Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between educational philosophy and the development of critical and creative thinking skills in students through a literature review. This study was conducted by examining various international and national literature discussing the role of educational philosophy in the learning process in higher education. The results of the study show that educational philosophy plays an important role in shaping students' thinking paradigms through reflective, dialogical, and humanistic approaches. Philosophical approaches such as constructivism, pragmatism, and existentialism have proven to be relevant in developing critical and creative thinking skills. In addition, problem-based learning strategies, philosophical discussions, and reflective learning are effective means of implementing the values of educational philosophy. In conclusion, educational philosophy not only serves as a theoretical foundation but also as a practical instrument in creating a learning environment that fosters students' critical and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Realism is one of the most influential schools of philosophy in the field of education. It emphasizes that objective reality exists outside the human mind, and knowledge is obtained through empirical experience and direct observation of the real world. In the context of education, this approach can be implemented through learning activities based on facts and real-life experiences. This article aims to analyze the application of realism philosophy in the learning process and its impact on improving the quality of students’ learning. The writing method used in this study is a literature review of various national and international journals related to realism-based education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze regional tax governance through the implementation of Mobile Payment Online System (MPOS) in Gowa Regency, as well as identify the causes of the lack of optimal management of regional taxes, especially restaurant taxes. In addition, this study examines strategic solutions that can be implemented by local governments to increase the effectiveness of tax governance and encourage taxpayer compliance. The research uses a qualitative method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, in-depth interviews with relevant informants, and documentation from various official sources. Data analysis is carried out through the process of data collection, condensation, data presentation, and verification to draw valid conclusions. The validity of the data was tested through source triangulation and time triangulation. The results of the study show that the accountability aspect of the Gowa Regency Bapenda is reflected in the disclosure of public information through various digital platforms and official communication media used to support the implementation of MPOS. Transparency is seen through the provision of tax revenue data that can be accessed openly and in real time, thus providing space for the public to monitor the development of regional tax revenues. However, the participation of Bapenda and taxpayers is still not optimal. This can be seen from the low awareness and compliance of some people in fulfilling their tax obligations, as well as the lack of active interaction between local governments and business actors. The collaboration aspect shows that there is cross-sector cooperation between local governments, business actors, and technology providers, although the implementation is not yet fully effective. The conclusions of this study were found to include uneven socialization, the length of time it takes to repair damaged MPOS devices, and weak field supervision. Therefore, a comprehensive strategy is needed in the form of intensifying socialization, improving the quality of supervision, improving the device maintenance system, and enforcing stricter sanctions to increase taxpayer compliance.

Abstract

Mentimeter is an interactive application that is very important to use in learning, but receives little attention. The aim of this research is to provide mentimeter training in empowering the quality of teacher technology at MTS Arifah Gowa. The methods used in this research are; a) Observation; b) Discussion and Question and Answer; c) Independent/Structured Assignments; d) Assignment Review; and e) Direct and online consultation. Based on the results of the implementation of this training activity, it can be concluded that there has been an increase in teachers' abilities regarding mentimeter technology. These results can be seen from the evaluation results which show that 87% of MTS Arifah Gowa teachers understand mentimeter technology in the good category.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the peer tutoring method on learning activity, learning motivation, and biology learning outcomes of grade XI students at SMAN 15 Gowa. This quasi-experimental research employed a pretest-posttest control group design involving 54 students divided into experimental (n = 27) and control groups (n = 27). Learning activity was measured using observation sheets based on Paul B. Diedrich indicators, motivation was assessed through questionnaires using Keller's ARCS model, and learning outcomes were evaluated using cognitive tests consisting of 25 multiple-choice and 5 essay questions based on revised Bloom's taxonomy. Data were analyzed using Independent Samples t-test to compare groups and Paired Samples t-test to analyze improvements within groups, with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed significant effects of peer tutoring on learning activity (p = 0.015), motivation (p = 0.000), and learning outcomes (p = 0.000). The experimental group demonstrated higher mean scores in activity (25.93 vs 24.44) and substantial improvements in motivation (N-Gain 0.61, medium category vs 0.12, low category) and learning outcomes (N-Gain 0.57, medium category vs 0.29, low category). The mastery level achievement in the experimental group (92.60%) was substantially higher compared to the control group (66.70%). Superior performance can be attributed to enhanced peer interaction facilitating deeper conceptual understanding through social constructivism and the Zone of Proximal Development. These findings indicate that the peer tutoring method effectively enhances students' learning activity, motivation, and outcomes in complex biology topics, with practical implications for improving biology education quality at the secondary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of animated video-assisted student worksheets (LKPD) on problem-solving skills, learning motivation, and cognitive learning outcomes of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Palu. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population was all eleventh-grade science students at SMA Negeri 3 Palu, with a sample size of 72 students selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics analysis techniques to describe the effect of animated video-assisted LKPD through pretest and posttest data. Furthermore, inferential statistics analysis was conducted using analysis of covariance to test the research hypotheses. The results of descriptive analysis on each measured variable show that the experimental class taught using animated video-assisted student worksheets achieved higher scores than the control class. This is also proven through significant hypothesis testing on each variable, namely on problem-solving ability (p = 0.03), learning motivation (p < 0.01), and cognitive learning outcomes (p < 0.01). Through the results of this analysis, it can be concluded that animated video-assisted student worksheets have an effective effect in improving students' problem-solving abilities, learning motivation, and cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kebutuhan awal pengembangan model pembelajaran berdiferensiasi berbasis kearifan lokal Mattoana untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi dan kreativitas sains peserta didik. Studi pendahuluan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tuntutan pembelajaran abad ke-21, kebutuhan implementasi pembelajaran yang responsif terhadap keragaman peserta didik, serta pentingnya integrasi kearifan lokal dalam pembelajaran biologi agar pembelajaran lebih kontekstual dan bermakna. Dalam artikel ini, Mattoana dipahami sebagai praktik budaya masyarakat Bugis-Makassar di Sulawesi Selatan dalam menyambut dan menjamu tamu di rumah, baik tamu yang datang karena suatu kepentingan maupun tamu yang diundang secara khusus. Nilai-nilai Mattoana meliputi kerjasama, penghormatan, kreativitas, tanggung jawab, kepedulian, sikap ramah  dan pemecahan masalah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif sebagai analisis kebutuhan awal. Subjek penelitian adalah 100 peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri 11 Pangkep pada semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2024/2025. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes uraian yang terdiri atas soal kemampuan komunikasi dan soal kreativitas sains. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif berupa frekuensi dan persentase berdasarkan kategori sangat baik, baik, cukup, kurang, dan sangat kurang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik dominan berada pada kategori  cukup 40%, kategori baik 30%,  kurang sebesar 27%, dan sangat kurang sebesar 3%, tanpa peserta didik pada kategori sangat baik. Kreativitas sains peserta didik juga dominan berada pada kategori cukup sebesar 44%, kategori baik 30%   kurang sebesar 21%, dan sangat kurang 5% tanpa peserta didik pada kategori sangat baik. Temuan ini mengindikasikan pentingnya mengembangkan model pembelajaran berdiferensiasi berbasis kearifan lokal Mattoana yang mampu mengakomodasi perbedaan kesiapan, minat, dan profil belajar peserta didik, sekaligus mendorong komunikasi ilmiah dan kreativitas sains melalui konteks budaya menyambut dan menjamu tamu yang dekat dengan kehidupan sosial peserta didik.

Abstract

Despite the growing emphasis on student-centered learning in science education, many biology classrooms continue to rely on teacher-centered instruction, resulting in limited development of students’ science process skills and learning outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the effect of the Deep Learning approach on science process skills and biology learning outcomes among Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Adonara Barat. A quasi-experimental study employing a nonequivalent control group design was conducted with 70 students selected through purposive sampling. Thirty-five students were assigned to the experimental group and 35 students to the control group. Data were collected using a science process skills essay test and a biology achievement multiple-choice test and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that students taught through the Deep Learning approach achieved higher science process skills than those receiving conventional instruction, as reflected by a high N-gain score (0.70), 89% classical mastery, and a significant difference between groups (p = 0.001). The experimental group also demonstrated superior biology learning outcomes with an N-gain score of 0.65, 83% classical mastery, and a significant difference compared with the control group (p = 0.000). These findings suggest that meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning experiences enhance scientific inquiry skills and conceptual understanding. Furthermore, improvements in science process skills were accompanied by better academic achievement, indicating a close relationship between scientific practices and learning outcomes. Therefore, the Deep Learning approach is an effective pedagogical strategy for improving both science process skills and biology learning outcomes in secondary education.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effects of digital fatigue, cognitive load, and moral reasoning on biology knowledge and biology attitudes, as well as the effect of biology knowledge on biology attitudes among senior high school students in Makassar City during the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). A cross-sectional design was employed involving 500 students from 10 senior high schools in Makassar City. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results revealed that digital fatigue, cognitive load, and moral reasoning had positive and significant effects on both biology knowledge and biology attitudes (p < 0.05). Biology knowledge also had a positive and significant effect on biology attitudes (β = 0.386, p < 0.05). The R² values indicated that the model explained 69.3% of the variance in biology knowledge and 73.9% of the variance in biology attitudes. These findings suggest that cognitive factors, moral reasoning, and digital learning experiences play important roles in enhancing biology knowledge and shaping students’ attitudes toward biology in the AI era.

Abstract

Pengembangan unit pembelajaran STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Materi Fotosintesis merupakan salah satu alternatif pembelajaran yang dapat diberikan kepada peserta didik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan Unit Pembelajaran STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Materi Fotosintesis Siswa Kelas XII yang memenuhi kriteria valid. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan yang disusun dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada pengembangan model ADDIE. Model ini terdiri dari lima tahap utama yaitu Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation & Evaluation. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menganalisis kebutuhan guru dan siswa dengan menyebarkan angket kepada siswa di SMAN 1 Kalukku. Subjek Penelitian terdiri dari 1 guru biologi dan 34 siswa kelas XII Mipa 3. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Unit Pembelajaran STEM Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Materi Fotosintesis dinyatakan valid oleh validator ahli dengan tingkat kevalidan 81% kategori valid yang berada pada interval 81% < P ≤ 100% dan layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran dengan syarat prasyarat yang ada pada unit pembelajaran.
