Abstract

The research was conducted to study shoot-growth pattern on four cultivars of mango ( Arumanis, Gedong, Indramayu, Manalagi) that was early pruning and application of KNO3.The treatment was arranged factorially (2x5) in a randomized block design with four replication. The first factor were posision of pruning: on the first flush (P1) and the second flush (P2) and the second factors were concentration of KNO3 (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) g/l. Observations were made in two periods (flush I and flush II). The observation on the first period has been written in Satek-II Proceeding?s, 2008 but the results in the second period showed that:. 1) Pruning the second flush position further increase (the number of leaves per shoot, shoot length, and the total number of leaves per plant) on cv Arumanis, increasing the total number of leaves per plant on Manalagi cultivars, and increase the number of leaves per shoot at Indramayu cultivars than in the first flush position. 2) The application of KNO 3 on Manalagi cultivars reduced the total number of leaves, but the cultivar of Indramayu with concentration of 2 g / l to increase the length of shoots, and on two other cultivars (Arumanis and Gedong) had no effect. 3) There is no interaction between pruning and application of KNO 3 on all cultivars tested.Key words: Cultivars of mango: Manalagi, Gedong, Arumanis, Indramayu, Pruning, KNO3, Flush

Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the effects of IBA concentration on the growth of pineapple seedlings sprout from crown cutting on each applications method. The treatment was arranged in factorial (5x2) in ran-domized block design with three replications. The first factor is the concentration of IBA (0 ppm,100 ppm,200 ppm,400 ppm and 600 ppm). The second factor is the application method of IBA (spraying method and basting method). The results showed that the concentration of 400 ppm IBA effect on leaf width, plant wet weight, and number of primary roots. Treatment of IBA application by basting method of the primary root number more than spraying method. The interaction between concentration and applications method of IBA had no effect on all observed variabels. This study were obtained that the concentration of IBA 400 ppm gives the best growth, Treatment of IBA application by basting method to increase the number of primary roots, but the influence concentration of IBA on the growth of seedlings of pineapple seedling from crown cutting is not determined by applications method of IBA. Key words: Pineapple Seedling, Crown Cutting, IBA

Abstract

Spatifilum (Spathiphyllum wallisii) is a popular ornamental plant that can be used as indoor decoration, so its appearance should be attractive.  Apart from flowering, an interesting criteria for the appearance of the spatula is to have many tillers so that it looks lush.  One of the efforts to obtain this appearance is the provision of a growth regulator capable of accelerating shoot growth, namely Benzyladenine (BA).  The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of BA which produced the best effect on spatifylum growth.  This research was conducted in the greenhouse of the Horticulture Building, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung from July 2019 to January 2020.  This research was arranged in a structured single factor treatment design consisting of six BA concentration treatments, namely 0 ppm, 10 ppm, 20 ppm, 30 ppm, 40 ppm, and 50 ppm with six repetitions.  Data analysis used standard deviation which is presented in the form of a histogram by taking the average value of each treatment.  The results showed that the administration of benzyladenine with concentrations 10-50 ppm tended to increase spatifylum growth in the variable leaf area, leaf greenness, tiller emergence, number of tillers, flower emergence time, and number of flowers, but had no effect on the addition of plant height and number of leaves.  Giving benzyladenine with a concentration of 20 ppm was quite efficient in optimizing the vegetatif growth of spatilum, which was shown by the increase in plant height, increased number of leaves, time to emergence of tillers, and number of tillers.  On the other hand, the effect of benziladenine on the generative phase requires a higher concentration, namely at a concentration of 50 ppm, the time for which the flower buds appear is the fastest and the number of flowers is the most.  Keywords:  Benzyladenine, Concentration, and Spatifillum.

Abstract

Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) is a tropical plant that bears seasonal fruit and is one of Indonesia's leading export commodity.  Mangosteen production in Indonesia is still low and not continuous, because there are several factors that influence it.  One of them is the character of biennial bearing in mangosteen one year produce high fruit load followed by a next year of very low production.  Therefore it is necessary to induce off season mangosteen flowering.  This study aims to determine: (1) the effect of Paklobutrazol on the flowering of mangosteen plants, (2) the effect of adding KNO3 and Etefon on the acceleration of mangosteen flowering.  This research was conducted in Mulangmaya Village, Kota Agung Timur District, Tanggamus, Lampung.  Regency at an altitude of 250 m above sea level from September 2018 to April 2019.  This research used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with a single factor consisting of 3 treatments, namely P1 ( manure 10 kg/plant + NPK Nitrophonska 1 kg/plant, P2 (Paclobutrazol 2 ml/l + KNO3 20 g/l + manure 10 kg/plant + NPK Nitrophonska 1 kg/plant), and P3 (Paclobutrazol 2 ml/l + Etefon 40 ml/l + manure 10 kg/plant + NPK Nitrophonska 1 kg/plant).  The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance and the mean separation was carried out by orthogonal contrast test at the 5% significance level.  The results showed that the treatment of P2 (Paclobutrazol 2 ml/l + KNO3 20 g/l + manure 10 kg/plant + NPK Nitrophonska 1 kg/plant) on mangosteen plants was able to spur flowering faster with a difference of 12 days (8.70% ), and increased the total number of fruits per plant by a difference of 41 fruit (38.80%).  The P3 treatment (Paclobutrazol 2 ml/l + Etefon 40 ml/l + manure 10 kg/plant + NPK Nitrophonska 1 kg/plant), unexpectedly causing significant leaf drop 3 days after Ethephon spray, and new leaves were formed a month later.  Keywords : Ethephon, KNO3, Paclobutrazol, and mangosteen flowering

Abstract

Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L) seeds from seed, or commonly called seedling, have relatively few lateral roots and are poor in root hairs so that their growth is slow (having a long juvenile period of up to 10-15 years). For this reason, it is necessary to make efforts so that mangosteen seedlings can have a good root system through the addition of natural growth regulators. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of red onion extract, a mixture of onion extract and mung bean sprouts combined with biological liquid fertilizer on the growth of mangosteen seedling. This research was carried out in the Horticulture FP greenhouse in March 2020–July 2020. This study was arranged in a factorial (3 x 2) in a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with three replications. The first factor was natural ZPT treatment: without extract, red onion extract 400 g/L, and mixed extract of onion 200 g/L and green bean sprouts 200 g/L. The second factor is the provision of biological fertilizers, namely without biological fertilizers and 15 ml/L). The results showed that the administration of mixed extracts of shallots and mung bean sprouts tended to have better growth which could be seen from the highest average value for the variable plant height 6.04 cm, stem diameter 2.93 mm, and the number of secondary roots. The mixed extract treatment of shallots and mung bean sprouts also increased the widest leaf area by a difference of 3.5 cm² compared to the control. Keywords :  extract of shallot/ green bean sprout, growth regulator, mangosteen

Abstract

Cibotium barometz (L.) J.Sm. (Cibotiaceae) is an important export commodity for both traditional and mod-ern medicine. Populations of this species in several countries have decreased rapidly due to the uncontrolled collection of the rhizome parts for medicinal purposes. Since 1976, this species has been included in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). This means that no export is allowed without a prior permit issued by the CITES committee.  In order to utilize an endangered species sustainably, the global NDF (Non-Detriments Finding) system is applied for determining annual quotas. Therefore, monitoring and updating the inventory of C. barometz in its natural habitat should be carried out annually. A population study of C. barometz carried out in 2011 in Riau Province, Sumatra, is reported here. The aims of the study were: 1) to inventory C. barometz and determine its variation in Riau Province, Suma-tra, 2) to study the distribution and ecology of C. barometz, and 3) to assess the population size of this spe-cies by using random search methodology incorporating belt line transects. Two variants of C. barometz are recognized; they are the golden yellow and golden brown variants. C. barometz is distributed in eight loca-tions of Kampar District of Riau Province, in the secondary forest and rubber agroforest between 80 m and 600 m above sea level (asl). This species grows well in open to partially opened areas of secondary forest and rubber plantation in hills with a range of slope between 30° and 90°, with a relatively high humidity, 60 – 90%, in acid to nearly neutral soil, with a range of soil fertility from very poor to very humus rich soil.  The average population density determined in our study was 20 plants per 100 square meter. The highest popula-tion size was in the secondary forest of Bukit Kuda Beban at 590 – 600 m asl., viz. 9405 plants with a popula-tion density  of 47 plants per 100 square meter.

Abstract

The number of illiterate populations in 2019 aged 15-59 years was 3,474,694 people spread throughout the Regency/City in Indonesia. Since 2005 the government has published an independent business literacy program as part of efforts to eradicate illiteracy, poverty and ignorance. This study aims to determine the implementation of the program with the CIPP evaluation model. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method in six community education institutions in five sub-districts in Bogor Regency. Data obtained through interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that the Kekasaraan Usaha Mandiri program was carried out in a dense, illiterate environment in rural and mountainous areas. The main cause of illiteracy is the low economic income of the family which has an impact on dropping out of school and a short way of thinking of the community, with the perception that the most important thing is to be able to make money even though you have to be a manual worker. Organizers have an understanding of the literacy education development as part of efforts to educate the nation’s life. Educational literacy in the implementation of learning using product packaging and marketing materials that are not delivered optimally because the competency and entrepreneurial experience of the teacher is insufficient. Learning innovations that can integrate literacy education, business activities and religious education need to be done. Then it is necessary to improve entrepreneurship competencies for tutors, as well as collaborating with microfinance institutions or local entrepreneurs.
