Abstract

The aim of this development research is to design discovery learning-based student worksheets (LKPD) to facilitate the mathematical critical thinking skills of Phase D students by meeting validity and practicality criteria. This study is motivated by the crucial role of critical thinking skills in students' education. The research employs a development method (R&D) following the 4-D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The study involved 15 students from Babussalam Junior High School, Pekanbaru, as the test subjects. Research instruments included a validation questionnaire to assess the validity of the LKPD and a student response questionnaire to evaluate its practicality. Based on the expert validator's analysis, the validity score was 94.43%, indicating the LKPD is highly valid. Meanwhile, the practicality score, derived from the student response questionnaire, was 87.98%, categorizing the LKPD as highly practical. Thus, the development of discovery learning-based LKPD is recommended for use in learning activities related to circle content to enhance the critical thinking skills of Phase D students.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the issue of students’ low performance in mathematical communication skills. The purpose of this development research was to produce a teaching module based on the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach for the topic of statistics, aimed at facilitating the mathematical communication skills of seventh-grade students in junior high school. The research was conducted at SMPN 17 Pekanbaru and employed the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Validation of the teaching module was conducted by three expert validators, followed by revisions based on their suggestions and feedback. A one-on-one trial with three students was then carried out to evaluate the readability of the student worksheet within the module. After being declared valid, the module was tested on a small group of six students and a large group of 33 students to assess its practicality. The results showed that the average validation score was 90%, which falls into the “very valid” category. Furthermore, the average student response score was 91%, indicating a “very practical” category. These findings suggest that the developed teaching module is both valid and practical, and can be effectively used by teachers in the mathematics learning process.

Abstract

This study emphasizes the importance of fostering self-regulated learning among students. The aim is to develop Articulate Storyline-based learning media on the topic of congruence that is both valid and practical for junior high school students. The development process follows the 4D framework: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The participants of this research were ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 35 Pekanbaru. Data for this study were collected through literature reviews, design validation, and questionnaires using instruments such as validation questionnaires, self-regulated learning questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The validity analysis results indicate that the learning media is highly valid, with an average score of 3.75. The practicality analysis from the large-group test shows that the media is highly practical, with an average score of 0.90. Additionally, the self-regulated learning score is 78.18%, categorized as good. Based on these results, the learning media is suitable for use, having fulfilled both validity and practicality requirements.

Abstract

The limited availability of supplementary mathematics learning resources aligned with the 2013 Curriculum motivated this study. The objective was to develop learning tools comprising a syllabus, lesson plans, and student worksheets on the topics of quadrilaterals and triangles for seventh-grade SMP/MTs students, using an experiential learning approach to enhance their creative thinking abilities. This research employed the 4D development model, consisting of the define, design, develop, and disseminate phases. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The research instruments included validation sheets and practicality questionnaires. Expert validation indicated high levels of validity, with average scores of 3.56 for the syllabus, 3.70 for the lesson plans, and 3.67 for the student worksheets. Student worksheets were also found to be highly practical, as reflected in student response scores of 3.48 in large group trials and 3.51 in small group trials. These findings confirm that the developed mathematics learning tools are both valid and practical for use by seventh-grade students in SMP/MTs.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the importance of fostering student independence in learning, particularly through the development of self-regulated learning, which does not emerge without external support. The aim of this study is to develop interactive learning media assisted by iSpring that meet the criteria of validity and practicality, in order to support students self-regulated learning and help eighth-grade junior high school/madrasah students understand the topic of flat-sided geometric solids. The development process follows the ADDIE model. The test subjects consisted of eighth-grade students at SMPN 20 Pekanbaru. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires, using instruments such as expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and a self-regulated learning questionnaire. Validation results indicated that the media was classified as very valid with an average score of 3.76. In the small group trial, student responses yielded an average score of 0.92 (very practical), while the self-regulated learning score averaged 77.51% (good). In the large group trial, student responses had an average score of 0.81 (practical), and the self-regulated learning score was 79.61% (good). These results indicate that the developed learning media meets the criteria of being both valid and practical.

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of students' low mathematical understanding ability, which is a crucial competency in mathematics learning. In response, the research aims to develop a discovery learning-based student worksheet on the topic of geometric transformations to support meaningful learning for Grade XI high school students. The study adopts a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model, consisting of the stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, observations, validation procedures, and worksheet trials. The research involved six students from Class XI-B MIPA at Al-Muslimun Senior High School during the implementation stage. Two main instruments were employed: a validation sheet to assess the validity of the worksheet and a student response questionnaire to evaluate its practicality. The results showed that the developed worksheet achieved a very valid category with an average score of 3.61 and a very practical classification in small-group trials, with an average score of 89.16. These findings indicate that the developed student worksheet meets the criteria of both validity and practicality, making it a potential alternative learning resource in mathematics education.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a student worksheet based on the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model to facilitate students' mathematical creative thinking skills on the topic of systems of linear equations in two variables. The development process follows the 4-D model: define, design, develop, and disseminate. During the define phase, problems in current learning resources were identified through interviews and observations. The design phase involved the creation of a worksheet aligned with CPS syntax and learning objectives. In the develop phase, expert validations and student trials were conducted, resulting in a validity score of 91% and a practicality score of 92%, indicating the product is very valid and very practical. The final product was disseminated through seminars and school distribution. The results show that the CPS-based student worksheet is feasible and can serve as an effective learning resource to enhance students' mathematical creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of school operational management and transformational leadership of the principal on the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) of elementary school teachers in Sail District. PCK is a key element in teacher professionalism that reflects the ability to integrate pedagogical knowledge with open materials to create effective learning experiences. School operational management plays a role in creating a conducive environment for the development of teacher professionalism, while the transformational leadership of the principal provides inspiration, motivation, and support for improving teacher competence. This study uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis methods. The results showed that school operational management had a significant effect on teacher PCK with a regression coefficient value of β = 0.412, p <0.05. The transformational leadership of the principal also had a significant effect on teacher PCK with a value of β = 0.378, p <0.05. Simultaneously, both variables contribute to teacher PCK with a determination coefficient value of R² = 0.621, indicating that 62.1% of teacher PCK variability can be explained by school operational management and principal transformational leadership. The implication of this study is the importance of strengthening the operational management system and principal transformational leadership in improving the quality of learning in elementary schools. Therefore, schools need to implement effective managerial strategies and visionary leadership to optimize teacher competence in teaching.

Abstract

Quality education is the key to creating superior and competitive human resources. The Teacher Leader Education Program is one of the initiatives of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia to improve teacher competence and encourage positive changes in the education sector. This study aims to analyze the management of the teacher leader education program at the kindergarten level in Pekanbaru City, which involves two schools, namely TK Negeri Pembina 1 and TK Negeri Pembina 3. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, documentation, and observation. Research informants include teacher leaders, principals, and colleagues who are directly involved in the program. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the teacher leader education program in Pekanbaru City faces various challenges such as resistance to change and lack of support and time to carry out tasks. However, this program has succeeded in providing a positive impact in improving teacher pedagogical competence and creating a more innovative and effective learning environment. Good program implementation requires ongoing support from various parties, including facilitators, mentors, and the education community. Periodic evaluation and continuous improvement are needed to ensure that this program can achieve its goals optimally and make a real contribution to improving the quality of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Teacher performance is something that needs and deserves to be examined in depth. Many factors cause problems related to teacher performance. This article will cover the influence of the principal's academic supervision and school climate on the performance of state middle school teachers. This research uses a quantitative-descriptive approach. This quantitative descriptive research systematically, actually, and accurately describes certain social phenomena, with the aim of describing in detail the existing facts and data. Data collection techniques use observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The subjects of the research were 76 teachers at state middle schools. The results of the research show that: 1) The principal's academic supervision has a significant positive influence on teacher performance, with a significance value of 0.022 or smaller than the alpha value of 0.05. 2) School climate has a significant positive influence on teacher performance, with a significance value of 0.000. 3) The principal's academic supervision and school climate jointly influence teacher performance, with a significance value of 0.000 and an R-Square value of 0.590 indicating that the proportion of influence of the principal's academic supervision variable and school climate on the teacher performance variable is 59.0%.
