Abstract

Calculus II or calculus integral is a compulsory course which must be taken in mathemathics program. This course is also become prerequisite for another course. based on the observation, the method used is expository which make the students’ skill and  motivation are still low. The material for the course is already fixed and that should be changed is the teaching model. One of methods which can be developed is maple based of  IDEAL problem solving. The purpose of the research is produce a valid  and effective teaching aid. The development of devices learning which 4D models is designed and modified into 3D (define, design, develop) based on Thiagajaran and semmel theory. The result of the research showed that the (1) development of devices learning with maple based of IDEAL problem solving  is valid, (2) the implementation of the teaching aid is effective, showed from the students’ (a) problem solving ability by itsstandard achievement criteria, (b) there is significant result on the improvement of skill in the process into the motivation of problem solving ability, (c) problem solving ability after the treatment show better result rather than before the treatment. However, it is suggested for thelecturer to apply the teaching model as an  alternative  to improve the motivation, processing skill, and problem solving ability.

Abstract

Students often have math anxiety which results in low learning outcomes. Giving story questions turned out to raise student’s difficulties in solving problems, including identif ying elements that are known, asked, andadequacy of elements, and making mathematical models of story problems. This indicates that the problemsolving ability of non-mathematics major students in basic mathematics courses is low. Lesson Study Learning based on character education can facilitate the acquisition of solutions to the above problems. The most important stages in lesson study are stages of reflection (see), in which the stages are stated all findings in learning are then given input in order to improve learning. This study uses the descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The activity carried out is to describe the reflection of basic mathematics learning as the final stage of the lesson study implementation. The research variable is in the form of a dependent variable, such as students' problem solving abilities and independent variables, namely student activity and creativity. It was obtained an average problem solving ability of 81.52. While the students’ activeness with an average of 8 3.4 categories is very active and the average of students’ creativity is 81.3 with a very good category. The character building for students, such as honesty, discipline, creativity, curiosity, enthusiasm, responsibility, tolerance, hard work, democratic, friendly / communicative, independent, religious, caring for the environment, and socially concerned. Hopefully, further research can be carried out to improve abilities understanding’s student concepts in basic mathematics subjects. Keywords: lesson study, reflection, basic mathematics

Abstract

The external turmoil that occurs today has a negative impact on all the structure and order of the domestic system. One of the recovery efforts is the implementation of mental revolution through character education. The character education can be applied to the affective aspect ofthe basic mathematics learning which will be integrated with basic mathematics material using character to be implemented. In addition, the colleges can be a place for student character development. This research was conducted at Muhammadiyah University of Semarang andSemarang State University. This research is a quantitative descriptive research using UCLA evaluation method. The data were collected by questionnaire method and interview. The results showed, 1) lecturers have little impact on the development of student character.2) program planning, given the integrated learning character education. 3) Program implementation, character education has never been introduced or used in the majority of learning. Indirectly, some character education indicators have been embedded in the students. However, most indicators are still not fully embedded, such as honesty, religious, caring for others, discipline, hard work, self-reliance, and responsibility. Thus, it is necessary to develop character values on basic mathematics learning applied to processes, techniques, andassessment instruments. Keywords: Character education, UCLA, basic

Abstract

The crisis is occurred in Indonesia. It is caused by the weakness of the education system that has not made thecommunity have the ability and independence, the lack of strong mental foundation development, and the weakness of competitiveness. The government has implemented the KKNI-based curriculum to strengthen the student’s compet it iveness and character. The focus of lecturing not only conveys the materials, but also there are four things: 1). attitude, 2). work ability, 3). knowledge, 4). managerial and responsibility. Through archival work experiences is expected to connect between universities, especially Open University and field employment. The demands of the field employment are not only for the theory but also the students ‘outstanding characters;such as honesty, discipline, work ethic, competitiveness, and  loyalty. Based on the observations on archival work experiences, the instruments still emphasize only the knowledge aspect which is less able to measure anddevelop the student’ characterist ics. This research was conducted at UPBJJ-UT Semarang by taking samples ofthree regencies / cities; such as Semarang, Batang, and Pati. The research uses descriptive research based onCIPP evaluation model. The CIPP model has a special component in the evaluation of context, input, process, and product. The result shows that the implementation of archival work experiences had been done well.Lecturers and advisors have built character education to students either directly or indirectly. In contrast, it hadnot been clear character assessment. Therefore, it is necessary to plan the student’ character assessmentinstrument clearly and precisely which is integrated in final assessment. The characters building that can be builtin archival work experiences are discipline, honest, creative, curiosity, passion, hard work, friendly / communicative, responsibility, and environment awareness. In conclusion, it is expected that there is an instrument of student character education assessment in archival work experiences. Keywords: character education, archival work experiences, CIPP model

Abstract

Changes in the orientation of 21st-century education by training soft skills are of particular concern to the world of education. Revise the 2013 curriculum by adding skills (1). Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving; (2) Creativity and Innovation; (3) Communications; (4) Collaboration that is included in each learning content gives a message about the importance of this skill. This was done because Indonesia's low position in the PISA ranking based on the Education Development Index released in 2016 was ranked 61, 62, and 63 out of 72 countries for the fields of science, reading, and mathematics. Facts on the ground, teachers are still not well prepared for learning. Conventional teaching methods with lectures and teacher-centered are still the favorites. Answering these challenges, lesson design using a learning model (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) RADEC can be used as an alternative solution to train 21st-century skills in elementary schools. The research model used is descriptive qualitative from the results of observations, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that students were trained to analyze critical thinking, creativity, and innovation, to communicate and collaborate well at the stages of the RADEC learning model. Students are more active and interested in learning, it is easier to understand the material and get satisfactory results. Keywords: RADEC, 4C, lesson design
