satisfaction. The research method is a systematic review using the PICO format, and data extraction is carried out by critically assessing articles using JBI critical appraisal tools. The results showed that FPDR influenced family satisfaction. The level of satisfaction of families who implemented FPDR was higher than families who were not present during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In conclusion, FPDR can increase family satisfaction with health services. Families want to be offered the option of getting FPDR, but the application of FPDR still needs to be improved because they have to consider the readiness of FPDR services.
