Abstract

This research aims at investigating the area of interest (AOI) of the human operator when conducting automated robotic assembly task. A technical system, so called control cognitive unit (CCU), is applied into this empirical study to represent human cognition system and based on the prior knowledge, to adapt into condition changing of product structure and material supply. To improve the compatibility between human expectation and the technical system, this empirical study is designed and focused on different model of robot behaviour based on number of human-oriented production rule that applied in the models. Participants are expected to recognize the robot’s work pattern regarding assembly sequences using LEGO brick and carburetor and then to predict the position of the next brick or carburetor part. The result of ANOVA test of assembly task using LEGO brick finds significant differences on the fixation duration for the interaction between the model of robot behaviour and the assembly group as well as between the assembly group and AOI. Assembly with carburetor shows a significant difference for interaction between the model of robot behaviour and AOI. Furthermore, the fixation duration of the participants during the assembly processes using the most-human oriented model lead to the shortest fixation duration

Abstract

A reliable safety climate model is essential for evaluating safety behavior and predicting risks such as accidents or injuries, yet no research has specifically addressed the safety climate in the paper industry, either globally or in Indonesia. Recognized as high-risk due to its reliance on large machinery and hazardous chemicals, the paper industry has been understudied in this context. This research addresses the gap by developing a safety climate model tailored to the Indonesian paper industry, following a rigorous methodology that included a literature review, model design, validation processes, and Goodness-of-Fit testing. The study identified nine dimensions and 36 initial indicators, with strong content validity confirmed through Aiken’s V index, and refined through a survey of 313 employees—including managers, supervisors, and operators—at a paper factory in West Java, Indonesia. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) led to the final model, comprising nine dimensions and 32 validated indicators, achieving excellent fit across key criteria. These dimensions include management commitment, safety environment, safety communication, safety involvement, safety rules and procedures, safety training, safety competence, work pressure, and local wisdom. The validated model offers valuable insights into safety practices, providing a practical framework for improving safety performance in the Indonesian paper industry. By fostering a proactive safety culture and addressing sector-specific risks, this model has the potential to significantly reduce workplace accidents and improve overall safety performance, marking an important advancement in industry-specific safety research.

Abstract

Pekerja kantor yang bekerja duduk di depan komputer dalam waktu lama berisiko mengalami musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) akibat postur kerja yang kurang ergonomis, namun risiko ini sering dianggap remeh dibandingkan risiko pada pekerja lapangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi keluhan otot skeletal dan tingkat risiko postur kerja pada pekerja di Kantor Planning Seksi MP&WH Departemen Maintenance PT Badak NGL, serta merumuskan rekomendasi perbaikannya. Metode yang digunakan adalah Standard Nordic Questionnaire (SNQ) untuk memetakan keluhan otot skeletal pada 21 pekerja, dan Rapid Office Strain Assessment (ROSA) untuk menilai postur kerja melalui pengamatan langsung terhadap 17 pekerja yang meliputi penilaian kursi, monitor, telepon, mouse, dan keyboard. Hasil SNQ menunjukkan seluruh 28 bagian tubuh berada pada kategori risiko rendah dengan keluhan dominan pada leher, pinggang, dan pantat. Hasil ROSA menunjukkan 9 dari 17 pekerja (52,9%) memperoleh skor akhir 6 yang termasuk kategori berisiko, terutama disebabkan oleh kedalaman dan sandaran punggung kursi yang tidak dapat disetel (nonadjustable) serta rendahnya kesadaran pekerja dalam memanfaatkan sandaran tangan dan punggung yang tersedia. Rekomendasi perbaikan yang diberikan meliputi pembaruan fasilitas kursi kerja yang adjustable serta sosialisasi dan pelatihan ergonomi perkantoran bagi pekerja.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis risiko ergonomi pada karyawan Divisi People and Infrastructure PT Bina Pertiwi menggunakan metode Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ) dan Rapid Office Strain Assessment (ROSA). CMDQ digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi sebaran keluhan nyeri tubuh, sementara ROSA digunakan untuk menilai tingkat risiko postur kerja terkait penggunaan perangkat kantor. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa keluhan tertinggi terdapat pada punggung atas (15,6%), leher (13,7%), dan punggung bawah (13,0%). Seluruh karyawan memiliki skor ROSA di atas 5, yang menandakan postur kerja berada pada tingkat risiko berbahaya, dengan kontribusi terbesar berasal dari fitur kursi yang tidak ergonomis. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, disusun rekomendasi perbaikan yang mencakup penyesuaian postur kerja sesuai pedoman ergonomis, peningkatan kualitas dari fasilitas kerja, serta penerapan kebiasaan kerja yang sehat.

Abstract

Bench work (kerja bangku) is a foundational manual-skills practicum in mechanical and manufacturing engineering education. It requires sustained non-neutral postures—forward trunk flexion, downward neck flexion toward the vice, and repetitive upper-limb exertion—that expose students to work-related musculoskeletal disorder (WMSD) risk early in their careers. Conventional ergonomic evaluation relies on manual observation, which is subjective, labour-intensive, and difficult to scale across large student cohorts. This study presents a markerless computer-vision pipeline that estimates body joint angles from ordinary RGB video and automatically derives Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) scores for students performing bench-work tasks. Two-dimensional pose estimation localized anatomical landmarks; sagittal joint angles for the neck, trunk, upper arm, lower arm, and wrist were computed from landmark coordinates and mapped to RULA segment scores. Thirty engineering students were recorded performing five representative tasks (filing, hacksawing, marking/scribing, chiselling, and hand-tapping). The mean RULA grand score across tasks was 6.0, with 92% of observations falling in action levels 3–4 (“investigate and change”). Vision-derived joint angles agreed with manual goniometry to within a mean absolute error of 4.8°, and RULA grand scores matched an expert assessor within ±1 point in 96.7% of cases (weighted Cohen’s κ = 0.82). The results show that markerless computer vision offers a low-cost, objective, and scalable instrument for ergonomics education, posture feedback, and bench-station redesign.

Abstract

AbstrakKegiatan operasional di setiap lapangan membutuhkan beberapa jenis material pendukung seperti Maintenance, Repair, and Operation (MRO). Material yang paling banyak digunakan adalah material consumable. Berdasarkan data historis penggunaan material consumable periode 2018-2023, terdapat kesenjangan dalam pengadaan atau pembelian material consumable salah satunya adalah material kaca las. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merencanakan kebutuhan optimal pada material consumable agar dapat memenuhi permintaan departemen produksi. Usulan yang diberikan adalah dengan menerapkan forecasting menggunakan metode time series. Dalam hal ini, metode time series yang digunakan adalah Double Moving Average, Double Exponential Smoothing, dan Holt Winter’s Multiplikatif. Metode terpilih berdasarkan perbandingan nilai MAPE adalah Holt Winter’s Multiplikatif dengan nilai MAPE 7,36% dan hasil forecasting selama 6 periode adalah 112, 24, 60, 37, 38, dan 71 unit untuk tahun 2024-2026. Usulan safety stock yang dapat diterapkan oleh perusahaan disesuaikan dengan tingkat pelayanan yang diinginkan. The most widely used material is consumable material. Based on historical data on the use of consumable materials for the 2018-203 period, there are gaps in the procurement or purchase of consumable materials, one of which is welding glass material. This study aims to plan the optimal needs for consumable materials in order to meet the demand of the production department. The proposal given is to apply forecasting using the time series method. In this case, the time series methods used are Double Moving Average, Double Exponential Smoothing, and Holt Winter's Multiplicative. The selected method based on the comparison of MAPE values is Holt Winter's Multiplicative with a MAPE value of 7.36% and the forecasting results for 6 periods are 112, 24, 60, 37, 38, and 71 units for the years 2024-2026. The proposed safety stock that can be applied by the company is adjusted to the desired service level.
