Abstract

This study explores the association of corporate identity, social responsibility, and reputation in the development of successful sustainable branding in the hospitality and tourism sector of Indonesia. We used mixed methods applying quantitative analysis and collect the data in a systematic arrangement from various big cities considering the tourists. A 1,219-panel sample of small to medium-sized businesses were surveyed. Our conclusions are that many companies have successfully created an organizational identity internally through the alignment of communicated values and management's daily actions. Social and environmental obligations are demonstrated in supporting local communities, energy conservation and preservation of the culture. There are still a few that are not officially documented, but everybody knows these to be part of the company’s overarching strategy. Corporate image, from a job evaluation standpoint, is supported by open communication, listening to feedback and a digital presence. The results of the path analysis support the effect of corporate identity on social action and reputational perception. And the connection between social responsibility and reputation is robust. Relationships between variables remain constant, while regional comparisons reveal diverse trends. Bali is the most advanced when it comes to identity and reputation, with Lombok and Labuan Bajo concentrating more on community engagement. Interviews and focus groups reveal that involvement of the staff in social activities also contributes to sense of ownership and pride in the workplace. The fusion of values, participation and regular behavior author the maintenance of public trust in an industry so based on perception.

Abstract

The transport sector contributes significantly to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the Mamminasata metropolitan region. This study examines the implementation of transport sector decarbonization policy through strategic and operational perspectives by evaluating institutional roles, inter-agency coordination, and stakeholder engagement. The main objective is to develop a contextual roadmap that supports a transition to low-emission transportation. The study employs a qualitative approach with an exploratory case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with local government agencies, transport operators, and community organizations, as well as analysis of policy documents (RPJMD, SUMP, NDC, and IGRK). The data were analyzed thematically and triangulated using perspectives from strategic management (Fred R. David), total quality management (W. Edwards Deming), and the theory of constraints (Eliyahu Goldratt). The findings reveal the existence of normative frameworks, but their implementation lacks alignment. Institutional fragmentation, weak regulatory integration, and low community adoption of low-emission transport modes further hinder progress. These results highlight the need for institutional consolidation, measurable performance indicators, and a legally supported policy roadmap to operationalize a sustainable urban transport system. This research contributes to strategic transport management literature by providing an empirical basis for actor-based coordination and context-driven transformation. It also recommends developing performance indicators and policy measures to accelerate decarbonization in urban mobility systems. Keywords: Strategic management; operational management; transport decarbonization; institutions; policy roadmap; Mamminasata.

Abstract

The complexity of business structures and the potential for tax avoidance through fictitious schemes contribute to the challenges associated with corporate tax compliance in Indonesia's self-assessment system. This study analyzes the general provisions and procedures of taxation (Tax Administration Law) and the new Criminal Code (KUHP) to understand how corporations are held accountable for tax crimes. The primary concerns pertain to the ambiguity of attributing culpability (mens rea) to non-human entities, the potential for overcriminalization of small corporations, and conflicts of interest within the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP), which fulfills a dual role as both investigator and fiscal authority. A normative legal methodology employing a legislative, conceptual, and historical approach was applied to examine the formulation of articles, corporate liability doctrines, and enforcement mechanisms through the HPP Law, the new KUHP, Supreme Court Regulation No. 13/2016, and Minister of Finance Regulation No. 17/2025. The analysis demonstrates that the legal framework has recognized corporations as criminal subjects through the doctrines of vicarious liability and identification theory, accompanied by penalties ranging from fines to dissolution. Nevertheless, the incentives for compliance mitigation remain limited. The principles of subsidiarity and restorative justice are regulated through voluntary disclosure and alternative penalties. However, implementation requires independent oversight to maintain checks and balances. The recommendations put forth include refining the definition of "directing mind," enhancing corporate compliance incentives, and harmonizing sectoral regulations to achieve a balanced enforcement between deterrence and substantive justice.

Abstract

The Damang Saiyo Farmer Group is one of the farmer groups located in Batu Balang Village, Harau District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. This group is quite active, especially in the agricultural sector. Most of the group members are active in agriculture, such as planting rice and gardening. However, there are also group members who raise livestock such as cows. Raising cattle for group members is a side activity and as family savings. Supporting natural resources such as empty land, fertile soil and easy access to green fodder in the form of grass and agricultural waste are supporting factors for raising cattle. The problems found in the Damang Saiyo Farmer Group are the lack of community knowledge about green fodder and never having processed green fodder from agricultural waste such as straw. So far, straw has not been optimally utilized as cattle feed.

Abstract

Desa Berdaya (Empowered Village) is an acceleration initiative in rural areas utilizing an integrated approach encompassing capacity building, economy, health, education, environment, and disaster preparedness. Its primary aim is to foster and develop local institutions to address community issues. This study seeks to portray the success of community empowerment through the Desa Berdaya program in Bligo Village, initiated by the private organization Rumah Zakat, by analyzing the 5P empowerment strategies: enabling, strengthening, protecting, supporting, and maintaining. A qualitative method with a case study approach was employed. Data collection was conducted using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, observations, and documentation. Informants were selected purposively, including Bligo Village Government officials, Rumah Zakat facilitators, women’s farming groups, the Bligo Beriman waste bank, entrepreneurs, and local community members, totaling ten informants. The findings reveal that the implementation of the Desa Berdaya program in Bligo Village does not follow specific criteria but is based on program facilitators’ recommendations, often prioritizing their home villages. Based on the 5P empowerment strategy, the enabling stage involved dialogues with the village head, community leaders, and other key members deemed capable of implementing the Desa Berdaya program. During the strengthening stage, formal groups were formed, and collaborations with various internal and external parties were initiated. The protection stage was realized by issuing official decrees for the established groups, along with financial support from Rumah Zakat, Bligo Village Government, and the Magelang Regency Agricultural Office. The supporting stage was conducted through facilitation and guidance provided by program facilitators to the community. Finally, the maintenance stage was carried out by fostering a conducive atmosphere within the empowerment groups. The Desa Berdaya program positively impacts Bligo Village, particularly in social, health, environmental, and economic aspects. The reactivation of community groups and the establishment of a waste bank, which remains well-managed, are among the significant outcomes. The people of Bligo Village have become increasingly critical in addressing social and economic issues in their community due to the continuous empowerment process, which persists to this day.

Abstract

The primary performance metric used by investors to evaluate the efficiency of capital investments is stock return. After the mining industry, the agricultural sector's stock price index volatility from 2015 to 2021 produced the second-lowest annualized return. Businesses can generate corporate value that is closely tied to stock returns by utilizing value creation-based performance analysis (EVA, MVA, Q-Tobin). Furthermore, stock returns may also be impacted by outside variables. The objectives of this study are to: (1) examine the financial performance of agricultural companies using Q-Tobin, MVA, and EVA; (2) examine the relationship between Q-Tobin, MVA, and EVA and macroeconomic factors (exchange rates and inflation) on stock returns in the agricultural sector; and (3) draw managerial conclusions from the analysis's findings. Eight companies in the agricultural sector that were listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange prior to 2015 provided the data. In order to ascertain the impact of macroeconomic variables, EVA, MVA, Q-Tobi, and panel data on stock returns, this study used descriptive analysis to evaluate the EVA, MVA, and Q-Tobi of each firm. The majority of the enterprises had negative EVAs, according to the results. However, the MVA study reveals that most businesses achieve positive MVA. The majority of the companies produce a value of q<1, according to the Q-Tobin data. Only the MVARET and Q-Tobin RET variables significantly improve stock returns, according to the REM analysis. Exchange rates, inflation, EVARET, and fictitious crises don't significantly affect stock returns.
