Abstract

This study aimed to produce a guided inquiry learning science model through flipbook media which is appropriate for training critical thinking skills for junior high school students on the Human Respiratory System material. The development of the device is a modification of the 4-D model which was tested on eighth grade students of the junior high school even semester semester 2019/2020 and was repeated twice. This is One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design research design and the data collection uses the method of validation, observation, tests, and questionnaires. The research data generated are validity, practicality, and effectiveness of learning devices analyzed descriptively quantitative and qualitative. The results showed that (a) learning devices developed were categorized as very valid, (b) learning activities were carried out very well with an average score of 3.69, (c) student activities in learning were carried out very well, (d) student responses to learning inquiry was very good (95.99%), and (e) the results of students' critical thinking tests had a high increase, critical thinking skills increased from 28.37 (Very Less Critical) to 81.21 (Critical). The conclusion of the science learning device with guided inquiry learning model through the developed flipbook media is appropriate to be used to train students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research aims to produce a valid and effective problem-based learning e-book integrated with Madura's local wisdom to enhance students' critical thinking skills. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with the ASSURE model, which includes the stages: analyze learner characteristics, state objectives, select, modify or design media, utilize media, require learner response, and evaluate. The subjects of this research were 20 students from class X at State Senior High School 4 Bangkalan, Madura Regency. The research instruments used included expert validation sheets, observation sheets for learning implementation, pre-test and post-test critical thinking skills, and student response questionnaires. Data analysis used the quantitative descriptive method. The research results show that this problem-based e-book received a high validity index score in terms of content feasibility, presentation, and language, categorizing it as valid with an average score of 3.13. The implementation of learning achieved a high percentage score of 80% with practical criteria. Based on post-test results, 90% learning completeness was obtained. The N-Gain pretest-posttest calculation results indicate an average N-Gain score of 0.71 with high criteria. The improvement in critical thinking indicator achievement had an average N-Gain score of 0.78, and the positive response from students towards the use of the e-book reached 90.76% with very good criteria. The results of this study affirm that the problem-based e-book integrated with Madura's local wisdom is capable of significantly enhancing students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Problem-solving skills are one of the important abilities that students need to have in order to face the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to produce an E-LKPD based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) on ecosystem to train the problem-solving skills of 10th grade high school students, based on the validity and completeness of the students' cognitive learning outcomes. This study used the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), with a limited trial involving 20 tenth-grade students at SMAN Jogoroto, Jombang. The validity instruments consisted of 19 items covering presentation, content, and language, which were adapted to the PjBL learning model and problem-solving indicators. This assessment was conducted by media experts, subject matter experts, and high school biology teachers using a Likert scale of 1-4 (poor-very good). The completeness of cognitive learning outcomes was assessed through the completion of pre-test and post-test using the N-Gain value calculation based on the school's minimum passing grade (KKM). Data analysis was conducted using quantitative descriptive analysis. The validity based on the presentation aspect was 98.33%, the content aspect was 98.08%, and the language aspect was 100%. Overall, the validity score was 98.80% (highly valid). The cognitive learning outcomes of the students achieved an average score of 88 and an N-Gain of 0.76, categorized as high improvement. Based on these results, the E-LKPD based on PjBL on the ecosystem topic is deemed suitable for implementing problem-solving skills training for 10th-grade high school students, as evaluated by validity and cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

Rumput laut yang dibudidaya di Kampung Rumput Laut Kecamatan Jabon Sidoarjo adalah jenis rumput laut Gracilaria sp. Pembuangan lumpur lapindo pada Sungai Porong mengakibatkan sungai tersebut tercemar oleh logam berat. Salah satu desa yang dilewati oleh aliran Sungai Porong adalah Desa Kupang di Kecamatan Jabon Sidoarjo. Rumput laut yang terpapar logam berat dapat mengalami penurunan kadar protein dan kinerja fotosintesis yang akan menurunkan pertumbuhannya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis konsentrasi kadmium (Cd) pada rumput laut Gracilaria sp. dan menganalisis hubungan antara konsentrasi Cd pada rumput laut Gracilaria sp. terhadap kadar protein rumput laut Gracilaria sp. Pengambilan sampel rumput laut Gracilaria sp. dilakukan di Desa Kupang pada tiga stasiun dengan tiga kali ulangan, yakni stasiun satu di Dusun Tegal Sari, stasiun dua di Dusun Kali Aloo, dan stasiun tiga di Dusun Tanjung Sari. Analisis kadar Cd dilakukan menggunakan Spektrofotometri Serapan Atom (AAS). Konsentrasi Cd pada rumput laut dan hubungan dengan kadar protein dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif, uji korelasi, dan dibandingkan dengan SNI 7387:2009 tentang batas maksimum cemaran logam berat pada pangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi Cd pada rumput laut Gracilaria sp. di Kampung Rumput Laut Kecamatan Jabon Sidoarjo masih di bawah ambang batas maksimal, hasil tersebut belum melebihi baku mutu yang ditetapkan oleh standart keamanan pangan. Hubungan konsentrasi Cd dengan kadar protein pada rumput laut Gracilaria sp. memiliki korelasi negatif, semakin rendah konsentrasi Cd pada rumput laut Gracilaria sp., maka semakin tinggi kadar protein dalam rumput laut Gracilaria sp.

Abstract

Rumput laut Gracilaria sp. banyak dibudidayakan di perairan tambak Kampung Rumput Laut Kecamatan Jabon, Sidoarjo. Gracilaria sp. dimanfaatkan sebagai olahan pangan karena memiliki nilai ekonomi yang tinggi. Sungai Porong dan Kali Aloo yang digunakan sebagai sumber pengairan tambak terkena dampak dari pembuangan limbah lumpur lapindo yang mengandung berbagai logam berat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsentrasi logam berat tembaga (Cu) pada rumput laut Gracilaria sp. dan perairan tambak terkait status keamanan pangan. Pengambilan sampel air dan rumput laut Gracilaria sp. dilakukan di tambak budidaya Kampung Rumput Laut Kecamatan Jabon, Sidoarjo pada tiga stasiun. Tiap stasiun diambil sampel pada tiga titik substasiun. Analisis konsentrasi logam berat Cu menggunakan metode Spektrofotometri Serapan Atom (AAS). Konsentrasi Cu dalam air dan rumput laut laut dianalisis secara uji statistik korelasi Pearson, serta dianalisis secara deksriptif kuantitatif, dan dibandingkan dengan baku mutu Peraturan Kementerian Negara Lingkungan Hidup Nomor 51 Tahun 2004. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi Cu pada air tambak sudah melebihi nilai batas ambang yaitu dengan kisaran 0,022-0,029 mg/L, sedangkan konsentrasi Cu pada rumput laut masih dalam kategori aman yaitu dengan kisaran 1,92-2,75 mg/L. Konsentrasi logam Cu pada rumput laut Gracilaria sp. dan air tambak memiliki korelasi negatif, dimana semakin tinggi konsentrasi Cu pada rumput laut Gracilaria sp. maka akan semakin rendah konsentrasi Cu pada air tambak.

Abstract

Materi ekosistem mempunyai cakupan yang cukup luas dan konsep yang kompleks sehingga diperlukan sumber belajar yang tepat untuk memudahkan permasalahan siswa. Perlu dilakukan upaya untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran yang sesuai. Media pembelajaran video dapat membantu siswa dalam menganalisis fenomena sehingga dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman serta hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan video pembelajaran materi ekosistem menggunakan powtoon yang valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Development dan Disseminate). Validitas video diukur menggunakan instrumen validasi berdasarkan aspek materi, bahasa, penyajian, ilustrasi, dan penggunaan. Kepraktisan video diukur menggunakan instrumen observasi keterlaksanaan, respons guru dan siswa. Keefektifan video diukur menggunakan tes berdasarkan ketuntasan hasil belajar siswa. Video dinyatakan valid jika validitasnya ?61%, praktis jika keterlaksanaan dan respons mencapai ?61%, efektif jika ketuntasan hasil belajar ?71%. Penelitian ini menghasilkan video pembelajaran dengan skor validitas 3,5 dengan validitasnya 87,5% yaitu sangat valid. Kepraktisan video dari keterlaksanaan pembelajaran mencapai 97,3% yaitu sangat praktis, respons guru dan siswa sebesar 97,7% yaitu sangat positif. Video pembelajaran menggunakan powtoon efektif karena memperoleh nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,74 (tinggi) dan ketuntasan hasil belajar 100% dengan interpretasi sangat efektif. Dengan demikian video pembelajaran menggunakan powtoon dinyatakan layak digunakan berdasarkan validitas dan keefektifan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar pembelajaran materi ekosistem kelas X SMA. Ecosystem material has a fairly broad scope and complex concepts, so the right learning resources are needed to facilitate student problems. Efforts need to be made to improve student learning outcomes by using appropriate learning media. Video learning media can help students analyze phenomena so as to increase knowledge, understanding, and student learning outcomes. This study aims to produce a learning video of ecosystem material using powtoon that is valid, practical, and effective to improve student learning outcomes. This research uses the 4D development model (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate). Video validity was measured using validation instruments based on aspects of material, language, presentation, illustration, and use. The practicality of the video was measured using the implementation observation instrument and teacher and student responses. The effectiveness of the video was measured using tests based on the completeness of student learning outcomes. The video was declared valid if the validity was ?61%, practical if the implementation and response reached ?61%, and effective if the completeness of learning outcomes was ?71%. This study produced a learning video with a validity score of 3.5 and a validity of 87.5%, which is very valid. The practicality of the video from the implementation of learning reached 97.3%, which is very practical; teacher and student responses amounted to 97.7%, which is very positive. The learning video using powtoon was effective because it obtained an N-Gain value of 0.74 (high) and 100% learning completeness with a very effective interpretation. Thus, the learning video using powtoon is declared feasible to use based on its validity and effectiveness to improve the learning outcomes of learning ecosystem material in class X high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to measure students' scientific literacy of science concepts, especially environmental pollution. This study assesses the scientific literacy of eighth-grade students’ using a quantitative descriptive method, with a sample selected through random sampling. Data were collected through a scientific literacy test focused on environmental issues and reinforced with interview and students’ respons. The science literacy test contains 10 double-choice questions that have been validated and tested for reliability. The research results revealed that students' scientific literacy in three competencies falls within the profience category, specifically: explain phenomena scientifically (72%), construct and evaluate designs for scientific inquiry (53%), and research, evaluate and use scientific information (69%). The average scientific literacy score was 67%, indicating that junior high school students' scientific literacy needs improvement in competency 2. The findings of Indonesian students' performance in this assessment highlight the need to improve learning strategies to strengthen students' ability to engage in critical scientific investigations.

Abstract

ARTICLE HIGLIGHTSThis study revealed 19 morphological variations of edible wedge clams, Donax faba (Bivalvia: Donacidae), from Kutang Beach, Lamongan, Indonesia, which has significant role as part of coastal ecosystem.This reseach also highlights the DNA barcoding of Donax faba based on COI gene (Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit I).The average genetic distance of the research samples was 0.46%, while the value of this parameter between the research samples and the ingroup was found to be 1.51%. ABSTRACTDonax faba is a type of wedge clams with significant ecological and economic roles, as well as variations in color, pattern, and morphometric properties. Recently, a particular population of unidentified D. faba was reported from Kutang Beach, Lamongan, Indonesia. Therefore, this research aimed to assess the morphological variations and molecular characteristics of D. faba obtained from Kutang Beach based on COI gene. A total of 288 samples were collected during the lowest tide for morphological characterization of the color, pattern, and morphometrics of the shells. Additionally, molecular characterization was conducted based on the composition of nucleotide bases and amino acids of COI gene, genetic distance, as well as the relationships. The results showed that D. faba had 19 morphological variations, among which the most dominant type contained a whitish exterior with brown spots and a whitish purple interior. The average genetic distance of the samples was 0.46%, while the value was calculated as 1.51% between the samples and the ingroup. Automatic Barcode Gap Discovery (ABGD) analysis performed using a prior maximal distance of 0.001 showed the separation of these species into distinct categories.

Abstract

Perumahan Grand Surya Buduran Sidoarjo merupakan area permukiman baru dengan jumlah penduduk sekitar 450 KK dan menghasilkan sampah dapur berkisar 306 Kg/hari. Upaya untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan mengolahnya melalui pengomposan dengan metode Takakura. Sasaran dari kegiatan ini adalah Ibu-ibu PKK berjumlah 23 orang yang bertujuan untuk menangani permasalahan sampah domestik menjadi pupuk organik melalui pengomposan metode Takakura. Metode kegiatan adalah penerapan dengan tahapan meliputi persiapan, pelaksanaan, monitoring dan evaluasi. Analisis keberhasilan dilakukan secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Pelaksanaan kegiatan betempat di kediaman Ketua RT 03 pada hari Sabtu tanggal 09 Juni 2024. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan dihadiri oleh 100 % peserta, jumlah peserta merespon positih 99,69%, dan tahapan kegiatan lengkap yaitu penyampaian materi, demonstrasi, praktik secara berkelompok, monitoring dan evaluasi, peserta melakukan panen kompos dan pemanfaatannya pada tumbuhan, kualitas kompos dengan tekstur remah seperti tanah dan berwarna kehitaman. Dengan demikian kegiatan PKM telah terlaksana dengan baik.
