Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia due to inadequate insulin production or impaired insulin utilization. In Indonesia, the prevalence of DM reaches 11.7% in adults, with a significant burden in Batam, particularly at Puskesmas Sei Langkai. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and nutritional status with blood glucose levels in type 2 DM patients aged 45–69 years. This is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design conducted in October 2025, involving 120 respondents selected purposively. Physical activity was measured using a short IPAQ questionnaire and converted to MET-minutes/week, nutritional status was measured using Body Mass Index (BMI), and random blood glucose levels were measured using a glucometer. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test. The results showed that the majority of respondents were aged 45–59 years (76.7%), female (70.8%), had a high school education (65.8%), were unemployed (67.5%), and had suffered from DM for 1–5 years (62.5%). Most had moderate physical activity (65.8%) and normal nutritional status (77.5%), but 53.3% had uncontrolled blood glucose levels. Analysis showed a significant negative relationship between physical activity and blood glucose levels (r = -0.305, p = 0.001), while nutritional status showed no significant relationship (r = 0.159, p = 0.083). These findings confirm that physical activity plays an important role in blood glucose control, while nutritional status alone is not the main determining factor. DM management should include regular physical activity, a balanced diet, adherence to therapy, and routine glucose monitoring.

Abstract

Uric acid is the end result of catabolism (breakdown) of a substance called purine. Purine substances are natural substances which are one of the groups of chemical structures that form DNA and RNA.. This research is a quantitative study, using an analytic design with a cross sectional approach with the affordable population in this study were all elderly people in the Sei Langkai Health Center Working Area in 2024, totaling 203 elderly gout. The sampling method technique used in this researcher uses simple random sampling by measuring body mass index in the elderly, which consists of measuring body weight using a weight scale in kilograms and height in the elderly using a stature meter in centimeters and measuring blood pressure using a tensimeter, then measuring uric acid in the elderly using Easy Touch. P-value of 0.000, which means that there is a strong correlation between BMI and uric acid levels in the elderly and there is a significant relationship between blood pressure and the incidence of gout, with a P-value of 0.000.Keywords: Body Mass Index, Blood Pressure, Uric Acid, Elderly

Abstract

To do well in a class, you must make sure you understand the material thoroughly. However, there will be times when certain students at SDN Gili Anyar have difficulty grasping the material, especially in the science sessions. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) learning resources in enhancing scientific education at SDN Gili Anyar. The research followed the standard procedure for quantitative studies by using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The significance level of 0.000, which is lower than the recognized threshold of 0.05, was shown by the results of the comprehension assessment's paired sample t-test. Students' understanding of scientific concepts is significantly enhanced by the virtual reality-based science learning medium at SDN Gili Anyar.
