Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ learning outcomes on the topic of momentum and impulse through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model integrated with a differentiated instructional approach. The study employed a classroom action research design involving 34 students of Class X MIA 4 and was conducted in two action cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages, with students’ learning outcomes assessed through a cognitive achievement test administered at the end of each cycle. The results showed that the predetermined success criterion was not achieved in Cycle I, where only 14 of the 34 students attained the minimum mastery criterion, resulting in a classical mastery level of 41%. After revising the instructional strategy, students’ performance improved substantially in Cycle II, with 30 students achieving mastery and a classical mastery level of 88%, exceeding the predetermined success criterion of 80%. These findings indicate that integrating the Discovery Learning model with differentiated instruction effectively improves students’ learning outcomes on the topic of momentum and impulse.

Abstract

Soil erosion is a major problem on sloping land that can reduce soil fertility and agricultural productivity. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of palm fiber (ijuk) nets and corn plants in controlling soil erosion on land with a slope of approximately 57° in Bina Jaya Village, Tolangohula District, Gorontalo Regency. The method used was a field experiment with three treatments: Plot I (ijuk net + corn), Plot II (ijuk net), and Plot III (without treatment). The observed data included rainfall, soil erosion mass, and corn growth used to calculate the Leaf Area Index (LAI). The results showed that Plot I produced the lowest soil erosion (16.8 kg), followed by Plot II (23.7 kg), and Plot III (84.5 kg). Rainfall had a direct influence on increasing soil erosion, especially on untreated land. Increasing LAI values contributed to reducing erosion by improving soil cover and reducing runoff. The effectiveness of the ijuk net reached 80.1% when combined with vegetation and 71.9% without vegetation. Therefore, the combination of ijuk net and corn plants is proven to be an effective, simple, economical, and sustainable soil conservation method for sloping land.

Abstract

One important parameter that needs to be considered in water quality is the acidity level (pH) in the water. This study aims to design and determine real-time and accurate pH sensor based on internet of thing (IoT). This system design uses an ESP32 microcontroller and The PH-4502C pH Meter Module sensor. The ESP32 can be connected to the IoT-based Blynk platform, allowing pH data to be monitored in real time via a smartphone. Testing of the IoT-based pH sensor was conducted to evaluate the system's real-time operation under varying distances. Meanwhile, the pH sensor's accuracy was determined by comparing its output with a digital pH meter using buffer solutions at different pH levels. The test results show that the time value required in each range is always constant, namely 1 s. This proves that IoT-based monitoring does not affect the range. Meanwhile, measurement of pH level was the average error value is 3.49%, and the sensor accuracy is 96.51%. These results indicate a low error rate, resulting in high accuracy. The sensor error value of 3.49% is lower than the specified error tolerance limit of <5%. This proves that the pH sensor, with an accuracy of 96.51%, is suitable and reliable for measuring pH in solutions.

Abstract

The waters of Lake Limboto show a decline in water quality, characterized by a decrease in clarity. Environmental factors, such as wind speed and direction, play a significant role in influencing the dynamics and quality of lake waters. To understand the influence of wind on water conditions, a comprehensive hydrodynamic study is required. This study focuses on analyzing the hydrodynamic characteristics of Lake Limboto waters based on momentum flux and its implications for lake water conditions. Wind speed and direction measurements were conducted on seven ducks in Lake Limboto waters during the period of November 1-3, 2024. Data were collected in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The lake's hydrodynamic characteristics were determined using formulas from the measured data. Hydrodynamic characteristics were interpolated using IDW cross validation leave one out and optimized with rank and neighboring point parameters. Wind direction was interpolated using IDW and converted into a vector field using Vector Field Layer Manager. It was found that the momentum flux by wind in Lake Limboto waters has a value range of 0-0.05 N/m2, and cross validation produced an RMSE of 0.003-0.01 N/m2. The interaction of momentum flux from wind and river flow causes sediment to be deposited in the coastal area of Lake Limboto.
