Abstract

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become increasingly widespread in higher education, particularly in assisting students with academic assignments. This study aims to analyze students’ perceptions regarding the utilization of AI in completing academic tasks, including patterns of use, frequency of application, and the types of assignments that most commonly involve the technology. In addition, the study evaluates students’ views on the benefits of AI, such as improved understanding of course material, time efficiency, and enhanced quality of academic work. On the other hand, the survey also explores students’ concerns related to plagiarism, violations of academic ethics, and the potential dependence on technology. The method employed is a quantitative survey using questionnaires distributed to students from various study programs. The results are expected to provide a comprehensive overview of students’ attitudes and tendencies in employing AI and to serve as a basis for educational institutions in formulating policies for the wise and responsible use of AI in academic settings.

Abstract

The integration of digital technology in modern education offers flexibility while presenting technical challenges that influence student engagement. This study aims to analyze the intensity of online application usage, student learning motivation, and the correlation between these two variables among students at the University of Mataram. A quantitative approach with a correlational survey design was employed, collecting data from 64 students via Likert-scale questionnaires in November 2025. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation. The findings indicate that the intensity of online application usage falls within the moderate category, with Google Meet and Zoom being the most dominant platforms. Similarly, student learning motivation is categorized as fair, influenced by ease of use and the quality of academic interaction. Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between online application usage intensity and student learning motivation (r = 0.41; p < 0.05), representing a moderate correlation strength. These results underscore that meaningful and intensive use of online applications has the potential to enhance student motivation, although technical and pedagogical factors remain critical in determining the overall effectiveness of digital learning.

Abstract

Creative thinking is an essential competency in physics education; however, assessment instruments with adequate psychometric quality remain limited. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a physics creative thinking assessment instrument for senior high school students based on the Classical Test Theory (CTT) framework. A research and development approach was employed involving 40 eleventh-grade science students at SMAN 1 Kediri. The instrument consisted of eight essay items representing four dimensions of creative thinking: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Psychometric evaluation included empirical validity using the Pearson Product Moment correlation, reliability using Cronbach's Alpha, and item analysis through difficulty and discrimination indices. The results indicated that seven of the eight items met the empirical validity criteria, while one item required revision. The instrument demonstrated high internal consistency with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.823. Overall, the item difficulty and discrimination indices showed that the instrument possessed satisfactory item characteristics. These findings indicate that the developed instrument has good psychometric quality based on the Classical Test Theory framework and is suitable for assessing senior high school students' creative thinking skills in physics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to map the knowledge evolution and pedagogical landscape of augmented reality (AR) research in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) teaching through a descriptive bibliometric analysis approach. Data were obtained from the Dimensions.ai database using the search phrase “Augmented Reality Research for STEM Teaching, Knowledge Evolution and Pedagogical Frontiers” for the 2017–2021 period, yielding 17,152 publications analyzed using VOSviewer software for keyword network visualization, density mapping, and temporal overlay. Results show a fluctuating publication trend that peaked in 2020 (6,110 publications or 35.62%), dominated by book chapters (53.86%), while journal articles contributed only 3.05%. The Information and Computing Sciences category (1,841 publications) and the Human Society field (1,307 publications) were the most productive research areas, while from the SDG perspective, SDG 4: Quality Education (1,648 publications) dominated significantly. Keyword cluster mapping identified interconnections between cognitive themes (mind, brain, thinking), music and culture (music, musicality, culture), and game-based technology (game, virtual, ict), with music and mind as the most central nodes. These findings confirm that AR research in STEM teaching remains fragmented in non-journal formats and requires thematic consolidation toward a more integrated pedagogical framework.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with a multimodal approach on students' physics conceptual understanding on the static fluid topic. The study was motivated by the low conceptual understanding of eleventh-grade students at SMAN 3 Praya, resulting from conventional instruction that rarely engaged students in problem-solving activities and lacked varied learning representations. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 26 students in the experimental group and 28 students in the control group, determined through purposive sampling. Conceptual understanding data were collected using a multiple-choice test based on the six levels of the revised Bloom's Taxonomy, namely remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating, then analyzed using a pooled-variance t-test. The results showed that the experimental group posttest mean score of 85.42 was higher than the control group score of 78.42, with tcount of 2.952 greater than ttable of 2.007 at a 5% significance level. The N-Gain test revealed that the experimental group achieved a high category (0.769), higher than the control group which was in the moderate category (0.645). Therefore, it can be concluded that the PBL model with a multimodal approach has a significant effect on students' physics conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This literature review comprehensively examines the evolution of Project-Based Learning (PBL) approaches within Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and their impact on 21st Century Skills from 2011 to 2021. Analyzing 40 scholarly articles, the study traces pedagogical shifts and trends in PBL implementation across diverse STEM contexts. Initial findings (2011-2015) highlighted a foundational focus on defining STEM integration and early explorations of PBL methodologies. Progressing into 2016-2021, the literature reveals a significant increase in the sophistication of PBL-STEM, marked by greater technology adoption (e.g., robotics, virtual laboratories) and explicit emphasis on fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy. This review underscores a clear trend towards authentic, interdisciplinary PBL experiences designed to prepare students for real-world challenges. It concludes that PBL consistently acts as a robust pedagogical framework within STEM education, effectively cultivating essential 21st Century Skills for future academic and professional success.

Abstract

Science Process Skills (SPS) are essential for developing students' conceptual understanding and scientific thinking. However, teacher-centered instruction and limited laboratory facilities hinder optimal SPS development. This study aims to analyze and synthesize the impact of Inquiry-Based Learning assisted by virtual laboratories on students' SPS using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Literature was gathered from national and international journals (Google Scholar, ProQuest, ERIC) published between 2016 and 2025. Guided by PRISMA 2020 protocols across four selection stages, 15 relevant articles were systematically analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. The findings reveal a consistent positive effect on SPS specifically observing, hypothesizing, experimenting, data analyzing, and communicating alongside increased student engagement. Effectiveness depends on inquiry type, teacher guidance, and instructional design. Although virtual labs cannot fully replace hands-on manipulative skills, this integrated approach offers an effective, flexible alternative for science education.

Abstract

Digital transformation demands updated instructional strategies in elementary schools, yet practice shows a gap between technology availability and pedagogical use. This study maps the types, impacts, and implementation challenges of modern learning media at the elementary level through a synthesis of national and international literature. A systematic review guided by the PRISMA 2020 statement searched Google Scholar, Scopus, ScienceDirect, ERIC, SINTA/Garuda, and ProQuest. From 142 initial records, 29 primary studies and related reviews (2018-2025) met the inclusion criteria, supplemented by four theoretical-methodological references. Findings reveal ten media categories-including interactive presentation multimedia, digital e-books, gamification, augmented reality, mobile applications, web-based video, and e-learning-that consistently show positive effects on students' motivation, learning outcomes, and literacy, though magnitude varies by context and teacher readiness. Teachers' TPACK and regional digital-infrastructure gaps emerged as key determinants of successful integration. The study concludes that synergy between technological innovation and stronger teacher pedagogical capacity is essential for optimal, equitable use of modern learning media in elementary schools.

Abstract

The learning process is still teacher-centered, resulting in students being less active during learning. This research aims to increase the influence of the Problem-Based Learning model on students' critical thinking abilities in mechanical wave material. This quasi-experimental research uses a non-equivalent control group design. The research population included all students in class XI MIPA at one of the State High Schools in East Praya. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique so that 2 groups were obtained, namely 30 experimental class students and 30 control class students. The experimental class was given treatment in the form of using the Problem-Based Learning model, while the control class used the conventional model. Students' critical thinking abilities are obtained from the description questions they work on. Data from the pretest results of experimental class students obtained an average score of 25 and control class students obtained an average score of 23. The posttest scores showed that the critical thinking abilities of experimental class students were in the good category with an average score of 78.6 and the students in the control class were in the good category with an average score of 74.3. The research hypothesis was tested using the polled variance t-test at a significance level of 5%. Data analysis shows that the tcount value, namely 3.384, is greater than ttable, namely 2.002, which means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Problem-Based Learning model on students' critical thinking abilities in mechanical wave material.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the multimodal-assisted Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ problem-solving abilities in the topic of work and energy. A quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design was employed. The sample consisted of 33 students in the experimental class and 33 students in the control class at SMAN 1 Gunungsari. Data were collected using a validated and reliable problem-solving ability test and analyzed using t-test and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the average pretest scores of the experimental and control classes were 34.818 and 31.758, respectively, while the average posttest scores increased to 82.697 and 76.697. The experimental class achieved an average N-Gain score of 0.733 (high category), whereas the control class obtained 0.644 (medium category). The findings indicate that the multimodal-assisted PBL model has a significant positive effect on students’ problem-solving abilities. Therefore, this learning model can be used as an effective alternative to improve students’ problem-solving abilities in physics learning, particularly on work and energy topics.
