Abstract

This research aims to develop an effective method for teaching obligatory prayers at the early childhood education level, particularly at Raudhatul Athfal El Azzam. The study evaluates the use of the demonstration method in teaching these prayers. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, using interviews and observations to gather data on the method's implementation, student responses, and its impact on understanding prayer movements and recitations. The findings revealed that the demonstration method effectively helped students learn prayer procedures. The process began with a video tutorial, followed by a teacher's demonstration, and students taking turns practicing the prayer movements. After one week, joint practice further reinforced their skills. Supporting materials like prayer posters enriched the learning experience, and positive student responses indicated increased understanding and confidence. The study concludes that the demonstration method is successful in teaching obligatory prayers in an engaging and effective manner.

Abstract

Burnout in learning is an unpleasant emotional condition that arises when individuals engage in monotonous activities. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects are often considered less engaging, causing students to become bored and disinterested. Therefore, it is crucial for PAI teachers to employ creative teaching methods to establish effective learning environments. The method utilized in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data sources were gathered from PAI teachers, fourth-grade homeroom teachers, and fourth-grade students through observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques involved reduction, presentation, and conclusion/verification processes. Further data validation was carried out by expanding observations and using triangulation. The primary objective of this research is to illustrate the creativity of PAI teachers in employing methods that foster effective teaching and learning environments. The results of this research demonstrate PAI teachers' creativity in using methods, which includes the integration of multiple suitable methods to create effective teaching and learning environments at SD N 13 Lubuk Alung.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the implementation of the Drill method in improving students' Al-Qur'an reading skills at the Padang State Agricultural Development Vocational School. The Drill method, which emphasizes repeated practice, has been implemented by Islamic Religious Education teachers since 2022 and has shown positive results. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that the application of the Drill method is carried out consistently at two times, namely during PAI lessons and break times. The implementation stages include initial activities (prayer and preparation), core activities (getting to know the hijaiyah letters, understanding the science of recitation, and practicing reading verses repeatedly), and closing activities. With this method, students experience an increase in fluency, pronunciation of makhraj letters, and understanding of the rules of recitation. This research concludes that the Drill method is effective in significantly improving students' Al-Qur'an reading skills.

Abstract

Environmental conservation issues have become a central concern in the discourse of Islamic education, particularly in efforts to internalize sustainability values into Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in higher education. This article aims to analyze the representation of ecological conservation values in two commonly used IRE textbooks, employing a qualitative analysis approach grounded in Islamic ecotheology. Data were obtained through document analysis of the IRE textbook published by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) and the textbook authored by Dr. Nurhasanah, as well as through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with five IRE lecturers from four universities. The findings indicate that conservation values are more dominantly presented implicitly, with the category of "Khalīfah and Trust (Khalīfah and Amānah)" emerging as the most prominent narrative, while "Ecological Spirituality" receives minimal explicit attention. These differences in presentation style yield important pedagogical implications, especially regarding the lecturer's role in interpreting implicit values. The contribution of this article lies in offering the Islamic ecotheology framework as both an analytical and pedagogical approach to strengthening value-based sustainability education within the Islamic tradition. These findings underscore the importance of transforming the IRE curriculum from a normative narrative to a more contextual and reflective, transformative approach.

Abstract

Teachers of Islamic Study bear a great responsibility to help students have a balanced personality; physics, emotions, and intelligence consistent with the philosophy of Islamic Study and the goal of national Education. The courses of Islamic Study, aqidah, observance, akhlak, fiqih, alquran and history require various strategies, methods, and teaching media. It is considered inappropriate if teachers of Islamic Study spend most of the hours explaining all materials about shalat, hajj, and the history of Islam using ‘chalk and talk’ strategy. Therefore, applying ICT in the classroom such as using computers and internet connection in a teaching and learning process is likely to be an alternative. Some other previous research showed that many Islamic Study teachers were seldom applying ICT during the teaching and learning process. It might be due to the lack of facilities and training, and teachers’ low esteem. This article explains how integrated ICT; computers and internet connections may support the teaching and learning process in the classroom. The explanation is strengthened by some theories, experts’ reviews and previous research findings related to the Islamic Study. The findings of the article are expected to provide references that may be used to integrate ICT in the teaching and learning process.
