Abstract

Abstract. Based on various studies, cigarettes are harmful to the health of both active and passive smokers. That is the reason The Fatwa and Islamic Research Council, The Central Board of Muhammadiyah forbidding smoking behavior (haram). Nevertheless, many muslim students at University smoke. Thepurpose of this study is to descibe smoking behavior of Muslim students in Surakarta. The informants are active smokers (n=119) determined by purposive sampling. This study uses qualitative research methods with an exploration approach. The result shows that the students initiate their smoking behavior sincejunior high school. The internal factors that affect smoking behavior are the need for pleasure, existence, acceptance of social environment and stress coping. The external factors consist of social and family environment that have smoking habit. Smoking behavior continues because students tend to consider short-term benefits (psychological and social) rather than the long term health risks. The active smokerstudents do not identify themselves as part of the Muhammadiyah community therefore they do not concern about the Fatwa issued by The Central Board of Muhammadiyah. Most students want to quit smoking for two reasons: the encouragement of the closest people who object to smoking behavior andfeeling a deterioration in health.Keywords: muslim; smoking behavior; university student

Abstract

Abstract Academic achievement is an important indicator of academic success. This study aims to analyze the effect of self-regulated learning in mediating the effect of parental involvement on academic achievement. Data collection for participants in this study (n = 206) was carried out using the convenience sampling technique. The validity of the items in the instrument was tested with the content validity index (CVI) and the reliability test used an internal consistency approach.  The results of testing the validity of the parental involvement scale showed that the V Aiken coefficient ranged from 0.604-0.964 and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.816, while the Motivated Strategy for Learning Questionnaire scale obtained the V Aiken coefficient between 0.821-0.928 with a Cronbach alpha coefficient value of 0.765 which met the validity and reliability requirements. Data analysis was performed using Structure Equation Modeling (SEM). Based on the research results that self-regulated learning mediates the effect of parental involvement on high school student academic achievement. The implication of this research is the importance of parental assistance in developing students' skills in planning and managing learning activities, not only on student achievement in academics.Keywords: academic achievement; high school students; parental involvement; self-regulated learning.  Abstrak Prestasi akademik menjadi salah satu indikator penting dalam keberhasilan pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran self-regulated learning dalam memediasi pengaruh keterlibatan orang tua terhadap prestasi akademik siswa. Sebanyak 206 orang siswa SMA berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik convenience sampling. Validitas butir pernyataan dalam instrumen diuji dengan content validity index (CVI) dan uji reliabilitas menggunakan pendekatan konsistensi internal. Hasil pengujian validitas skala keterlibatan orang tua menunjukkan koefisien V Aiken berkisar 0,604-0,964 dan koefisien alfa Cronbach sebesar 0,816, sedangkan skala Motivated Strategy for Learning Questionnaire diperoleh koefisien V Aiken antara 0,821-0,928 dengan nilai koefisien alfa Cronbach sebesar 0,765 yang memenuhi persyaratan validitas dan reliabilitas. Data dianalisis dengan structure equation modelling (SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa self-regulated learning memediasi pengaruh keterlibatan orang tua terhadap prestasi akademik siswa SMA. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah pendampingan orang tua pada siswa difokuskan pada upaya mengembangkan keterampilan siswa dalam merencanakan dan mengelola kegiatan belajar, bukan hanya pada capaian akademik siswanya.Kata kunci: keterlibatan orang tua; prestasi akademik; self-regulated learning; siswa SMA

Abstract

Formal education has shaped various types of women in this era of globalization. Formal education has a very decisive role in the development of human potential to the fullest. The low level of education is one of the factors causing poverty and adversity. Through education, people have the opportunity to explore their potential in order to obtain a more decent life. Therefore, because the current workforce is not monopolized by men who have dual roles in addition to being housewives and helping to earn a living. The basis of the large number of women making a living is influenced by the need to survive when their husbands cannot provide for a living and the existence of adversity intelligence that makes working women see opportunities in every difficulty that exists. This study seeks to determine the effect of Formal Education and Adversity Intelligence on the marital satisfaction of working women. The quantitative method was used in this study to conduct the research. The population in the study of women working in the Boyolali area of the city amounted to 500 people. The sampling method used purposive sampling so that the total sample was 170 people. Research findings of formal education have implications for marital satisfaction among working women, where the higher the formal education, the lower the level of marital satisfaction. In terms of adversity intelligence, the lower the level of marital satisfaction, the greater the level of adversity intelligence of working women. Furthermore, there is a 34.7 per cent correlation between formal education and adversity intelligence in the context of working women's marital satisfaction.

Abstract

Abstrak. Kedisiplinan memiliki peranan penting dalam membentuk pribadi yang taat pada aturan-aturan yang ada dan bertanggung jawab terhadap tugas yang harus dikerjakan. Kedisiplinan dapat meningkat, salah satunya dipengaruhi oleh kesadaran diri. Sehingga perlu adanya pengelolaan kesadaran pada diri untuk memahami, mengenali, mengakui, dan mengekspresikan diri secara akurat. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa SMK yang memiliki kategori tingkat kedisiplinan yang rendah. Keseluruhan subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 20 siswa, yang terbagi dalam 2 kelompok yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Quasi Experimental Design dengan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling, dan dengan model desain eksperimen pre test-post test control group design. Uji hipotesis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik Man Whitney U-Test dengan nilai z= -3.485 dan  sig (2 tailed)= 0,000 dimana (p<0,01), yang berarti terdapat perbedaan tingkat kedisiplinan yang signifikan antara kelompok yang diberikan pelatihan kesadaran diri dibandingkan dengan kelompok yang tidak diberikan pelatihan kesadaran diri.Kata kunci: Kedisiplinan, Pelatihan Kesadaran diri.Abstract. Discipline has an important role in managing individuals who obey the rules that exist and are responsible for the tasks that must be done. Discipline can increase, one of which is developed by self-awareness. Because it needs to be considered, awareness must be approved, approved, recognized, and approved. The subjects in this study were vocational students who had a low level of discipline category. All subjects in this study were 20 student experiments, which were divided into 2 groups: the experimental group and the control group. The research method used in this study were the Quasi Experimental Design method with a purposive sampling technique and the pre-test design model of the control group design. Hypothesis testing in this study use the Man Whitney U-Test technique with a value of z = -3,485 and sig (2 tailed) = 0,000 where (p <0.01), which on average contains a significant level of discipline compared to the group that is not given self-awareness training.Keywords: Discipline, Self Awareness Training

Abstract

Objektif:Karyawan diharapkan mampu menyelesaikan tuntutan pekerjaannya seperti kelelahan kerja agar mampu bersaing dan meningkatkan produktivitas dalam bekerja. Pelatihan job crafting menjadi salah satu cara untuk mengurangi burnout, karena job crafting membantu karyawan untuk aktif dan proaktif dalam bekerja. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas pelatihan job crafting untuk menurunkan burnout pada karyawan.Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah 28 orang karyawan PT. CDM Semarang Jawa Tengah yang dibagi menjadi kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Pengukuran burnout dilakukan dengan skala Maslach Burnout inventory (MBI). Data dianalisis dengan analisis ANOVA mixed design.Temuan: Hasil uji interaksi skor burnout antara kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol yang disilangkan dengan waktu pengukuran skor (pretest-posttest-follow up) menunjukkan nilai F-hitung sebesar 52,977 dan signifikansi 0,000. Sumbangan efektif yang diberikan pelatihan job crafting dalam menurunkan burnout adalah sebesar 85,5% untuk kelompok eksperimen.Kesimpulan:Pelatihan job crafting efektif digunakan untuk menurunkan burnout pada karyawan.Objektif:Karyawan diharapkan mampu menyelesaikan tuntutan pekerjaannya seperti kelelahan kerja agar mampu bersaing dan meningkatkan produktivitas dalam bekerja. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini ialah memeriksa hubungan antara dukungan sosial dan burnout di sebuah rumah sakit swasta di Surakarta, Jawa Tengah.Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 45 perawat putri di rumah sakit tersebut. Dua skala digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu: (1) skala dukungan sosial dirancang unruk mengukur dukungan sosial, terdiri atas empat aspek:perhatian emosional, dukungan instrumental, penyediaan intormasi, danadanya penilaian. (2) skala burnout lerdiri atas tiga aspek, yaitu: kelelahan fisik, kelefahan mental. dan kelelahan emosional. Hasil analisis produk momen menunjukkan adanya korefasi negatif dan signifikan antara dukungan sosial dan burnout di antara para perawat putri di rumah sakitswasta.Kata kunci: dukungan sosial, burnout, perawat putri

Abstract

This study ains to examine the effectiveness of emotion regulation training to increase self adjustment. The research method used experiment with pretest posttest control group design. The participants were 20 young orphans, grouped into experimental and control group with 10 participants for each group obtained through matching method. The participants were given pretest, posttest, and follow up using self adjustment scale reviewed by expert judgment. The Mann Whitney U Test shows that there are significant differences on self adjustment between experimental and control group. The Wilcoxon test shows that there is a significant increase of self adjustment score on experimental group after the training was given. Thus, the emotion regulation training was effective to improve youth's self adjustment who live in the orphanage.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to (1) identify the contribution of teacher advisory association in developing teachers’ competence and (2) identify the management implemented for teacher development. This is a qualitative descriptive study. The setting of the study is Junior High School of Boyolali district central Java. The subjects of this study are 80 teacher advisors, 11 Managers, and 8 headmasters. The data are collected through questionnaire, observation, and documentation. The results indicates that the existence of teacher association is needed for teacher advisors as a forum to develop teacher professionalism. Teacher Association has a great contribution to enhance the teachers’ competences, including professional, pedagogic, social, and rersonality competence. Various types of counseling skills practiced in this forum. Good management helps improve the professionalism of teachers. In conclusion, teacher association has great contribution to develop the professionalism of teacher advisor. The teachers who are active in this association can develop their competencies and good management of this association gives good results in the teacher development.

Abstract

Multidisciplinary study is often conducted to investigate emotions. Research on emotions focuses on the situation, behavior and beliefs that underlie the emergence of emotion, and not on the emotion itself. Research on emotion not only examine the types of emotions alone but is associated with the situation, behaviors, and beliefs. It is inseparable from emotion regulation system that is owned by someone. Gross Thompson and Kalat Shiota state that emotion regulation may serve as a coping strategy to face psychological distress. Prihartanti’s research shows that in Javanese culture (Suryomentaram concept), a healthy person must be a able to adapt to the environment with introspective methods. Theoretically, the introspective method is similar to the concept of emotion regulation version of western culture. Therefore, this study intends to study the difference between the two concepts.The research method used is a comparative study using two approaches, namely qualitative and quantitative. A qualitative approach was conducted in the first year with the aim of acquiring data directly from the field then compiled into a gauge or scale. Quantitative approaches were used to examine differences between the introspective emotion regulation. Result shows that there are differences and similarities between the concepts of introspection in Suryomentaram with emotion regulation. The similarity lies on the ultimate goal, role and function, cognitive approaches and generalizations, while the difference lies in the step or process.

Abstract

This study deals with the relationships of social support and self confidence with the English language achievement of eight grade students of State Junior High School 6 Boyolali. The purpose of this study was to determine (1) the relationship of social sup- port and confidence with the English language student achievement; (2) the relation- ship of social support to the achievement of English language students, and (3) the relationship of confidence with the English language student achievement. The popula- tion of this study was all eighth grade students of State Junior High School 6 Boyolali, amounting to 201 students and the number of samples were 132 students taken by proportional random sampling technique. This study uses the method of documentation and questionnaire as data collection technique, while the technique of data analysis in this study was the Pearson correlation and multiple linear. The results showed as fol- lows: (1) there is a relationship of social support and self confidence with the English language student achievement (F-test = 222.948); (2) there is a relationship of social support to the students’ English achievement (r = 0.445 with p0.05); (3) there is a relationship of self confidence with the English language student achievement (r = 0.445 with p0.05).
