Abstract

The increasing number of internet and social media users, in addition to bringing positive impacts, it brings negative impacts, one of which is the phenomenon of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is an act of verbal or non-verbal violence committed through social media. The cause of cyberbullying through mass media occurs for several reasons, one of which is the role of parents in supervising their children's interactions in cyberspace. Parental mediation in assisting their children surfing in cyberspace can be divided into three, namely: Restrictive Mediation, Evaluative Mediation, and Co-using. The purpose of this study is to see the role of each mediation on student cyberbullying behavior. Two scales, namely the parental mediation scale and the cyberbullying behavior scale, were used to collect research data. Data was collected through an online survey of 329 high school students in Yogyakarta city. Latent score analysis was conducted using the Structural Equation Modeling method. The results showed that restrictive mediation has a positive role, and evaluative mediation has a significant negative role on cyberbullying behavior. Meanwhile, co-using mediation does not play a significant role.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Selat Makassar, Lapisan termoklin, Suhu, Salinitas, Kecepatan SuaraABSTRACTThe Makassar Strait is a strategic route between Kalimantan and Sulawesi that connects the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. In addition to being an important international shipping route, this area is also prone to security threats such as sea mines and underwater drones, requiring strict surveillance and cross-sector cooperation. This study aims to explore the characteristics of the water column, particularly the thermocline layer that has the potential to become a hiding place (Shadowzone), at a depth of 0–300 metres at the Makassar Strait choke point. Temperature and salinity data at different depths were obtained from argofloat measurements during the period from October 2017 to January 2018. Sound propagation velocity calculations were performed using the Medwin empirical equation. The thermocline layer was identified through a temperature gradient of 0.1°C per metre. Data visualisation and analysis were conducted using ODV 5.6.2 software. The results of the study show that the thermocline layer is located at a depth of 86.4–158.1 metres, with a temperature of 16.79–27.98°C, salinity of 33.75–34.67‰, and sound velocity of 1514.19–1541.95 m/s. The thickness of this layer, approximately 72 metres, is indicated as a potential shadow zone for the hiding of underwater objects. Keywords: Makassar Strait, Thermocline Layer, Temperature, Salinity, Sound Velocity

Abstract

Graphical Abstract   Highlight Research Three distinct water layers were identified: surface (0-50 m), thermocline (50-180 m), and deep (>180 m). The thermocline layer is the most stable, with high Brunt-Väisälä frequency and low Thorpe displacement values. The highest energy dissipation rates were observed in the thermocline layer. Vertical diffusivity values were highest in the thermocline layer and decreased with depth.     Abstract The Flores Sea is on the western ITF trajectory connecting the Pacific and Indian oceans. Identification and quantification of turbulent mixing of water masses in the Flores Sea are essential for analyzing large-scale ocean circulation processes, including the circulation of the Indonesian ocean interior. However, direct estimations of turbulent mixing in the Flores Sea as a part of the ITF are underestimated. This research aims to determine water conditions, stratification, and water mass structures. This research used data obtained from the CTD instrument applying a Yoyo casting method deployed in March − April 2023. On the other hand, the Thorpe method was used to estimate turbulent vertical mixing based on the values of energy dissipation and vertical diffusivity. The waters are stratified into three layers, mixed layer (1−50 m), thermocline layer (50−180 m), and deep layer (180−500 m). The CTD data showed the presence of a stable thermocline layer dominated by ITF water masses carrying water masses from the Pacific Ocean (North Pacific Intermediate Water (NPIW) and North Pacific Subtropical Water (NPSW)) from the western ITF path. The energy dissipation value obtained at the study site was about 3.36E-07 W Kg-1 and the vertical diffusivity value was approximately 5.25E-05 m2s-1. The thermocline layer showed a large energy dissipation value which was strongly associated with the friction of the ITF, suggesting that turbulent mixing in this region is primarily driven by the interaction of ITF water masses with the surrounding environment.
