Abstract

The development of Islamic boarding school education has brought changes to various aspects of human life. Although traditionalists are often not completely affected, there are similarities between traditional Islamic boarding school educational institutions and modernist changes. One of the Islamic boarding school education figures who made a contribution was KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim, is known as a bridge between Islamic boarding school civilization and modern civilization. This research focuses on two main problems, namely the form of reform of Islamic boarding school education from the perspective of KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim and its relevance to contemporary Islamic education. The research method used is library study, collecting data from various library sources such as books and articles related to Islamic boarding school education reform. The research results show that the idea of renewing Islamic boarding school education by KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim emerged from disappointment with colonialism which was detrimental to indigenous people. These reform efforts include institutional, methodological, library and curriculum aspects. KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim also founded Madrasah Nizamiyyah and developed Islamic higher education, which later developed into the State Islamic University (UIN). This reform plays an important role in advancing Islamic boarding school education and educating society. Its relevance to contemporary Islamic education can be seen in the transformation of Islamic higher education institutions in Indonesia. Thus, the contribution of KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim has formed the foundation for the development of modern Islamic education in this country.

Abstract

Creativity is an essential 21st-century skill; however, observations and interviews revealed that students’ creativity in biology learning remains low. This study aimed to analyze the development procedures, feasibility, teachers’ and students’ responses, and the effectiveness of a project-based learning e-module integrated with ClassPoint.io gamification. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model, involving two subject-matter experts, two media experts, one language expert, teachers, and 30 tenth-grade senior high school students. Validation results indicated very high feasibility (media 91%, content 91%, language 93%). Teachers’ responses reached 85%, while students’ responses were 88% (limited scale) and 91% (large scale). The t-test results showed a significant effect (0.000 < 0.05), indicating that the e-module is effective in enhancing students’ creativity.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic education in the modern era faces significant challenges in balancing the need for mastery of knowledge with the strengthening of character and spirituality. Learning models that are solely oriented towards memorization often fail to foster critical thinking, creativity, and the internalization of moral values in students. Therefore, a more integrative approach is needed so that Islamic education not only produces a generation that is knowledgeable, but also creative and has noble character. This study aims to: (1) identify the role of Islamic education in developing critical thinking and creativity in students; (2) explore the core values of Islam that are relevant in strengthening the character of the younger generation; and (3) offer a model of integration between education, creativity, and values that can be implemented in educational institutions. The method used is a qualitative research based on literature review, by analyzing classical Islamic educational theory, contemporary approaches in education, and relevant research findings. The results show that Islamic education plays a significant role in shaping students who are capable of critical thinking, creativity, and religious character through the implementation of learning strategies based on dialogue, problem solving, and digital literacy. Islamic values such as honesty, responsibility, justice, and spirituality are found to be highly relevant in building the character of the future Muslim generation. This study concludes that the integration of education, creativity, and values is an important foundation in the development of Islamic education that is adaptive to the demands of the 21st century.
