Abstract

Based on SEARO (South-East Asia Region) data in 2013, shows that around 70-95% of dental caries occurs in school-age children. This shows the importance of knowledge of dental and oral health to make efforts to prevent dental and oral diseases. The knowledge of parents and teachers has an important role in influencing children's attitudes and behavior in maintaining oral and dental hygiene. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge of parents, teachers, and students of SD Tunas Harapan Islam Medan about oral health. This study used a pretest questionnaire for initial data collection, then counseling on dental and oral health to parents and teachers and for final data collection a postest questionnaire was used. The results of the dependent T test showed that there was a difference in the average results of the questionnaire before and after counseling for parents and teachers (p = 0.0001) and students (p = 0.0001). So it can be concluded that there is an effect of doing counseling on the level of knowledge of parents, teachers and students about oral health. Counseling on oral health at SD Tunas Harapan Islam Medan can provide an understanding of the importance of maintaining oral health and of course it can be passed on to families and the surrounding environment so that the environment of SD Tunas Harapan Islam Medan can be free from dental and oral diseases.

Abstract

Clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) is essentially aimed at increasing public awareness to want to live a clean and healthy life. PHBS in educational facilities should be prioritized considering that children have returned to school during the new normal period of the corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic. According to the WHO, washing hands with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand rub can kill the COVID-19 virus. Good hand washing is the first line of defense against the spread of many diseases. Hand washing can help prevent the spread of illnesses ranging from the common cold to more serious infections. Prevention of coronavirus disease also comes from good immunity. In addition to adequate nutritional intake, oral health is also needed to obtain a healthy immune system. The oral cavity is a part of the body that functions as a pathway for food and drink to enter the body and plays a role in increasing immunity. On the other hand, it is also the 'entrance' for various pathogens that cause infection. Therefore, community service for children is needed in the form of habituation efforts to wash hands and brush teeth properly. The purpose of this service is to improve the health status of children by building hand washing and toothbrushing facilities as an effort to habituate clean and healthy living behavior in preventing the spread of the Covid-19 disease. It is hoped that with the dedication carried out, there will be changes in behavior and improvement of health in children at school.

The data was collected by interviewing the mother of the children and measuring children's anthropometrics and the instruments were Parenting Style and Dimension Questionnaire (PSDQ) and digital scales for children. Data was analyzed with Chi-Square (p<0,05). There were 26 children (86,7%) in good maternal parenting style and 4 children (13,3%) in not a good maternal parenting style. Children with normal nutritional status were 27 (90%) and 3 (10%) undernutrition. One child (25%) had a good maternal parenting style and normal nutritional status otherwise 3 (75%) in not a good maternal parenting style and undernutrition. Our study found there was an association between maternal parenting style with nutritional status on children aged 12-24 months in Siborongborong Public Health Center (p=0,034). Abstract

This study aims to see the determination of the minimum limit of criminal liability for children in conflict with the law after the emergence of the rape and murder case of a junior high school student in Palembang in August 2024 where the three perpetrators who were under 14 (fourteen) years old were not sentenced but only in the form of actions. This research is a normative legal research that uses a statutory approach and a case approach. The results of this study indicate that when referring to the provisions of international law on children, namely the CRC and its General Comments and the Beijing Rules, the determination of the minimum age of criminal liability for children and the minimum age of children can be punished in national law, namely the SPPA, is appropriate so that there is no need for changes. There are three solutions to dealing with cases of children committing sexual violence in the future that the government can do, namely: Strengthening parental responsibility in supervising digital literacy and strengthening family socio-economics, psychological approaches to children and the importance of sex education

Abstract

Abstract

The transitional stage of puberty is often accompanied by limited understanding of reproductive health and inadequate literacy on balanced nutrition, conditions that may increase vulnerability to risky behaviours and impair healthy development. This study aimed to strengthen pre-adolescents’ knowledge of reproductive health and adaptive nutrition through interactive school-based education. The intervention was implemented at SD Negeri 047 Tanjung Pasir, East Tarakan, involving 52 sixth-grade students who completed pretest–post-test assessments. Educational materials were delivered using leaflets, posters, and two-way interactive discussion. Knowledge outcomes were analysed descriptively and changes in proportions. The results demonstrated a meaningful improvement in students’ knowledge of reproductive health, with the proportion of high-category scores increasing from 57.7% to 67.3% (effect size +9.6%). Knowledge of adaptive nutrition also increased, although to a lesser extent, from 61.5% to 63.5% (effect size +3.2%). The largest gains were observed in the ability to identify reproductive organs, recognize pubertal changes, and understand appropriate personal boundaries. These findings indicate that visual-supported, interactive education is particularly effective in enhancing pubertal literacy among pre-adolescents, even in coastal settings where discussions about sexuality may be culturally sensitive. This study offers novelty by highlighting how context-adapted reproductive and nutrition education can be successfully implemented in a coastal elementary school environment. The implications for practice include the need for schools to integrate continuous reproductive health and nutrition education into routine learning and to strengthen collaboration with teachers, community health centres, and parents to reinforce healthy behaviours among pre-adolescents.
