Abstract

This study aims to examine how Instagram use influences the religious character of students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Purworejo. The research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. Data were obtained through an online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to official WhatsApp groups for grades X, XI, and XII. From an initial total of 169 participants, 164 valid responses were retained after removing outliers. The sampling technique applied was non-probability sampling using an incidental sampling strategy. Data analysis was carried out using simple linear regression with SPSS Statistics version 30. The findings reveal that Instagram usage has a positive and statistically significant effect on students’ religious character (β = 0.641; p < 0.001; R² = 0.299). This indicates that the more frequently students engage with religious content on Instagram, the stronger their religious character tends to be. These results reinforce Cultivation Theory, which posits that social media can shape moral and spiritual values through repeated exposure to specific messages.

Abstract

The 21st century requires everyone to adapt to digital culture. Computational thinking skills help deal with digital culture. These skills can be provided to students through teaching and learning. However, there are several obstacles to achieving this goal. First, teachers do not yet understand how to teach students computing skills through classroom learning. Second, there needs to be more teaching skills based on computational thinking. This community service aims to improve teachers' abilities in training students' computational thinking skills. This is done in the context of teaching and learning to provide 21st-century skills through Scratch programming. The approach used in this activity is educational and participatory. Namely, the implementation of the service contains educational elements and is oriented towards efforts to improve the role of teachers. Community service is carried out through three stages: material preparation, program implementation, evaluation, and monitoring. The material preparation stage involves collecting material from various literature. The program implementation stage provides material regarding 21st-century learning and learning design using Scratch programming. Teachers are also engaged in using Scratch and how to involve students with this programming. The monitoring and evaluation stage includes process evaluation at the end of each activity and product evaluation. This community service shows that 91% of all teachers experienced increased skills in making various learning creations such as animations, games, and simulations based on Scratch programming. Additionally, 87% of all teachers who participated in the activity experienced increased skills in integrating scratch-based teaching materials into learning. This service activity aims to increase teacher skills in teaching computational thinking through scratch programming, which is expected to improve the quality of education in the digital era significantly.

Abstract

Exploration of the Potential of Tobacco Stem Waste as a Natural Precursor for Graphene Oxide Synthesis via Green Synthesis Using the Chemical Reagent Hummers Method Abstract Graphene Oxide (GO) synthesis has been successfully carried out from tobacco stem waste using a modified Hummers method, where the raw material was first processed into graphite by heating at 5000C for 2 hours. The graphite oxidation process, using sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and potassium permanganate (KMnO4), resulted in the formation of GO material with an interlayer spacing of approximately 0.79 nm and a crystalline structure that is largely amorphous. X Ray Diffraction (XRD) characterization results showed that the graphite crystalline structure was disturbed due to the formation of oxygen functional groups, which was further supported by Raman spectroscopy results showing a D-band at around 1348 cm-1 and a G-band at around 1587 cm-1, indicating defects and disorder in the carbon structure. Meanwhile, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) results revealed the porous morphology of GO with carbon particle sizes ranging from 150 to 300 um, potentially providing a high surface area. These structural, chemical, and morphological characteristics suggest that the synthesized GO has potential applications in various fields, such as adsorbents for waste treatment, electrode materials in energy storage systems, sensors, and composite reinforcement. This study highlights the contribution to the development of high-value carbon materials from agricultural waste biomass that are environmentally friendly and sustainable.
