Therefore, the community should be able to perform basic life support (BHD) through the management of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). CPR action management is an early aid effort, also useful for maintaining blood flow to the brain, heart and the whole body so that it is hoped that the community will become the first savior for victims who experience cardiac arrest and breathing conditions around us. The purpose of this service is that the community can know and perform BHD and CPR management actions on visitors and patients at Puskesmas Tuntungan Medan. The method used was lecture, discussion, practice and distribution of leaflets regarding BHD material with CPR which was carried out through 3 stages, namely the preparation, implementation and evaluation stages with a total of 30 participants. The results obtained in counseling activities are that participants are able to understand the material presented as evidenced by the response of counseling participants who are very enthusiastic in paying attention, understanding and demonstrating actions. Counseling related to BHD management for the community is a change in the community's perspective on the importance of understanding and implementing BHD actions in an effort to maintain and save the lives of people around us. Keywords:  Basic Life Support, Cardiac arrest, Counseling

The total population in this study was 22 people suffering from pulmonary TB in the UPTD work area of the Sei Kepayang Community Health Center. The sampling technique used the Saturated Sampling technique, meaning that the entire population was sampled, so the total sample was 22 respondents. Based on the results of research on the knowledge and actions of pulmonary TB sufferers regarding effective coughing techniques and goals for clearing the airway, the knowledge level was 4.76 (68%) in the "good" category, the action level was 4.16 (59.4%) with the "sufficient" category, the results of knowledge and actions of pulmonary TB sufferers regarding techniques and goals are 63.7% in the sufficient category. It is recommended that pulmonary TB sufferers always use effective coughing techniques when coughing, so that sufferers can expel phlegm easily.

Abstract

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) often experience shortness of breath, fatigue, and a decline in quality of life due to fluid imbalance, anemia, and reduced lung capacity. These conditions highlight the need for simple, safe, and effective non-pharmacological interventions. This community service program, titled “Napas Lega Bersama” (“Breathing Relief Together”), aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of CKD patients in applying pursed-lip breathing (PLB) techniques as a strategy to enhance breathing patterns and overall well-being. The activity was conducted at a partner hospital’s hemodialysis unit through educational sessions, live demonstrations, and guided PLB practice over a two-week period. Pre- and post-program assessments were performed using standardized questionnaires to measure participants’ knowledge and perceived quality of life. The results showed an 85% increase in participants’ understanding of PLB and a 70% improvement in perceived comfort and daily activity performance after the intervention. Participants also reported reduced shortness of breath and greater relaxation during dialysis sessions. This program demonstrates that pursed-lip breathing can serve as a simple and effective complementary therapy to improve the quality of life of CKD patients. It is recommended that this initiative be continued through routine mentoring and interdisciplinary collaboration to promote therapeutic breathing exercises across healthcare settings.
