Abstract

Purpose: This research aimed to prove and analyze the host's characteristics and perceptions, and the environment that affected the existence of the Orang Rimba tribe. Method: This research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining analytical-qualitative and quantitative research methods within a cross-sectional design. Results: The results showed that the host factor influencing malaria incidence was the productive age category with a value of Exp.B=0.062 (95% CI 0.004-0.915; p-value = 0.043). Most respondents perceived that malaria often attacked at the peak of the fruit season. To control it, respondents consumed traditional medicine, used smoke, and increased mobilization to natural forest areas. Meanwhile, the host and environmental factors that did not affect malaria incidence included the density of Anopheles larvae, Anopheles mosquitoes, and predatory animals, as well as traditional medicine habits, the use of mosquito nets, hunting practices, and respondents' residence location. Conclusion: The definitive host characteristics that influenced malaria incidence were productive age, host perception, and host behavior.

Abstract

Introduction: Factors that cause high pneumonia cases, including age less than two years, population density, winter, antibiotic resistance, daycare attendance, exposure to cigarette smoke, nutritional status, and the influence of comorbidities. Methods: The research method used in this study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach aimed at seeing the relationship between the effectiveness of early detection of pneumonia using an application system. The results of this study are used to develop prevention and control strategies for pneumonia that reach all levels of society, especially marginal groups and provide recommendations related to child pneumonia advocacy. Results: The results of this study are 1) People in Demak who have almost 50 percent of toddlers say the M-KIA application cannot operate or open the M-KIA application; 2) There are still many people in Demak who have toddlers who say the M-KIA application does not understand and is not clear in meeting the needs for their toddlers. Most mothers of children under five in Demak with the M-KIA application are able to detect pneumonia early; 3) The M-KIA application is less effective because parents of toddlers in Demak have not all felt the function of the M-KIA application in meeting the health needs of toddlers, especially for early detection of pneumonia. Conclusion: The obstacle faced by the community in DEmak is the lack of knowledge of using the M-KIA application so that only some understand so that they feel the use of the M-KIA application to detect pneumonia in toddlers early

Abstract

Abstract

The use of natural or conventional-based supplementation has become a popular strategy among athletes seeking to reduce oxidative stress, improve recovery, and enhance athletic performance. This literature review searched four reputable international electronic databases, including PubMed, MedRxiv, Cochrane, and Clinical Trial.gov until December 2021, using Boolean operators with keywords and Mesh methods. The keywords used were "Supplementation", AND "Muscle Fatigue Recovery", AND "Athletes", which yielded 24 articles as study findings. The literature review found that exhaustive exercise can induce a neutrophil antioxidant response by increasing antioxidant enzymes. Nutritional supplements, specifically antioxidant supplements, Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAA), citrulline, omega-3, and caffeine, have been scientifically proven to reduce oxidative damage, which can block signaling pathways related to muscle hypertrophy. In order to combat muscle fatigue in athletes based on this research (literature review), natural ingredients and synthetic nutritional supplements have been utilized as dietary interventions. This literature review identified numerous natural micronutrients and synthetic supplements used in sports that possess anti-fatigue properties, decrease oxidative stress and enhance athletes' endurance capacity. The effectiveness of nutritional supplements in addressing muscle fatigue may vary based on the various ingredients in the supplements. However, natural-based supplements have become a preferred option among athletes and coaches currently.

Abstract

Leptospirosis is a public health threat in countries with tropical climates, like Indonesia. Incidents in Central Java Province are still found every year and still threaten the local community. The goal of this study is to find out what connection there is between sewer puddles and mice that have found leptospira bacteria that can cause leptospirosis in the Regencies of Klaten, Sukoharjo, Karanganyar, and Boyolali in Central Java Province. This research uses descriptive analysis, a cross-sectional design study, and the Geographic Information System (GIS) to carry out mapping. From the research results, it was found that the rat species that were positive for leptospira bacteria were Rattus norvegicus (31%), Rattus tanezumi (44.8%), and Rattus argentiventer (24.1%). Apart from that, only the sampling area and the presence of puddles in the gutter had significant results with the mouse PCR results with p<0.002 and p<0.03. Due to this, there are still many mice infected with leptospira bacteria in Central Java Province. For this reason, it is hoped that the public can increase awareness to always maintain a clean environment so that mice cannot breed freely. Apart from that, related agencies can carry out more monitoring of areas where leptospirosis is still endemic.
