Paradigm changes in implementing the independent curriculum are a tough challenge for teachers. Leadership that can facilitate teachers' needs for curriculum changes needs to be considered by all school principals who join the Driving School Program. This research aims to analyze the role of transformational leadership in school principals in supporting the implementation of the independent curriculum. This research uses a qualitative approach with a multi-case study design between school units. The research subjects were taken using a purposive sampling technique, including school principals, foundation administrators, and teachers, who were explored through interviews, observation, and document analysis. The research data were analyzed using constant comparative techniques. The research results show that female school principals have the same vision and mission in improving school quality, namely by supporting policies implemented by the government, namely the driving school program. Leadership that is integrated reflects transformational leadership with four dimensions, which include (1) ideal influence, providing exemplary examples to all members, (2) intellectual stimulation, facilitating both physical facilities and competence, (3) inspirational motivation, providing space and opportunities to communicating and providing motivation in work, as well as (4) individual consideration, paying attention to the competency development needs of its members. Implementing these four dimensions supports the realization of work motivation and commitment, which has implications for achieving teacher welfare and a positive school culture.

Abstract

This study evaluates the school’s policies to implement literacy education at an elementary school during the disruptive moment of global pandemic of covid-19 and social disparity of underprivileged community. Since the global pandemic has hit Indonesia in 2020, it had major impacts on the teaching and learning process across the country, causing some disruption of the educational strategies by the school principals. The purpose of this study is to analyze the policies implemented by the school management in implementing the culture of literacy and numeracy especially during the pandemic. This ethnographic study included one private community-based elementary school in a slump area. The results of this study are that the school had specific policies in order to accommodate the literacy and numeracy practice during the pandemic according to the condition of the community but with least coommunity participation. The policies at the elementary schools dominantly focus on numeracy in the learning process instead of encouraging the literacy practice. The implementation of literacy education at an elementary school in the slump area should have required community participation in order to revitalize its social position to empower the community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformational leadership strategies of school principals in fostering teachers' handarbeni (sense of ownership) in two early childhood education institutions: TK Ananda and TK Al Muttaqin in Driyorejo. Using a qualitative approach and case study design, data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that principals who apply transformational leadership principles—idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration—successfully enhance teachers' emotional engagement and sense of responsibility. Despite challenges such as resource limitations and teacher resistance, these strategies effectively build collaborative and productive work cultures. These results contribute to the development of leadership practices in education to improve school quality.

The results indicate that in the context aspect, the policy is relevant to the school's vision and mission, but there are challenges in the school's initial readiness. In the input aspect, human resources and infrastructure support implementation but still require optimization. The process evaluation shows that project-based learning methods have been implemented, although there are still obstacles in student engagement and parental support. In the product aspect, the policy has positively contributed to improving student character and academic outcomes, but gaps remain in understanding Pancasila values. Based on these findings, it is recommended to enhance teacher competence, strengthen infrastructure, increase parental involvement, and conduct continuous monitoring and evaluation to ensure that the Sekolah Penggerak policy effectively shapes the Pancasila Student Profile.

Abstract

Human resource management in educational settings plays a vital role in improving the quality of teaching and learning effectiveness. This study highlights aspects such as workforce planning, recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and incentives for teachers to enhance their motivation and performance. Teachers who receive ongoing training are better able to implement innovative teaching methods, improve classroom interactions, and create a more effective learning environment. In addition, teacher well-being, both in terms of incentives and psychological support, plays a role in increasing job satisfaction which has a direct impact on teaching performance. This study recommends a more strategic and technology-based approach to human resource management to improve the overall quality of education.
