Abstract

Macaca hecki merupakan spesies primata endemik Pulau Sulawesi, yaitu monyet hitam Sulawesi yang populasinya kini terancam akibat deforestasi, fragmentasi habitat, dan konflik dengan manusia karena perambahan serta persaingan terhadap sumber pakan, terutama tanaman budidaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis vegetasi tumbuhan pakan Macaca hecki di kawasan penyangga Suaka Margasatwa Nantu Gorontalo, Indonesia. Metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif, dengan analisis vegetasi berbasis purposive random sampling serta pembagian petak contoh untuk strata semai, pancang, dan pohon. Data dikumpulkan melalui survei vegetasi lapangan, identifikasi jenis tumbuhan, dan perhitungan Indeks Nilai Penting (INP). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buah merupakan organ tumbuhan yang paling dominan dikonsumsi oleh Macaca hecki, dengan sumber pakan budidaya memiliki proporsi lebih besar (65%) dibandingkan sumber alami (35%). Pada tingkat pohon, Leucaena leucocephala memiliki nilai INP tertinggi (111,31%), diikuti oleh Arenga pinnata (69,11%), sedangkan Carica papaya (145,54%) mendominasi tingkat pancang dan Physalis angulata (149,04%) mendominasi tingkat semai. Jenis-jenis tumbuhan berbuah cepat tumbuh ini menyediakan sumber energi penting serta dukungan struktural bagi habitat. Namun, ketergantungan yang tinggi terhadap tumbuhan budidaya dapat mengubah perilaku mencari makan alami Macaca hecki, yang berpotensi mengurangi keragaman pakan dan kemampuan adaptasi ekologisnya. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pengelolaan vegetasi terpadu di kawasan penyangga untuk menyeimbangkan antara spesies asli dan budidaya, guna menjamin stabilitas ketersediaan pakan dan mengurangi konflik antara manusia dan satwa liar.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the potential and feasibility of ecotourism development within the riparian ecosystem of the Ilomata Village Forest Area, Bone Bolango Regency. A quantitative descriptive method was applied. Data on vegetation and fauna were collected through an exploratory survey conducted along the riparian zone of the Ilomata tourism site. Ecotourism feasibility was assessed using the Evaluation Instrument for Natural Tourism Objects and Attractions (ODO-ODTWA). The results showed that the riparian area hosts 13 plant species, dominated by Piper aduncum, Arenga pinnata Merr., and Ficus septica among the higher plant category, while the lower vegetation layer was dominated by ferns such as Phymatosorus scolopendria, Chromolaena odorata, and Dryopteris filix-mas (L.) Schoot. The fauna identified was predominantly from the Class Insecta, including the butterfly Vindula dejone as the most frequently observed species. The ecotourism feasibility index for the Ilomata riparian ecosystem was recorded at 59.3%, indicating a moderately feasible category. The attraction, environment and community, and management and services components received relatively high scores, whereas accessibility and tourism facilities were rated low. Therefore, improving accessibility and tourism infrastructure is necessary to support the development of sustainable ecotourism in the area.

Abstract

Studi ini menyajikan tinjauan sistematis yang komprehensif tentang ekowisata melalui sudut pandang tata kelola, konservasi keanekaragaman hayati, ketahanan sosial-ekologis, dan pembangunan berkelanjutan di berbagai konteks global. Mengacu pada literatur interdisipliner, tinjauan ini menyoroti partisipasi masyarakat dengan pendekatan pengelolaan bersama, membentuk kembali model tata kelola ekowisata untuk meningkatkan legitimasi dan ekuitas. Di daerah dengan keanekaragaman hayati yang tinggi melalui pariwisata berbasis spesies unggulan, ekowisata telah terbukti efektif dalam menyelaraskan insentif ekonomi dengan konservasi satwa liar. Selain itu, ekowisata berkontribusi dalam membangun ketahanan sosial-ekologis dengan memupuk kapasitas adaptif dan memperkuat lembaga masyarakat dalam sistem yang kompleks. Studi kasus regional, termasuk inisiatif ekowisata mangrove di kawasan GCC dan pembangunan pedesaan terpadu, menekankan potensi strategi pariwisata berkelanjutan yang spesifik pada konteks tertentu. Meskipun hasilnya bervariasi, implikasi ekonomi, sosial, dan ekologi dari ekowisata menunjukkan bahwa ekowisata dapat menjadi alat yang layak untuk pembangunan berkelanjutan jika dikelola secara inklusif dan adaptif. Tinjauan ini mensintesiskan pola-pola utama dan mengidentifikasi wawasan strategis untuk menginformasikan kebijakan, perencanaan, dan penelitian masa depan dalam ekowisata global

Abstract

Artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) can increase the levels of heavy metals in surface water and groundwater sources. This study was conducted to evaluate water quality in Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo, Indonesia. Sampling was performed at three sites: a reservoir, an irrigation channel, and a well. The concentrations of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), and mercury (Hg) were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The results indicated that Hg concentrations ranged from 0.00883 to 0.01493 mg/L (≈8.8–14.9× above the WHO guideline value of 0.001 mg/L), Mn concentrations ranged from 0.1309 to 0.543 mg/L (≈1.3–5.4× above the WHO guideline value of 0.1 mg/L), while Pb concentrations ranged from 0.0019 to 0.0048 mg/L, Cd concentrations ranged from 0.0002 to 0.0006 mg/L, and Fe concentrations ranged from 0.0728 to 0.101 mg/L, all of which were below the recommended threshold values for drinking water. The findings emphasize the importance of mitigation strategies based on mining governance, strengthening water safety plans, as well as interventions for household water treatment (adsorption/filtration) and risk communication.

Abstract

This study analyzes the socio-ecological dynamics of land management in Sari Tani Village, located within the buffer zone of the Nantu Boliohuto Wildlife Sanctuary (SM). Previous studies have focused more on the biophysical aspects of land degradation and the impacts of agricultural activities on conservation areas, but have been limited in integrating the analysis of inter-factor relationships, land management strategies by different social groups, and the role of local institutions within a comprehensive socio-ecological framework. The study was conducted over two months using a qualitative approach through field observations and in-depth interviews with 40 farmers (20 local and 20 transmigrants), village officials, middlemen, community leaders, agricultural extension workers, and forestry agencies. Data were analyzed using a Social-Ecological System (SES) framework to capture the interrelationships between resource systems, resource units, actors, and governance. The results indicate that the degradation of resource systems and resource units is influenced by differences in management strategies between local and transmigrant farmers. Local farmers tend to open new land due to monoculture practices that reduce soil fertility, while transmigrant farmers adopt a relatively more adaptive and conservative intercropping pattern. Weak governance, minimal institutional coordination, and the dominant role of middlemen contribute to reinforcing incentives for land expansion. Interactions between actors demonstrate that land-use decisions are driven more by short-term economic motives than by ecological sustainability considerations. This research emphasizes the importance of strengthening collaborative governance, implementing conservation agriculture practices, and integrating local knowledge into buffer zone management. These findings are expected to fill the research gap related to socio-ecological analysis in conservation areas and serve as a reference for policy formulation and the development of sustainable landscape management models in protected area buffer zones.

Abstract

Hutan mangrove merupakan salah satu ekosistem pesisir yang berfungsi sebagai habitat penting bagi kepiting dan biota asosiasi lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan komposisi spesies kepiting berdasarkan tegakan mangrove, nilai keanekaragaman kepiting, serta parameter habitat kepiting di Desa Dudepo, Kecamatan Anggrek, Kabupaten Gorontalo Utara. Penelitian lapangan dilakukan pada tahun 2023 dengan metode survei deskriptif melalui purposive sampling pada dua stasiun, yaitu tegakan Avicennia alba dan Rhizophora apiculata. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan kuantitatif menggunakan indeks keanekaragaman Shannon–Wiener. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tegakan Avicennia alba ditemukan 10 spesies kepiting dengan total 75 individu, sedangkan pada tegakan Rhizophora apiculata ditemukan 11 spesies dengan total 97 individu. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman pada stasiun I sebesar 2,17 dan pada stasiun II sebesar 2,24; keduanya tergolong kategori sedang. Parameter habitat menunjukkan kisaran suhu 28–30°C, pH 6,53–7,27, salinitas 23–25‰, dan DO 4,5–5 mg/L dengan substrat lumpur hingga lumpur berpasir. Pada kedua stasiun juga ditemukan 5 spesies biota asosiasi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa habitat mangrove di Desa Dudepo masih mendukung keberadaan komunitas kepiting, dengan kondisi yang relatif lebih baik pada tegakan Rhizophora apiculata

Abstract

Aren (Arenga pinnata) has emerged as a multifunctional tropical species. It has the potential to contribute to sustainable value chain development, the circular bioeconomy, and rural livelihoods. Nevertheless, existing literature remains fragmented and addresses ecological, technological, and governance dimensions in isolation. This study systematically reviews the literature on the sustainable value chain transformation of A. pinnata within tropical bioresource systems. It identifies factors influencing its transition from a traditional multipurpose palm to a strategic bioresource platform. A systematic literature review was conducted through a structured process. The steps included search, screening, eligibility assessment, data extraction, and thematic synthesis. The review combined empirical studies with broader literature on circular bioeconomy, value chain restructuring, social sustainability, and governance. The analysis covered four thematic domains: upstream resource systems, midstream processing and upgrading, downstream diversification, and market or institutional alignment. The review shows that A. pinnata can drive transformative change. This is due to its multifunctionality, ecological adaptability, and diverse product pathways. Upstream research highlights its role in agroforestry, biodiversity-linked landscapes, and livelihood systems. Midstream studies identify opportunities for product stabilization, fermentation, and process improvement. Downstream investigations show promising use in thermoplastic starch, composites, functional biomaterials, and circular by-products. However, integration among these advances is weak. Technical innovation often outpaces commercialization and governance. Value distribution, coordination, and inclusion also remain underdeveloped. The study concludes that the sustainable transformation of A. pinnata requires integrating resource sustainability, technological upgrading, and market or institutional alignment. This review offers an integrated framework for understanding aren-based transformation and identifies priorities for future research on commercialization, circularity, and inclusive tropical bioresource development.

Abstract

Gastropoda merupakan biota perairan yang hidup dalam ekosistem mangrove yang mempunyai peran ekologis dalam rantai makanan pada ekosistem mangrove dan menjadi bioindikator lingkungan karena hidupnya yang relatif tetap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur komunitas Gastropoda di kawasan mangrove Desa Persatuan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif, metode pengambilan data menggunakan metode survey dan penentuan stasiun pengamatan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada 3 stasiun yakni stasiun 1 tipe substrat pasir berlumpur, stasiun 2 tipe substrat berlumpur dan stasiun 3 kawasan tambak. Berdasarkan data Gastropoda yang di peroleh pada kawasan mangrove Desa Persatuan terdapat 15 spesies Gastropoda yang terdiri dari 9 family dan 12 genus dengan total individu 7.090. Keanekaragaman Gastropoda pada stasiun 1 diperoleh nilai H’ = 2.20 dengan indeks keseragaman E = 0.86, stasiun 2 dengan niali H’= 1.66 dengan indeks keseragaman E = 0.80, dan stasiun 3 dengan nilai H’ = 0.70 dan indeks keseragaman E = 0.64. Dominansi pada stasiun 1 dan stasiun 2 memiliki kategori yang rendah, sedangkan stasiun 3 memiliki kategori tinggi. Tingginya nilai indeks dominansi di stasiun 3 menandakan adanya spesies yang mendominansi, yaitu spesies Telespocium telespocium. Spesies Telespocium telespocium memiliki kemelimpahan tertinggi di setiap stasiun dengan nilai indeks kemelimpahan 0.38%. Kemudian diikuti oleh spesies Telescopium mauritsi dengan nilai 0.19%. Pola penyebaran Gastropoda di setiap stasiun memiliki nilai > 0 yang menandakan penyebaran mengelompok.

Abstract

Macrozoobenthos is an animal species that lives on the bottom of the waters and has various roles in the ecosystem, such as its role as a biological indicator that reacts to the condition of water quality so that its existence can be used as an indicator of water quality. This study aims to determine the diversity and abundance of macrozoobenthos in the mangrove ecosystem of Persatuan Village, Pohuwato Regency. This type of research is quantitative descriptive, the data collection method uses a survey method and the determination of observation stations uses a purposive sampling technique. Sampling was carried out at 2 stations, namely station 1 muddy substrate type and station 2 sandy mud. Based on the Macrozoobenthos data obtained in the mangrove ecosystem of Persatuan Village, there are 22 species consisting of 15 families and 22 genera with a total of 5,363 individuals. The diversity of Macrozoobenthos at station 1 obtained a value of H '= 2.42 and station 2 with a value of H '= 1.51. The abundance at stations 1 and 2 has a high category. The high value of the Abundance index at station 1 and station 2 indicates the presence of a dominant species, namely the Telescopium mauritsi species. The Telescopium mauritsi species has the highest abundance at each station with an index value of Di = 0.311.
